Great post. The Pats need a QB and OT. What draft picks do you expect the Pats to use in choosing a WR?
This seems to be the same problem we've had for the last several years. We need a QB. So we have to expend our first rounder there. All the "start right away" tackles will be gone by early 2nd rd. (for instance, Patrick Paul will be there, and Kiran Amegadijie, and Blake Fisher, but these 3 are considered developmental). And yes, you can find really good WRs in round 3, like Jacob Cowing or Javon Baker, maybe Ricky Pearsall drops that low, who knows, but these are not slated to be #1 types.

Even though we've been thinking that OT is a higher priority than WR, we may have just acquired our starting RT in Okorafor. If we also can land Tyron Smith for LT, then maybe WR becomes a higher draft priority than OT. Then you could envision this:
#3 - QB
#34 - WR
#68 - WR
#104 - OT
#136 - defense or capital to trade up
#182 - defense or capital to trade up
#229 - ?
Hopefully can also land some defensive help in FA.

Also, we only have 7 picks at this moment so it will be tight unless they trade ?

6 WR spots
Ideally pats got 2 Xs 2 Zs and 2 slots
Going into free agency ya got juju demario and tyquan thornton. I'm putting juju and tyquan in as Zs and demario in as a slot.
So pats need 2 Xs and a slot and probably a Z cuz tyquan ain't done nothing and juju is gone after 24'
Who are the Xs? Play outside
Mhj,Rome odunze, Brian Thomas, adonai Mitchell, keion coleman, devontez Walker, Xavier leggett, johnny wilson, luke McCaffrey, bub means
Play inside?
Ladd mcconkey, Ricky Pearsall, Roman Wilson, Malik Washington

Maybe pats can take Xavier leggett, bub means for outside WR and Pearsall or malik Washington to play inside
Bourne is probably staying. I’d say grab Gabe Davis, he’s still really young and at least is a deep threat every game. If not, they absolutely need to bring someone else in FA. They might or might not find a late round or udfa wr but I wouldn’t count on that. But one must be draftet earlier no doubt

Would be nice if pats could trade down with giants and get there 2 2nds and still get their guy at qb. That would be a perfect world.
Maybe trade down at 34 and trade up from 68. Try to get 3 picks inside 50

I used to think that too, but it looks like all 4 major QBs will be gone in the Top 5. We NEED one of the top 4 QBs IMO.

Based on depth of the draft, I’d argue it is smart to draft a tackle in the second and a receiver in the third. If you wait until the 4th to draft a tackle you probably miss out on the starting caliber tackles. While I think a starting caliber receiver is more likely to be found in the 4th than a starting caliber tackle. Receiver is a lot deeper in this class imo.

Smith isn't going to last a full season. He's the definition of the vet to hold the spot until the rookie is ready to go. You don't get a starting LT after the second (and some people say not after the first). This draft is flush with WR. I'd try to get them after our LT.

Diontae Johnson is being made available by the Steelers for a trade.

The wild thing about the Steelers is that they are complimented over and over again for their great WR drafting.

And yet, they don't put up with fools easily.

This is a team that doesn't really put up with antics, and we have plenty of examples: they let Santonio go, Plaxico was sent away when he acted up, Antonio Brown, JuJu had contract squabbles, Mike Wallace and Emanuel Sanders didn't get the bag, claypool complained and was shipped.

It really is mind-boggling to see the number of WRs who have been considered selfish there and sent away.

It's Diontae's turn now.

Any doubt that Pickens is next 2 years from now?

The Steelers should jump and trade from Rome Odunze, a guy who shows solid character and leadership.

Crazy that last year we were debating trading a second for Jeudy, now he just got dealt for a 5th and 6th.

I bet there’s gonna be a lot of trades these next few days. And for very low comp.

Broncos are gonna trade Courtland Sutton too. Pats should be all over that

It's hard to believe we could've gotten Jeudy that easily. Wow.

#182 - WR
#229 - K

Damn. I like Baker but I'm hoping they go the route of drafting a QB w/ #3 and sign a bridge QB instead of sinking a boatload of cash on Baker.

If they're going all in on Baker, then they might as well trade back into top 10, get starting LT, WR1, TE1 and let Baker cook.
