"Weaponize the offense"

Need not reply to my previous question. What difference does it make if they took the 3rd QB off the board at 3 or 30? It's still the third QB.

You think there are 3 superstar QBs in the draft.

Got it.
There could be. You don't know without access to a time machine.

3rd pick in the draft = leftovers.

They’ve done nothing as of yet to justify taking a QB at. Literally no LT on the team or a legitimate WR 1. If they go into the draft with neither one of those holes fill, no point in taking a QB at 3, headed for disaster as they did with Mac.
1) Mac did not have a disaster in his rookie year. We went to the playoffs.

2) I expect that Brissette will start for most of the year.

3) I expect to draft a QB and an OT in the first 34 picks, probably both in the first round.

4) I expect that we will still sign an OT and a WR, perhaps in the first 2 weeks of free agency, maybe later. We have not even completed ONE day of free agency.

5) Most have realized that the initial set of signees are usually way overpaid. Free agency will settle down.

6) I don't expect to carry any significant money into 2025. I expect to still sign at least a LT, a RB, a FS, a WR and a CB.

7) As we build our foundation, I want us to extend some folks who will free agents next year, Barmore and Judon stand out.

You don't know who the other teams are picking so it's hard to say that the Pats are going to get the 3rd best QB. Maybe the Pats get a guy who fell to them but develop him better than the other teams who picked their QB's ahead of them. Then what?

I do know. QB is going too 3 spots. Crystal ball confirmed it.

I don't need a time machine to know that the third QB off the board will always be the third QB off the board. Regardless if it's pick 30 or 78.

I'm starting to get a better understanding of whSt I'm dealing with here.

If you think about it. For all intent and purpose that Cardinals actually have the number 1 pick in the draft since the top 3 picks are QBs and they don't need or apparently more like don't want one.

Lucky them.

You're dealing with a rational person who can't see the future and chooses to be optimistic about the Pats' chances in the draft.

No. My theory is, were potentially using our number 3 pick on the number 3 QB instead of literally the number one best prospect in ANY other position.

Logically speaking. The two best QBs are already off the board by time we even pick ours. Awfully similar to how we ended up with Mac.
not similar at all to the Mac situation, unless we trade down and take the last of the 6 top QB's; Mac was the 5th and last

The Patriots got the last pick of the top QBs.

They're in line to get the last pick of the TOP QBs.

1. Mac had a solid good team around him week 1.

3. Agreed

4. It’s day 2 of free agency, the WRs remaining will do nothing to improve this team. Unless a trade is made for a WR, the current crop is once again among the worst in football.

The Patriots are the only team in the top 3 who isn't going to pick their QB. Not sure what he's worked up over but that's the facts.

That’s true the Patriots will not be able to choose their QB. That doesn’t mean the Patriots will not like whoever end up at 3. My feeling is that they like both Daniels and Maye.

I don't see any reason why the Patriots shouldn't consider taking the best player at X position instead of taking the leftovers at QB but he has a crystal ball so who am I to argue with that.
Because that player will not be as valuable as a QB. If the Patriots don’t take a QB at 3, they should trade down between 6 and 12 accumulate assets and draft a WR or an OT.

Teams aren't built through free agency. They're built through the draft and supplemented in free agency. They took a swing on Ridley and he would have helped but he is also expensive and 29 years old. This offense needs so much we won't be able to just snap our fingers and have an offense unless we hit a grad slam on the quarterback. I am hoping we go QB, tackle, receiver in the first 3 rounds and keep our fingers crossed all three guys can play.

Reading comprehension might be an issue for you.

I said IF which poses a hypothetical.

Are we on the same page yet?
Yes, the issue is "if" the team doesn't want any of the top QB's. I believe that they likely will want at least 4 of the 6 QB's. The question is whether to make a pick at 3 or trade down a bit. Obviously, trading down when you know one of your QB's is there is very risky. Of course, some team might pay handsomely for us to take some risk.

You said pick 30 the third qb is a left over.

You scoff at the third QB being a leftover at pick 3.

It's the third QB in both positions....
My point is that there are no leftovers at Pick 3. Whoever your picking is going to be highly talent unless you've got drooling morons making the pick (some teams do).

He’s conveniently leaving out the fact that I said to him that it’s not if they believe the QB can be a franchise QB, which has been the stipulation in every one of these discussions.
