Yep. You read that RIGHT..

Wolf turned down 11, 23 and a 1st in 2025.

That's the sort of deal that CHANGES teams and the Pats fubared it.

They could have had the QB, WR and OT ALL by 34..

Sure, what difference does it make if we think that we have a top 10 QB and we could be HOPEFULLY getting McCarthy at 11.
=======
Yes, we could have whatever QB leams left for us at 11 plus Guyton at 23 and a 2025 first.

This is a 2-3 year rebuild. We started by getting our QB and a couple of WR's, probably one OL piece (Wallace should fit in somewhere in the LT rotation this year or next.

4 solid pieces is a fine start. We'll know more next year. We will have more work to do on the OL, and likely on the Defense. Of course, we will be signing a WR or two in free agency and re-signing our free agents or replacing them.

Owning both NE's #1 & Minn's #1 in '25 could have created a long and fruitful pipeline of top talent via yearly draft pick trades.

Given this new management's philosophy of "draft & develop" along with Kraft's perpetual cheapness except when it comes to signature phallic monuments, effectively retooling via free agency is not in the cards and amassing a pipeline of premium chips would have accelerated the rebuild (currently on year 5 unless one finds the need to label this "another consecutive rebuild" or a rebuild of the rebuild" or "we don't know what we're doing so let's put up an expensive mural"

It's old news that's been debated, thank you though.

That offer sucked and wasn’t nearly enough to pass on a possible blue chip QB. Saving this to bring back in 3 yrs when Maye is a top 10 NFL QB. It was NOT 3 firsts. It was 2. You can’t count the pick swap.

Drake Maye is going to be very good for a long time.

This isn’t Mac Jones 2.0…kid has an actual arm.

They could have had *a* QB. In this case, Nix, the only top one (besides Williams, of course) that AFAIK they didn't bring in for a visit.

Also:
1. Assuming that Maye develops, if they're in a similar situation next year, then they can get their extra picks.
2. All else being equal, I'd rather be in NE's spot rather than Minnesota's (who did not get their first choice at QB).
3. If you have TWO franchises desperate to trade up for the guy available to you, maybe you should be asking yourselves why.

DB are you questioning Great Wolf?? Maye could be the next best thing we have seen Bad QB play and I don't want to experience it again. Yeah they could have gotten a haul but they could have missed on a QB too.

Sometimes you have to gamble... Put on the big boy pants and take your best shot...

Taking Maye was a risky move imo... They rolled the dice on his upside, figuring they can correct his mechanical flaws and bring him up to speed film study wise in his red shirt season...

That says to me "not a franchise QB" ... But if they are right, it was the best and only move they could make... Or not make, if that makes sense... It's easier to pass, trade down, collect picks.. kill the season before it even begins, all couched with the thought that multiple picks are a better long term value... But if Maye is "the guy", that thought is not correct...

In the end, Wolf & Co were committed and made the hard choice... Can't fault them for trying to fill the biggest hole on the roster, no matter what the return could have been...

Okay, old timer. Since we have to go through this for the 470th time:

1. That’s not enough picks to be franchise altering.

2. Why do you assume the players we traded down for would’ve all panned out? The draft is still a crapshoot no matter how many 1sts you have. At least one of those picks likely busts.

3. You basically neglect QB this year since you likely end up with the 5th/6th best QB option waiting until pick 11. You’re now going to waste that high pick on reaching for a QB that’s more of a round 2 talent, or you won’t get a QB at all.

4. So now you punt at QB for next year. Where your best options are Shadouche Sanders and Mac Ewers. Well done!

Oh and by the way, that Vikings 1 isn’t until the 20’s now because Maye just lead a talent stacked offense to the playoffs.

I don’t give a **** if this pick doesn’t work out. It was still the right move. I’ll repeat that 100 times over as you continuously live in denial about the value of the QB position.

I would add that even if you hit on all those additional picks, you are still going nowhere since you don’t have a QB (Nix is Mac 2.0) and you will be likely out of position to draft one next year and will have to give multiple 1st round picks to reach for a QB that would have been at the very best the 4th best QB this year.

So in the end you will be giving more 1st round picks that you gain to be in a not that better situation.

And why are we acting like it's true?
Even assuming it's true. We filled QB and WR by pick 37 as it stands. So to get Maye instead of pick 11 we don't have a one next year and we swapped an OT in the 20s for one at at pick 68. Seems like a no brainer to me that you would give up a 1 next year and pick swap the tackles to get Maye instead.

If you just don't like Maye as the pick then say that if you do like him then this trade was obviously not enough and I'm glad it wasn't because we got Maye.

This is the list of QBs taken and the picks used;
Williams - 1 (Chi)
Daniels - 2 (Wash)
Maye - 3 (NE)
Penix - 8 (Atl)
McCarthy - 10 (Min)
Nix - 12 (Den)
Rattler - 150 (NO)
Travis - 171 (NJ)
Leary - 218 (Bal)
Pratt - 245 (GB)
Does anyone really believe that those QBs will still be in that order in a couple of years. I don't.

So they would have gotten two mid to late 1sts in consecutive drafts to move down from 3 to 11 and also had to swap picks in Minnesota’s favor in later rounds. Wouldn’t you rather take a shot with Maye?

I also read multiple reports that the Vikings wanted midround picks back.

It was not a serious offer if that is the case.
