Alleged Character Issues in Patriots Draft

Mayo has made it a point to highlight one of his goals is to teach the kids how to become better men, husbands, fathers, sons..etc.

Let's give Mayo a shot to implement his theory and let's give the kids a shot.

I'm all for having a shorter leash on guys who come in with some baggage but to completely be out on a guy because Bedard said something is weak.

Teaching them the traits that will help make them better football players on the field will also help them become better men off the field.

That should be his goal, first and foremost.

Is Baker the litmus test for this approach? If not, how much slack do we cut Mayo and Wolf? Two more years of drafting players with character issues? If they can't fix them, it's throwing away draft picks, and the Pats can't afford to do that if they want to return to relevance. Don't count on free agency: selling players on a struggling, cold-weather team is going to be tough (which we've already seen).

The easy thing to do is just let it play out and hope for the best. Worrying about character issues at this point is a ridiculous waste of time. A very fair percentage of this board mature a lot between the age of 20-25. Some for the better, some for the worse. It’s just the way it goes.
