HCIs there any position where things look worse this year? Not thinking that’s the case. Hoping for sure.
I didn't say they would be average. I said they *might* be if just about everything goes right (I don't think they have the talent on offense to be more than average right now). That's the best case, assuming Drake doesn't turn into an elite QB during the season. There have been so many changes in coaching, philosophy, schemes, and personnel, the most likely outcome is below average, based on the information we have now. Vegas says 4.5 wins. I agree that 4-5 wins is likely. Too much has to come together. However, as we get more information, everything can change. There is a LOT of uncertainty. The preseason games will be informative. No tge offense will not be average. They will be below average...
Polk and Baker are question marks. Neither has the speed and quickness one would like in a WR. We'll see if they have other characteristics which will help them succeed.However...it's logical to believe the offense will be better than last year. Brissett doesn't turn the ball over. The wr group is better that's obvious. I'm no Juju fan but he's totally healthy and fighting for a job. We should get his best, whatever that is. DD has a year under his belt. Both Polk and Baker have promise. They're rooks so I e pect mistakes but both have the ability to get open whi h only DD on last years roster was able to do.
I don't either. I hope he surprises. His speed is an elite trait, but his hands are small, and he can't stay on the field.Boney T? Well he did add some muscle. I haven't totally given up on him. But I don't expect much.
Again, a lot of uncertainty. LT is a huge question mark, and the most important position on the line. If LT is a problem, they might be no better than last year. The OL is no worse than last year might be slightly better but best we could hope for us just below average.
They'll take away the short passes if the other receivers don't perform. They added one of the best 3rd passing backs in the league so Brissett will have quick short passes available to him and DD both of whom can get open.
If they get anything at all from even one if their other wrs the offense will be decent. Not great, but decent.
It depends what you mean by improved. If you mean more talent, perhaps. The jury is out on a lot of the offensive players. If you mean more wins, that's a harder argument to make. You can have more talent and still be a train wreck because your coach and schemes suck, your players are not playing hard, your kicker is far below average (we aren't even sure who that will be), difficult schedule as you mention below, etc.Nobody can take an honest unbiased look at this team right now and say they're not improved from 2023. Nobody can also honestly say they're gonna have a winning record.
They'll be better, bet the farm on it.
Some people see the glass half full, some half empty. I really don't mind another 4-5 win season as long as progress is made, the rookies develop (esp. Drake), and Mayo settles in and turns out to be a good coach. Who knows? If OL looks great in preseason, Drake looks ready and balls out as the starter, with this defense, the team may be better than *any* of us imagine. It's just not likely. But they have the hardest nfl sked in the entire league. Who you play matters.
So they'll be better but might only win a few more games.
Way too early to bet now, but put a gun to my head I'd say 7-10. Thats based on Maye not starting until the last 2 or 3 games.
The fans that think our roster is good are comparing our roster against itself rather than the rest of the leagueOnly some Patsfans think their roster is better than it really is. It's among the worst in the NFL. I don't think they'll get the #1 pick, but they'll be in that 1-3 range again.
Special teams. Lost many starters. TBD.Is there any position where things look worse this year? Not thinking that’s the case. Hoping for sure.
I was looking at it more from an investment standpoint and risk perspective, 4 picks vs. 2. But as an uninformed observer it is pretty easy to see them doing very poorly in 24/25. Ceiling is a top 5 pick, floor is #1.Or they could have been stuck with Rattler and been middle of the pack this year and the next 5 years. Silly to make statements like this. We have no clue until they play the game.
All dynasty's start by being the underdog. Learning how to execute when the game is on the line is more important than dominating on the scoreboard. Even when the Pats were awesome, every Super Bowl turned into a slugfest of some sort with no blowouts.Does anyone remember what Vegas pegged us at this time last year? Be nice to know how close they were. Honestly don’t mind being the underdog. Yea the 50 burger blowouts were nice but this will still be entertaining. I don’t think it’ll be any worse than last year and definitely not 80s bad.
This year’s defense is near identical to last year’s, better if they can stay healthy… that’s a top five defense. The fans that think our roster is good are comparing our roster against itself rather than the rest of the league
Will Campbell, LT out of LSU, COME ON DOWN!!!Only some Patsfans think their roster is better than it really is. It's among the worst in the NFL. I don't think they'll get the #1 pick, but they'll be in that 1-3 range again.
LT Will Campbell out of LSU fits the bill. It’s a call to shore up the OL with a stud first rounder if it’s appropriate. No. I’m not advocating a blind OL before the college season has begun.
But you must admit, getting a Joe Thomas would be a welcome addition.
(Before the reply - no, I’m not suggesting that a HOFer is available at LT in April 2025…)
Gonzo, if he stays healthy and develops is a long term cornerstone. Judon, not so much.So you don't think the return of Judon & Gonzo makes a difference?
If we come out of the 2025 with a "Blue Chip" plug and play LT, I'm good with that.I think they win 5-6 games somehow, won’t get #1 with that
Agree on GonzoGonzo, if he stays healthy and develops is a long term cornerstone. Judon, not so much.
Judon when healthy was the latest Patriot to get 10 sacks. His return is a serious 2024 upgrade.Gonzo, if he stays healthy and develops is a long term cornerstone. Judon, not so much.
