Obviously they're going to take a QB. The point is it's going to take alot of luck because they're not even getting the first or second crack at it.

Basically the two other teams need to **** it up.

Mahomes was taken 10th in the draft. You can find high quality QB talent in the Top 10 or even 15 in the first round.

Just trade out of the first and second rounds and load up with the safest picks they can find. Usually unathletic white guys with a high grade point average and a good work ethic. They may be slow, and not the least bit explosive, but they are a coaches dream,and can be converted to back up long snappers at any point in time. And god knows you can never have enough of those. The Patriots have won enough hardware, now the goal just has to be lining Gillette with as many “ WE WENT 8-9,” and fill in the year “ PLAYOFF PARTICIPANT” banners as they can muster up. Just look at your own example. Patrick was the second QB off the board in his draft at number 10.

Look at the positional players taken ahead of him.

The first qb bombed and Chicago got that pick wrong, which the Patriots will have to hope Chicago does again AND Washington.

Let's assume both their QBs work out. Just for a second.

What's the chances our QB will also be a legitimate NFL Superbowl caliber player?

Mike Williams, Myers Garret, Jamal Adams, McCaffrey.

These are some solid player comps the Patriots would be hypothetically be passing on because they are forced to take the third QB off the board... In 3 picks.

QB-needy teams pass on the best rated players at other positions all the time. The Pats are a QB-needy team. You have to "shoot your shot" so to speak. The best place to find a Super Bowl caliber QB is high in the draft (by that I mean in the Top 10). Thus it has always been.

That's not the argument. The argument is if the Patriots are taking a QB they don't want just cause they need a QB.

How do you know that they don't want any of the Top 3 QB's in the draft? How do you know the QB they want won't be there at 3? Do you have a time machine? Do you have next week's lottery numbers?

The Pats haven't been drafting for need high in the draft which is why they're in the spot they're in now.

There is alot of opposition in Patriots nation for you picking weapons instead of a qb in the early rounds. Very hard in free agency to get as we see. We will endure knowing that like you said quote: (We are bringing in talent). If you get WR1 (MHJ) and WR2 (of your choice)with the first 2 Pats pick in this draft it will make us Great again, Just my opinion.

Speaking of template, so we get a compensation pick for hiring a minority QB? The niners have had a **** ton of picks given to them because they lead the league in hiring minorities and ke having their minority coached poached for promotion on other teams.
