Serious question guys. Since Sey signed that big contract he has not done much for this team. He was out for 9 weeks this year , then comes back and has been highly ineffective. He seems to have picked up a slight injury bug over the last couple of years.

In fact teams are running at him and having success. I don't know if Sey is hurt or what. Maybe the injury was more serious then anyone anticipated. Maybe he is just taking a bit longer to get back to his former dominant self, who knows.

That said , do you think the pats would ever think about trading big Sey for defensive needs and picks? With the chance to draft Chris Long and the ability Jarvis has do you you think the pats would ever think about it? Imo Wilfork and Warren are the real force's on that line.

Not bashing big Sey , just wondering what you guys think.

Don't see how you could get fair value for him. He's not living up to his contract right now, and if and when he does, he has as much value to the Pats as any team. So I don't know why you'd trade him and take that risk.

I have a serious question. How would you know, since the vast majority of Seymours work goes unnoticed. When he is at his best, it doesn't mean he makes sacks or tackles or show up in any of the stats. Certainly the announcers will never give him credit. As a matter of fact, most football fans only conclude his worth due to Belichicks praise. I'm guessing that Bill still likes Sey, and that's good enough for me.

I think(though Im not sure) his huge contract would make it tough to trade him. Plus I dont see us getting good value for him.

I dont know for sure, thats why I asked what everyone thought. Stay out of the thread if you dont like what is being talked about.

Maybe next year would be a better time for this. Since Sey is up for a contract in 09. If he plays the way he has for the last two years I only see the pats keeping him is he restructures. Thats said if he has another down year next year it will be impossible to get anything for him.

Granted if he is playing like his old self again thats a different story.

No--the cap hit involved in trading him would be too massive.

Oh DUDE!

You just opened up the can of worms!

You think the Maroney apologists are outta control, wait until you run into the Seymour enablers!

They live by this credo that Seymour is All-World, but you really can't tell because the system he plays in allows his work to go largely unnoticed and his causing double-teams makes Wilfork and Warren better!

(They don't like to discuss that the Pats take Seymour OUT OF THE GAME when they need a sack - and they put in Jarvis Green!)

Has anyone here ever read the children's fable "The Emperer's New Clothes" by Hans Christian Andersen?

Oh, you must mean the best pass rusher on the team, right? The dude who would be a stud 4-3 end? Yeah, but he's a backup so he must suck.

Any theories like maybe it's important to get guys wind? Maybe some guys are better suited to rush downs? Hell, they take Wilfork out in their sub packages, he must be fat and lazy. They should trade him and start Mike Wright full time. Think we could get a first rounder for Wilfork?

Vrabel has 10 catches for 10 touchdowns, I think he's better than Randy Moss.

Ooooooooohhhhh...

Bad man have computer!
Dude, your welcome to post your threads complaining about the lack of effort from Seymour. The miserable drafting of Peoli and Belichick. The complete bust of young players, Meriweather and Maroney. The aging and missing in action of Thomas and Bruschi, etc, etc. Hey, nothing wrong with Fantasy Football, just not my cup of tea, each their own. Sorry to scare you.

Exactly, your cup of tea is posting about how great we are all the time. Btw you dont happen to be a cage fighter do you?

Haha , internet tough guys are classic.

Why dont you stay on topic instead of acting like a troll ( which you cry about) and derailing a thread?

Seymour is a cornerstone of our defense.
I agree he hasn't played like the All-World guy he is, but he came back in week 10, without a training camp, after being injured so severely he had to go on pup. I would read NOTHING into how he has played in his first few games back, but how he has played has been solid, if unspectacular.
I like Jarvis Green, but if you watch him play, he is NOT a strong 2gap run defender. He has a good role here, but replacing Seymour with Green would be a big dropoff in an area that is vital to our defense.
I expect that we will see steady improvement in Seymours play through the end of the seaosn and in the playoffs.
Seymour is recovering from an injury, and has always been a DOMINANT 2 gap DL. I have no worries that he has lost his ability.
Trading him is not even a consideration.

I agree but it seems Seymour himself is being run at with success. Hopefully he gets back to normal by playoff time.

Hmmm, frail psyke. Someone told me to stay out and I'm the tough guy, Whatever. Please search and find where I've cried about trolls. More BS I suppose. I guess AndyJohnson also derailed the thread.

I mean the guy (Jarvis) who leaves it all out there week in and week out and who doesn't take 8-9 games off every year (Big PuSey) with some phantom injury, yes...
