Hes the same as mac jones. no better no worse.

Sorry, you're just demonstratively wrong on that.

You realize what a MARKED improvement that would be over the QB play we've seen here the last 2 seasons?

So losing with mediocrity is an improvement over losing with ineptitude. Got it.

I'm not willing to waste YET ANOTHER year of this defense on a tank year, sorry. You've got them for 2, maybe 3 more years as a unit. You need to show improvement, obvious improvement, next season. I think Jacoby Brissett, who does suck, sucks a hell of a lot less than what we had.
Tommy, id rather go 4-13 than 7-10, 8-9 or whatever. You are nuts if you think Brissette is going to make this team competitive.

You'd rather not waste another year? I got some tough news for ya then... its going to happen, regardless.

Yes.
Are the Patriots winning a championship next year with any QB? No. Then what does it matter? He's here for a year to train the next guy. If he does well, he'll get the Brian Hoyer gig. Simple as that. And I'd rather have him doing it, than one of the interception twins.

Oh please. Stop with the mentoring bull.

The rookie quarterback will develop on his own skills, drive and ambition.

If we need a veteran QB to mentor the rookie, we drafted a loser.
You don’t think a veteran QB and good teammate will be helpful for a rookie? Or at least just a QB who isn’t a territorial little dink who is also absolute garbage?

At least tell us you’d prefer to have gone for Cousins or Wilson, ya know real QBs.

This ^ is a terrible take...

Brissett as a starter:

926-1511 attempts, 61% completions, 9994 Yards, 48 TD's, 22 INT's, 85.2 QB Rating, 6.61 YPA, 190 rushes, 853 YDs, 4.5 YPA, 12 rush TDs

He's Andy Dalton with a bigger stronger body that can run for first downs... and that's far superior to Mac.

if they build a great team around him and execute, he can win some games for you. He's not overly explosive, but he's not going to lead the league in turnovers like Mac either.
18-30 says you are full of it.

18-30.

Wins/losses is a team stat, and Brissett has played on some real dogs over his career.

Mac Jones over the last two years has turned the ball over more than he has scored TD's... it was a terrible take.

This is just plain ignorant... no offense.

Player development is real, it's not a myth.
Dude if your quarterback needs hand holding two things are true

He's not worth the 3rd overall pick
Your coaches aren't doing their jobs

Who ever we draft needs to be responsible for their own success

Stop.

Brissette can't score points. Couldn't take the Washington job when the brass ring was put right in the palm of his hand.

And you want him as a mentor? Jfc

51 TD 23 INT

Or

48 TD 38 INT

Or

11 TD 12 INT

It's that simple. It really is. I don't understand how anyone can be angry over paying a guy next to nothing to not completely **** the bed week in and week out at the QB position. He's making 3 million more than Mac Jones this year.

Sure... Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rogers... player who got to sit and watch for a while and didn't benefit from it.

Tom Brady entered the league 6'4" 211 pounds, he was weak, slow and flabby.

A year later he was closer to 220 pounds of lean muscle mass, he got to sit and watch Bledsoe prepare and act like a pro for a year. But you think he appeared in NE ready to play out of the box.... delusional.

This is a fundamental difference in opinion then. This organization needs some semblance of competency and a sign of improvement. Two 4-13 seasons just makes us the dumpster of the NFL. We don’t want to have that become what this organization is. Even more so than now players will not want to come here, they will want to leave.

Will Brissett help us win 8 games? I’m skeptical but I would take 7-8 for sure over what we just had.

We’re getting a top QB prospect this year, we don’t need to bottom out again next year. Not while we have a young and legitimate defense to work with.

8-9, 9-8 is no better than 4-13. In fact, it's worse. It perpetuates the losing cycle. It prolongs the rebuilding process. It strips the team of assets, owned or created thru draft maneuvers/trades, etc.

Stop using Washington as an example of a functioning NFL franchise, their entire coaching staff just got canned... it's embarrassing.

6-10, 4-13, 4-13.

Nothing will perpetuate a losing cycle, culture and mentality more than that. I would be thrilled if we ended up 9-8. It would prove that we are turning it around, that Mayo can be a good HC, that Wolfe and the front office has made good moves, that our players are progressing. We wouldn’t look like a pariah organization that no one really wants to come to.

I’ll take that any day. And the key part is that we’ll have already drafted a QB at #3. That is why teams get okay with tanking. It’s for a QB. That’s not what we’ll be looking for in the 2025 draft (I hope!).

There's nothing quite like throwing in the towel seven months before the season starts. Quarterbacks more capable than Brissett of making the team competitive, who also can fill the "bridge" role, are available. Signing him as presumed starter = flying the white flag of surrender, especially in this division. The Patriots have a good defense, there's no reason they can't at least TRY to make some noise this season vs. writing it off.

Zappe is a good backup…but he has almost zero experience as an NFL QB compared to Brisket. I like this signing for the mentoring aspect, he’s a good doobie and the contract is good.

Angry? I'm not angry. Ive been saying this for months now. Didn't want him months ago, don't want him now.

Teams he's lead do not score points. We need to score points.

And you need to look at those numbers and think about them. 51 tds in 8 years versus the 46 mac had in three seasons. you think thats a strong argument? you think that if anyone who actually understand the numbers, is going to say yeah clear cut winner?

I don't get how some of you guys assess players. Only see what you want to see, i guess.

Might as well of brought back brian hoyer. Same difference. journeyman qb. boring, no point scoring quarterback who has never posted a winning record as a starter.
