Reactions to “The Dynasty”

Everytime they interview Jackie MacMullan or Michael Holley, they reveal they don't now the basic facts of either Spygate or Deflategate. Jackie concludes that Brady probably did deflate the balls [she's completely unaware that Mortensen's numbers were bad and that the balls were right where they should've been]. It's crazy.

The director spent exactly one second on the debunking [i.e. the deliberate lying] of the Mortensen report.

I wonder if Belichick said "talk to Tom" because he didn't want to take the lead role in defending the team. I think he wanted Kraft to do it, because Kraft was so gutless in defending Belichick over Spygate. So Belichick was like, "OK Bob, let's see if you're going to defend your adopted son, or will you fold once again."
He didn’t say “talk to Kraft”, he said “talk to Tom”. Kind of odd that from “talk to Tom” you think Bill was throwing it in Krafts court when he was clearly washing his hands of the situation and putting it on Brady. Great leadership there.

Who defends the Patriots to the league?

Does Kraft expect Belichick is going to mount a defense of his player?

Belichick knows it's BS from the start, just like Spygate was. If the league is going to do a hatchet job on Brady, it's for Kraft to come to Brady's defense. NOT Belichick.

But Kraft NEVER defends. He turles every single time because we wants to be liked by the other owners.

What in the world is the point of Belichick "leading" on this when the NFL is going to manufacture yet another hatchet job? Lead who to where and why? Answer that.

The deflategate episode showed the absurdity of it all and they did paint the picture that the league was out to get the Pats at all costs, but I do wish they would have gone more into the scientific explanation of how a ball deflates in cold weather and that some of Indy’s balls were under the threshold also. The coverage of the SB was awesome. One thing I learned is when Butler talks about R. Wilson eyeing his side of the field and that clued him in to what was coming.

The Atlanta SB episode gave me goosebumps. Just hearing how Brady’s teammates talk about him is worth watching this series. They knew he was out for blood that season. Brady saying it was an FEA season and then explaining FEA “**** em All” was cool. This was also the episode that shows it was the beginning of the end. Bill bringing in Jimmy G, the press conference when he says we all know Brady’s age, players and Kraft talking about how Bill treated Brady….

********. Bill is the leader of the team, he’s the guy who for decades told his players not to talk to the media and that he was the guy everything went through. Now when this **** storm happened he was all of a sudden ok with the media talking to Tom about it.

Pontius Pilate Belichick.

Not surprisingly, you conveniently left out the website Patriots created to refute all aspects of the Wells report. You continue to lie to further your agenda.

Yea, Kraft didn't throw Bill under the bus during spygate like Bill did to Brady. Bill, who was guilty as sin didn't get suspended. Brady, where the league had no proof of anything, gets suspended.

Overheard quote of Dynasty Episode 7: "At the end of the 2014 Super Bowl, all the knowledgeable Patriot coaches were yelling at Belichick to follow the analytics & take a timeout. But Belichick, stuck in the old ways and holding a grudge against analytics, was slow to process what was going on. It was one of the worst coaching decisions in Super Bowl history. But then Pete Carroll saved Belichick from infamy with the decision to throw the ball on second down!"
Sometimes when you go analytics, you get screwed in the analytics. Sounds like this was left on the cutting room floor.

I'm late to the thread here, and it may have been asked and answered somewhere in the 24 pages, but is there a decent way to watch this series without an Apple TV subscription?
You can't spare 10 bucks?

'Dynasty' Director Explains Why Patriots' Early Super Bowls Glossed Over

Sounds like the director's reasoning behind the SB 38/39 glossing over was basically that it had already been covered extensively over many other documentaries. (i.e. man in the arena) So there was no need to rehash those storylines.

While I get what he's saying there, you can't call yourself a true documentary by leaving these things out. You should just emphasize that this documentary is all about Brady/BB/aurora of the Patriots dynamic, and that's it. Clearly not about the entire dynasty itself.
It's not a NatGeo or NFL Films doc. It's more like VH1 Behind the Music or True Crimes or some stuff.... Wish they used the "Photoshop Filter of Evil" trope at some point.

When it comes to the NFL front office, Bill is CLEARLY NOT the leader.

If he were, things would've been righted a long time ago.

Kraft had 2 chances to get it right, and he screwed it up both times.

If you think Jerry Jones would've put up with that horseshit for even a second, you're wrong.

