I gave it an A. They drafted a potential franchise QB in the first. I really liked the Polk pick, but when you add Baker to it they have seriously addressed the need at WR. The Wallace pick caught me by surprise, but aside from this board pretty much everything I have read and seen about him has been positive. His numbers against the top DL he faced are excellent. I loved the Milton pick because I think you should always use a late round pick on a prospect that has some exceptional attribute, but is a project. That could be a 360 lb lineman, or incredibly fast skill players, or even converting a wrestler into an OG, as Belichick once did with Neal, but I always like them to have a project around, I even liked the sleeper TE at the very end.

Overall a great job by Wolf and the rest of them. This draft will pay dividends, and could start turning this franchise around.
I gave it an A-, two great drafts in a row!

The minus is for drafting Polk instead of a top corner, but I understand, especially if we are ready to sign Gilmore and/or are waiting for Jackson to get healthy

B - I wanted a trade up or 2 to secure more high end WR/T tackle.

I am happy we addressed our needs and focused on offense as we are better set at defense.

It's B+ from me because they drafted for offense, I have no idea, outside of Maye, if they picked correctly. But success rate after first round is pretty consistent across the NFL so I assume they'll have a few hits and a few misses. They went for what they needed, thus B+.

It seemed that they played it very safe, with maybe Milton being the only real gamble. Maybe I'm just used to us gambling over the dynasty years when we knew we only had a few slots, so take a shot -- sometimes it was Gronk and sometimes it was Damian Easley. I suppose the competition approach says we need lots of bodies and let's let 'em fight it out?

Jackson's career is over. He hasn't been able to run since his ankle surgery in 2022 and his premature return led to his patellar tendon injury that year as well. He looked exactly the same in 2023 not being able to run. The injuries have ruined him.

Prior to injuries, he was among the NFL's best at CB and was a 2nd team All Pro in 2021 (should've been 1st).

I think Gilmore will return.

They tried but the Bills said no. It's great to think of theoretical trades but if you don't have a willing partner it means nothing

6th and 7th round picks aren't gambles.

Lots of offense. Thumbs up

Somewhere tonight Mac Jones is sipping from a bottle of Jack Daniels and staring into a fire and muttering bitterly to himself that this didn't happen while he was here
?? It didn't?

They got him Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith, Kendrick Bourne, Nelson Algholor, Devaunte Parker, Mike Gesicki, Tyquan Thornton, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Demario Douglas, drafted 6 interior linemen.

I don't know, pretty ****ty receiving options overall I'd say

Don't get me wrong, I hate Mac as much as the next guy

I'm just pointing out we don't know what we have. We spent less on WRs and TEs this year than we did for Mac. We also drafted a couple WRs but we don't know if they'll be any better than Douglas or Thornton. We drafted a bunch of linemen for Mac too but who knows if Robinson and Wallace will be any better. We actually spent 16 picks on O and 11 pick on D in the last 3 years. When people say we left the cupboard bare, we didn't do it out of negligence. It's just that the moves we made didn't work out. We tried. And failed.

I’m in the popular B+ camp.
They got the guy most of us wanted in Maye. Some risk but they now are positioned to start to compete within their division.
We all wanted a starting QB, starting LT, and #1 receiver. Hard to collect all three in one draft.
They say they are a draft & develop team. So this was the first year. They’ll roll a wad of cap into next year.
They have two young receivers who are upgrades from where they’ve been.
They have a tackle who could push Onwenu back inside.
They’ll need to address LT in 2025 free agency or the draft.
It’s not going to be a one off-season turnaround.

They needed a QB, a starting left tackle and an X receiver that can take the top off opposing defenses...

