Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

I am not up on the rules these days like I used to be. Can someone explain the reason why a defensive foul of Duncan Robinson followed by a flagrant 1 foul on Jaylen Brown results in two shots & the ball for Miami? Shouldn't Robinson's foul mean something? I miss the rules when stuff like this happens. It was so much simpler.

The foul on Robinson wasn't a shooting foul.

No, but it was still a foul that should have some sort of penalty associated with it. As it worked out here, he was rewarded for it.

I was thinking it should be more like a dead ball foul in the NFL. Miami gets two shots for the flagrant 2 and then the Celtics get the ball on the sideline due to Robinson's foul.

Yeah, but the flagrant foul by rule awards possession. It isn't that he was rewarded, it's that the flagrant foul is a more severe penalty. But, for example, Robinson could have fouled out of the game on that play if it was his sixth foul.

It’s my starting lineup finally and it’s cooking

The lineup I’ve been stanning for has only played together four minutes this season before tonight. It’s like the purposely avoided it even though it makes perfect sense.

Damn, missed the game tonight.
They made history with another 50+ pt win despite all starters sitting out 4th.
Pritchard leading scorer with 28.
He has really become a valuable bench player. A rebounding machine and his toughness and physicality means he's no liability on defense.
Looks like Brissett had another strong game . What else is new? This team doesn't need to add anyone. If they're healthy they're the team to beat.
Best C's team since the last Big 3 Championship squad.
Jaylen Brownhas become a complete player. Tatum playing out of his mind. White is just a stud, KP a matchup nightmare,Jrue just a great all-around player.
Big Al, Hauser,Pritchard all studs off the bench. Brissett,Kornet,Queta all solid guys. This tram is really becominng what we all dreamed about. Unselfish. Tough.
Championship caliber

It’s one game against the Nets, and you finally think you found a kernel to argue on after months. And they’ve blown the doors off teams with Jaylen Brown also. Put your pants back on with this delusional take.

Sam Hauser scores like 3-6 points in half of his games, has no mid range game and no ability to score in the paint. That would go swimmingly in big games to have a guy who can’t create anything on his own besides jack up a three or stand in a corner the entire time.

Average role player. I like him but but he is limited offensively and a decent defensive player at best.

If Brown is out, Horford or Pritchard shouldn’t be starting his place. Hauser should. You have a player whose entire game is based around getting the ball on the perimeter with a sliver of space. That’s a great complement to a 7’3” freak, two ball handlers, and a top 10 scorer.

Well yeah Hauser is a wing, obviously it would make sense to play a backup wing unless they feel a double big lineup would make sense.

It doesn’t matter if he is a good compliment. Cool in some regular season stretches but in the big moments and big games you want talented players who are capable of creating on their own and making their own offense and playing elite level defense.

At the end of the day Hauser just isn’t that guy. That’s my main point. Brown, Tatum, White all compliment KP better than anyone else.

With 27 games remaining on the schedule the Celtics have snuck off to a 6 game lead in the division. They do face teams mostly with winning records over the next 10 games but chances look good as other teams have fallen back.

DWhite straight up stuffed Vucevic one on one.

At the end of the 2nd and beginning of the 3rd periods of last night's game, something looked weird with Jrue Holiday. On quite a few plays, he was just standing in a spot and not one of the ball handlers looked at him. It was not a good look. Even his body language was off, like he knew he wasn't going to get the ball so he just stood there.

As good as they are, their kryptonite (besides injuries) remains dumb pecking order over ball movement.

They’re getting the #1 seed and it’s time to bubble wrap Porzingis, Holiday and Horford for the playoffs. Might as well start limiting minutes for all starters.