Jerry fought Zeke's suspension and lost. He threatened and caved. As always, you're full of ****

Just watched the recent 2. I've really enjoyed the series so far. I am Ben Affleck. I remember how angry I was about Deflategate. They really milked it in this to the point where I think I yelled at the screen, "it's the Ideal Gas Law you f*ckwads. If you don't bring it up I will hunt you down!" I rarely ever ever swear.

Random thoughts/spoilers:

"When the shots are being fired at you, you can handle it. When they're being fired at people you care about, that's when it gets hard."
[That's what hits me the hardest. Can't imagine having my kid go through that.]

Great to see Butler. Except for Mueller's single up the middle, I don't think I've been more animated or yelled more loudly in my life for a single sports play. Brady calls it one of the greatest plays in SB history.

NE celebs defending Deflategate (Affleck, Damon, Burr).

"We worked for Bill, but we played for Tom." -Dola

ATL player up 21-3 on feeling comfortable and just before TB12's pick six: "It's Tom Brady, though."

Pioli nervous as Asst GM in Falcons room up 28-3 with people asking him to lighten up: "That guy number 12 across the field is Freddy effing Kreuger." [Yeah yeah yeah no mention of how the Pats D completely shut them down in the 2nd half, but that'd be boring to normal people.]

i've never really understood why a fanbase should have that big of a sway over decision making if that's the case.
Did you see how the dumbass Bulls fans booed the dead GM's name, who built the 2 teams that won 6 rings btw, and made his wife cry during their latest ?

That's the nightmare of every player, coach or owner with their team. Then there's also the commercial consequences of fans turning on a team.

I'd like to remind everyone that Deflategate was not about air pressure or footballs. It was about the league having absolute power over the players due to the CBA giving the commissioner authority to do so. Kraft caved because it would have been bad for the league to have all the league's dirty laundry come out in court. I get as Pats fans, we want Kraft to stand up for Tom and for them to be righteous in their pursuit for justice. That was never going to happen. It's not about righteousness. It's about billions of dollars, and keeping the cash flowing. Kraft got told, metaphorically, to shut up and get in line. Brady wanted to clear his name, but the league wasn't about to do that, and the kangaroo court that his appeal was showed that as proof. Eventually, he wore down and gave in. Took his suspension and then made them all pay on the field by winning again in spite of it all.

Every person who's had their TPMS light come on in their car when it's cold out knows that air pressure changes in cold weather. Common freakin' sense.

The league is corrupt.

Bill never threw Brady under the bus. Bill stood up there for fifteen minutes talking about the reports. The Documentary didn't cover it all but Bill introduced the science and even had his Mona Lisa Vito joke.

He did also have to defend himself too as at the time there was no wells report or any other details showing this was the equipment guys and Brady so people were ready to put it all on Bill. So he said he never once in his career ever asked anyone about pressure and that Tom would have to speak to how he likes to prepare his footballs and he wasn't talking about deflating just talking about how every QB likes their balls prepared to their own specs.

You’re 1/2 right. For the initial conference the day after the game, he absolutely threw Brady under the bus. He said he’s never been involved in taking air out of footballs and to go ask Tom.

A few days after that he gave the Mona Lisa Vito press conference where he introduced the ideal gas law into the conversation. So yea he did throw Tony under the bus, but once he understood the situation he tried to pick up the pieces.

I have never seen anyone get so worked up over nothing and get so many things wrong as Upstutter. There was that deliberate troll account that was more grounded than he is.

I did laugh when the reporters asked Jimmy G what advice/help Brady gave to him

What a riveting couple episodes.

We got deep, thought provoking and inspiring quotes like.

Tom Brady is a handsome man

And

Let's face it, Jimmy garoppolo is a handsome man.

What the **** was that?

This documentary sucks ass and it's sad cause they have literally all the players on camera.

Kraft really coming out of this looking like he's ball washing him self.

Yup the first press conference he basically came out and said "uhhhh I don't know anything, you have to talk to Tom about the balls". From that moment on, deflategate became a Tom Brady centric story and people largely ignored Belichick. Yeah he did do the ideal gas law conference a bit after, but by that point the damage was done and the target was on Tom's back. He was absolutely hungout to dry after Bill's initial press conference. The whole media took it as a greenlight to zero in on Tom.