They came away with the QB and nothing else.
Cousin,

Almost forgot......For you breakfast lovers: Breakfast was tender steak tips pan heated and Cabot cheese scrambled eggs. Then add brioche toast buttered with pecan/honey spread Add hot chocolate (still miss my coffee)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion......... and I have to agree with yours. This was caused by Wolf bailing on FA picks that could have stabilized the roster and then, the Draft picks could have done further repair. Not saying all would have been well, but Wolf and his minions now have to seek some hole fillers with experience. They made a mistake trying to be....NFL word of the day...."cute". Major failure and they should be called out

Fixes? D.J. Humpries is a consummate pro LT and pro Bowler. He's a Team player and got cut in a CAP move by the Cards. We was loved there. He is a month or two ready from an ACL. If you can get someone.....anyone to hold onto left tackle and about that time our shiny new wunderkind QB can take over from Brissett or Zappe (wouldn't that be a hoot if he beat out JB). Sign this guy and lock him up for a few years. He's only 30.

Go ahead and make the deal with SF on Aiyuk or Deebo. These rookies are not a gurantee. Now if they work out the "kid" has some real talent to throw at.

It would not hurt to get Zeke back. Most catches and lead us in rushing the second half BUT........more important. He was a top RB pass blocker.

That's a fair point. But it's a scouting miss to not have anticipated it. I mean, we do scout opposing teams and anticipate their needs, right?

I don't think they anticipate the run on OTs and were caught flat footed.

And where's the evidence of any of this? It all happens behind a curtain. You guys are literally just making stuff up.

Maye at #3 was the key. The only second guess I have is, given the run on OT's, should we have reversed the order of WR, OT. Time will tell.

Disagree with this. The top tier of both WR and OT gone by pick 34, but Polk was more likely to be gone by 68 than Wallace was so they took their receiver after the small trade down, and still got the tackle they wanted at 68.

I don't think they anticipate the run on OTs and were caught flat footed.

Disagree on this. Everyone knew going into the draft that there was going to be a run of 7-9 OT’s in the first round, the only question was whether it would be 7,8, or 9. And that’s a huge top tier for any position.

The run was over by the time the run was discovered.

By the time the draft rolled around the only real questions about the number of OT’s that would be drafted in the first round was whether Guyton or Barton would fall into the early second round, the rest were essentially locks to go in the first round.

Taking Wallace over Amegadjie and then taking Robinson with Javon Foster still on the board is nothing short of baffling to me. Either way, whatever gets Mafi out of the lineup and on a practice squad I’m all for. I thought Sidy Sow showed a lot of promise last year. I liked the Bell pick and am excited to see what AVP does with him. The UCF kid is straight up low IQ, but we didn’t draft him to build a rocket ship. I think Dial is more suited to zone. He’s too stiff to turn and run at the NFL level. Maybe a free safety convert? Milton had a fun combine workout.

Either way, they’re all Patriots now, so I hope the best for all of ‘em.

Graded the draft as a B.

We were looking for QB LT WR... Looking might be too weak a word... More like desperately needed... And we filled those roles, mostly...

Two out of three ain't bad ... But we did bolster the OL with a few guys... Had a few minor trades, got a few extra picks along the way... Getting a solid LT pick would have moved it up to an A, but I think adding depth to the line is a step in the right direction...

I think Wolf needs to comb thru veteran cuts later this year to find a real left tackle because I am skeptical about transitioning Wallace to the left side.... Even if it doesn't work out, the right side looks pretty solid pre camp...

Not a huge fan of Maye personally, however he was the guy The Pats tabbed early on, so I won't complain about it (too much)... I can at least respect the "we have a plan" draft strategy in regards to the position... I really like them snagging Milton as well... The idea of taking a second QB was something I brought up earlier, so am happy to see that it happened...

The WRs - I've been heartened by Bacons response to the guys we got... Honestly I had no idea who they were at the time... Just didn't spend any amount of time researching WRs, so I'm running with y'all's positive vibes on the picks...

All in all, while not a splashy draft, it was solid to the core for the most part... I believe it gives Coach Mayo a solid base to build off of, and you really can't ask for much more than that in this phase of the rebuild.

Many arguments here take as gospel the GM/HC's assertions, post-draft, that they got just the men they wanted. Surely we ought to see this as self-serving drivel on their part, entirely irrelevant to the actual, empirical merits of the players drafted.
