Player Signing Patriots re-sign Bourne for 3 years

It's sad that they are actually gonna run it back.
I'm not sure they have a choice. They can't replace everyone on offense and don't have a lot of talent there to begin with. I'm just glad that Bill didn't leave the defensive cupboard bare too.

What about "the 2023 weapons sucked" people... now that they're re-signing all the same weapons?

The weapons did suck but they have to keep somebody. And they're not done yet.

Yaawwwnnnnnn

I think Thornton probably has some trade value too if they don’t want to keep him, but I imagine the new staff will try to work with him first and trade him in camp if they decide he’s not gonna work out.

Parker will probably go for a 5th or 6th, Juju might be able to be traded for a late pick if they restructure his deal to eat half of his guaranteed salary as part of the trade. Otherwise he will stay here, or be restructured and then cut with a June 1 designation.

Regardless I do think Ridley is in the cards.
Parker has zero trade value.

None what so ever.

You flipped without even a whimper. WOW. Lost your ballsac?
Nah, it makes sense AFTER the top 3 receivers were taken off the board. With Evans, Higgins and Pittman Jr staying with their teams, it left imo, an underwhelming list of receivers. Bourne was ranked #11 among the UFA receivers. My biggest issue with him is his acl and not being a difference maker. He's a good soldier though, so I get it. Plus, his contract is reasonable.

Currently, team has Parker, JuJu, Bourne, Douglas, Thornton, and Boutte. That's exactly who we had this past season (minus Reagor). Running back the worse receiving corps in the league was not what I had in mind. Not a lot of room left for more receivers, maybe 1 or 2 more?

Good point. I agree it wasn't as bad as it's made out to be.

However, I have a hard time seeing BB giving out these second contracts.
Maybe we shouldn't be giving out these second contracts

People are twisting themselves in pretzels

But in 2021 we shouldn't have given out all that money?
2022: 8-9 (most exp. receiving corps in the league)
2023: 4-13 (worse receiving corps in the league).

What do you think?

Didn't Ridley not finish a season with the falcons plus gambling?
That's two years ago he was reinstated last year not bringing up ancient history.

Perhaps Parker will be in camp, but I see him being traded.
Parker is not an easy Trade with a Great WR class on Tap I see Guys in this Draft already worlds better. We are not getting more than a 7th for him and we might have to throw in a 5th to get the deal done lose/lose for us.The Guy should have never been extended thanks again GOAT GM and I mean that.

It's not in TEAM, but it's definitely in WIN.

I like Bourne. 4.68 Combine 40 be darned (can get up to mid high 20.x mph as a ball carrier pre injury). His injury was huge last year. Pats had just beaten Buffalo. Sounds like they're confident the injury isn't horrible. Kupp came back from an ACL even faster, supposedly.

I’m ok with it. Nice player when used roperly.

3 years, $33 million.
Good he’s our best receiver, currently. And he has been one of the more respectable players on this roster. He’s dealt with a lot of ******** and was still happy to return. It’s good to have those type of guys.

On offense in 2021, they signed two WRs and two TEs. One worked, one didn't from each. They kept the two that worked, at reasonable money (in Henry's case, less than what he signed for per year the first time). I think this is good, because the goal this offseason is to improve as much as possible, and blowing the whole thing up and starting from scratch means you have to hit on 4 or 5 new players instead of 2 or 3.

Sign a guy like Ridley, draft a kid at 68, and you have a WR room of Ridley, Bourne, Douglas, Rookie, and whoever wins (or isn't traded/cut) between Parker, JuJu, and Thornton. Throw another 1-year JAG or UDFA in the mix for good measure.

At TE, you have Henry, re-sign Brown or an equivalent blocking TE, and draft a kid on day 3 to compete and develop.

That's a solid group of skill position players. Not top ten in the league, but good enough that if you can fix the OL, your rookie QB will be in a position to succeed, IF he's got what it takes.

I don't have a specific issue with either Henry or Bourne re-signing. Our "weapons" sucked as a unit last year even before Bourne's injury, but that doesn't mean each individual player is bad. Those guys are good, solid players. The issue is that they ranked too high on our depth chart of receiving threats.

I was/still am hoping for some upside plays though. Like, I'd love to sign a guy like Kendrick Bourne when we did 3 years ago for example. Take a guy that had some room to grow from his old team, give him a deal that he can grow into and outplay and maybe be a good value on the roster by the end of his deal. At this stage, feels like Bourne now and especially Henry sort of "are what they are". And that's fine, but I do want some upside guys sprinkled in and there's only so many WR and TE spots to fill. But on the face of it, these seem good signings.
