I agree, Ken. I still feel like LT maybe the top priority in next year's draft (Caeden Wallace not withstanding), but we definitely need to have a Defensive focused draft next year.

We have no idea what the top priority in next year's draft is going to be. It may or may not be LT. It's as likely to be DT, LB, CB or S.

Look at who the Pats have for Free Agents going into 2025. And I'm not talking about the guys on "Prove it" deals. I'm talking who have been a major part of the Defense.

I disagree. Onwenu is NOT a "stud" at RT. He's a JAG there. He's a STUD as a RG.

Wallace playing RT with Onwenu at RG and Sow at LG and Andrews at C wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.. Especially if Anderson can be at least a JAG at LT.

The 2019 patriots were on the decline,
2024 patriots have drafted the QB of the future added some pieces offensively and have a ready-made championship level defense. I'd say if it makes sense do it!

All while over-looking the 6 MAJOR players on the Pats defense whose contracts are up at the end of the year.

Deatrich Wise - turns 30 in July
Jahlani Tavai - turns 28 in September

Yep. Tua is in line for a big pay day due to hill and Waddle.

Miami has had a decent O-line protecting Tua. Much better than given credit for.

Miami used 6 RBs last year, though Darrynton Evans only had 2 carries. 4 of the other 5 averaged over 4.6YPC on 372 carries for 2106 yards (5.66 YPC avg). Devon Achane averaged 7.8YPC on 103 carries.

That's why Tua is in for a big Payday.

Josh Allen started doing well when he got a solid O-line in front of him. It helped build his confidence.
Joe Burrow is the outlier imho. He's not had a great O-line but he's been able to do amazing things despite the number of sacks he's taken over the last 3 years. He took 51 in 2021, 41 in 2022 and was on pace for 41 last year.

If Wallace, Anderson or Lowe work out at LT at even an Above Average level, then the Pats O-line improved markedly even with Strange not at LG. I think that Sow showed enough last year that he could be an upgrade over Strange at LG. Time will tell.

With an improvement in the O-line, we should see that improvement in the Run Game AND the Passing game which would lead to the close games becoming Wins instead of losses like last year.

This is a new front office. We don't know how they'll handle players over the age of 30 yet.

Usually when a player gets over 30 in the NFL.. they don't see large contracts outside the QB position typically.

Want to ask DeVante Parker (31), Conor McDermott (31) Adrian Phillips (32) and Lawrence Guy (34) about that? All were 30+ when this new front office disposed of them. Andrews and Judon (rumored) are the only 30+ who have gotten contracts. There are 3 other players who are older than 30 on the team. Cardona, Jon Jones, and Daniel Ekuale. 4 out of 9 are GONE.

How about Jalen Mills (30) and Pharoah Brown (30)? UFAs that the Pats chose not to re-sign. 2 of 2

The Pats had 3 players who were 30+ retire. Slater, Cody Davis, and James Ferentz. Reily Reiff (35) is the only UFA from the Pats roster unsigned..

How many UFA/SFA were signed that are already 30? ONE. Jacoby Brissett. The QB.

How many of the guys that they gave contracts to this off-season will see those contracts end on the wrong side of 30?

This tells me that the team is being EXTREMELY selective in players and wanting to reduce the age of the Roster. When they only sign 1 (Vet QB) and only have 6 on the roster in total after having cut 4, let 2 sign somewhere else, and had 3-4 retire. That's the Front Office sending a message that they aren't going to re-sign you unless you're playing EXTREMELY well. And

I think ANDREWS is the exception. I think that they only gave him an extension because they're not sure what they have in Jake Andrews. They signed that Turner kid from LSU who is also an unknown. They signed Nick Leverett as the veteran to replace Ferentz. We don't know the potential for Cole Strange's career, let alone his potential at center, especially since he's recovering from surgery.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pats INVEST a 2nd/3rd round pick in a Center next year. I also expect a mid-range RB regardless of what Kevin Harris or Rhamondre do.

This. Parker was garbage at WR. Phillips wasn't really seeing much playing time. Guy balked about his contract and thus wasn't playing a majority of the snaps. Being over 30 in the NFL at any position other than QB doesn't have a long shelf life.

I believe ownenu wants to stay at RT. Curran was saying when he negotiated his deal as he has no agent he wanted to play RT not RG . So we'll see how it all plays out in camp.

Diggs, Chase, and Hill clearly played big roles in Allen, Burrows, and Tua becoming better QB’s. I agree that QB is far more important, but acting like wide open big play receivers don’t help them is crazy.

Absolutely agree. For example when chase was out a few games burrow struggled. When teams took Diggs away Allen had to make plays with his legs. Tua was benched prior to getting hill and Allen and nearly traded. TB12 all he did was 50 TDs and go 16-0 when he had a HOF WR.

I voted RLKAG, I'll explain, and I will try to be brief.

1. LT as on 5/20 8:17am, is a glaring need. They may fix it with Wallace, but put me in the skeptic camp. I think they'll be looking to spend a top 15 pick on a LT next April.
2. What kind of contract? I am not trading a first for a rental on a team that might make it to .500.
3. What if Polk and Baker end up better than expected? The stink of Belichick's disdain for all things WR is gone. I would bet these two end up at the level of Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs, which we all would have been happy with while the Packers were in the playoffs last season. I want to wait and see how they develop before trading assets now.
4. I like Lamb A LOT. He's probably the only guy that would give me a long pause on such an offer. But right now, no.

Onwenu has played RT more than he's played guard, 3 years of his 4 year career, and proven he can play great at either... he just can't play the left side. They paid him like a right tackle.

Wallace has to prove he can play in the NFL first before we pencil him in anywhere.

Sow isn't starting simply because they drafted him, he's starting because last offseason he looked lost in rookie minicamp, got better week after week, until by the end of preseason he clearly looked like a starter and was throwing defenders around.

And I never said a receiver can turn a bad QB into a good one, all I said is that the young highly drafted QB’s have done better after adding a high quality receiver to the offense. And I have made the argument that you don’t have to have a #1 WR to win championships on many occasions. Adding a great receiver can really enhance offensive output, but it doesn’t guarantee championships.
