Yea. People forget someone (multiple?) lost their life to that scumbag. Not a joking matter but admittingly there were a few that were funny..
There's been way more OJ jokes than Hernandez ever got. For whatever that means.

If Will Smith was invited and Jada was mentioned, that would have been an epic slapped.

Was really funny overall but calling a straight guy gay over and over isn't funny or roasting to me. It's like Keven Hart saying "**** you, Tom" 30 times. It's just tiresome and not funny. Loved to see all those guys together dishing out and reacting to most of this stuff though.
Some of my best jokes are gay jokes.

I've never been a big fan of Hart and the roast didn't change that.

I'm a little over halfway through now, watching it with the wife. She wasn't really a huge football fan during the dynasty years, so a lot of those finer points and background were lost on her, but she seemed to enjoy it.

So far, I'd agree with the majority that Nikki Glaser was the best of the night. I thought Drew and Jules were also both excellent. The "Jew that makes you want to join Hamas" comment was his best line IMO. I thought BB was also pretty good. His most cutting lines were to Amendola and Gronk, "please don't do your job".

The comedian duo was painful. So was Burgundy. So was Gronk. Gronk seems like he'd be fun at parties and is a genuinely good dude, but he and the camera should have more of a Gronk spike relationship.

I don't know why Kim Kardashian was there...

I haven't gotten to the Peyton, Kraft, or Brady moments yet, so we'll see.

I look at it as he had to sign off on all of it, at the very least, the outline of it.

I thought the Hernandez stuff was a little over the top, but that's just me. I guess I have gotten accustomed to them having it swept under the rug and pretty much ignored for the last number of years.

Seems to me that, even though it was 11 years ago, it still stayed somewhere near front of mind for a lot of those guys. This roast was interesting in some ways because you never really knew the things that truly lived in their heads over the years, and now you see it in some of the comments that are being made.

PS: Tom's sisters took some big-time shots as well. Seems Toamy didn't really think this one through very well, no?

I'm surprised people aren't talking more about the time TFB seemed pretty put off by his sisters getting mentioned. That reaction seemed unquestionably genuine.

Call me a prude, which I'm not, but I think that most of the jokes would have been just as funny without the crude language.
I rewatched Nikki's routine and she would have been just as hilarious without using the gutter terms. However, that is what the modern stand up audience is expecting, I guess.

I don't agree.

Human expression has quite a wide dynamic range, we should be free to utilize the entire range, especially in the entertainment realm.

The jokes would not be as funny if we said intercourse rather than **** etc.

There are some interviews out there with comedians about working clean vs working dirty.

Jay Leno talks about it often, and my take of what he's trying to say is that it just makes it easier to get more work, rather than him making some sort of statement on morality.

To me it's kind of refreshing to see the younger comedians exploring that full range of human expression, rather than taking the safe route so they can work the corporate banquet circuit.

Here's one of the best explorations of the topic I've ever seen.

yes, today's humor is rooted in the gutter. It would have been a much better show without it.
As opposed to Sam Kinnison in the 80’s who did a bit called leper whore?

Or Eddie Murphy, Dice Clay, Pryor, Carlin, Lenny Bruce?

They started it.

They started it.

Every generation thinks they started it.

The link I gave above with Johnny Carson roasting Don Rickles is from 1968.

In addition to adultery and homosexuality jokes similar to those told today, Johnny threw in a rug munching joke too!

Redd Foxx was doing a really raunchy act back in that era too.

A high school friend used to have some records of his act back in the 1970s, we used to laugh our asses off to it.

Any young adult New Englander of the 1980s had to have seen John Valby too, no?

He did all the comedy joints and colleges back then, and was extremely vulgar.

I remember seeing him with my friends when the drinking age was still 18, what a juiced up night that was!

Believe it or not, he's still doing gigs at age 79!
