What Are Chances Patriots Make Splash Trade For Justin Fields?

Yup. That and a LB. Focus on O.

So you have a choice of Josh Allen at DE or Trent Brown at LT? Those are the two top choices on defense and offense end positions. If you do not like Josh Allen, maybe you would prefer Trent Brown over Brian Burns? Should I keep going or maybe you can agree that drafting a LT and signing a defensive end FA is preferrable?

You don't want Christian Wilkins or Justin Madubuike? I know, I know, those guys suck. You have a much better offensive FA to suggest. You are keeping your suggestions until later so we are kept is suspense!! Soo spooky.

You do not want press corners like Jaylon Johnson or L'Jarious Sneed because you want who? I am listening. Crickets from you?? Kendall Fuller is a possibility too across from Gonzo. Any of the three opposite Gonzo and we have the best tandom on the NFL and you want who? We have the most cap space in the NFL over the next three years and you want to be conservative to save the cap space for later? Too funny.

Let me guess. You want Tyron Smith, Mekhi Bekton, or Jonah Williams? Garbage. You want Micheal Pittman or Tee Higgins? Both will be franchise tags. There are no good offensive FAs, but you want to sign guys that suck because "we need offensive weapons"?

Why are there no good offensive FAs. Because teams resign them. What can we do? Draft better on the offensive side of the ball and sign our own guys. There are no offensive FAs to sign, but you want to sign JAGs. God help us. We have to fix the drafting of offensive players, not sign offensive FA JAGs.

Agreed, now fields is also cheap. On the same rookie contract. Yes, Mac is owed a fresh start somewhere. So how about Mac, Parker & and a 6th for fields? So it would be fields, zap unfortunately, draft pick ,and veteran to battle it all out in camp. Zap would have the advantage over everyone by virtue of him being here. However everyone would be coming in fresh becuase Mayo's/ AVPs offense is going to be a Version of the west coast offense.

Fields is only cheap for one year, so that is not cheap. Mac is not owed anything, he chose to be a ****y, cry when he had a sprained ankle and cheap shot other players. Those are things Mac chose to do, he is owed nothing. Mayo has no offense, he is a defensive player and a defensive coach .

How about putting Mac and Fields and Wilson and Lance in a field to suck the hind tits on some dairy cattle? Those guys suck and are yesterday's story. We need to look ahead and get the QB right at #3 or with a small trade down. Forget about yesterday, don't live in the past, look ahead to our rebuild.

Yeah we need to also hit the power ball too! We sucked ! We were 4-13 we need talent, yes of course it's no secret we need a QB! We are in no position to say we don't want this guy or that guy. Worst offense in the league, absolutely no pro bowlers selected! This offense is a got dam expansion team. Foxboro high might have better players. We likely will be overpaying guys in FA guys aren't just going to be willing to come here. I'm with you all the way on the rebuild. I just want talent anyway possible we can get it.

We are definitely in a position to say which guy we want. We are in a better position than in 2000 and we won the Super Bowl in 2001. Lift your chin up and have some pride. Guys will come here, we have a great tradition, a great coach, a great owner, and the best sports town in America. Stop making excuses and feeling sorry for yourself. With one good Free Agency and two good drafts we will be back in the Super Bowl just like we were in 2001, 2003, and 2004.

I have plenty of pride, I've been a fan since i.was 8 years old in the early 80s. My head is always high and pride is different from reality . Criminals have alot of pride too! Agreed with you on great organization, great coach, owners. Disagree on the excuse making . I'm realistic, I'm a fan that recognizes the state of the team. People just have to temper expectations and stop thinking we are the championship patriots . That book is closed. We have to create another era of winning and that starts now! So don't hang your pride hat too high it's going to be a process however I welcome it!

I think if you look at the roster, the O has less personnel past 2024 than the D.

Lol, not sure why so argumentative.

I'm just looking at the roster and see a serious deficit in O players beyond 2024, more so than on the D side. I agree Tackle options aren't good in FAcy, so need to find them in the draft or re-sign some of our own.

We have not one single TE signed for 2024. I know you're not suggesting drafting 3 TEs. There's some decent options in FAcy.

We have plenty of CB depth past 2024. Not so much at Safety. I would target a S in FAcy. We need LBs for the same reason, and so on.

Fortunately it's not up to us. Wolf's FO staff will need to take care of it. No, I'm not for saving cash. I want them to spend, spend, spend, incl. void years so we can get elite talent.

The vikings trade for Jefferson + 11 + 2025 pick 1 looks enticing.

If 3 quarterbacks are taken at that point go with the 4th one which is JJ mccarthy . Even if we miss we have two more 1st rounders and Jefferson.

Who cares? That is not significant. NFL contracts expire. That surprises you?

You always think that someone who disagrees with you is argumentative. Just pointing out that you have your head up your ***. What is wrong with that?

Stop looking so closely at the roster and look at the FA space. We have TREMENDOUS flexibility over the next three years which means we have to make the right decisions going forward. Posters like @1960Pats and @Theloniousare and @203Pat are so full of BB hate they can not see straight. BB left us with the maximum flexibility (it might have been RK being a cheap bastard) which means a lot of correct decisions have to be made who to keep, who to sign in FA, and who to draft. Having the most cap space in the NFL over the next three years, who do you think we should sign? You already said we should sign offensive FAs. Having the most cap space in FA over the next tthree years, who do you think we should sign? You complain about posters' comments but never lay out your plan. Come on, what do you think? I know that you have no plan except WE NEED OFFENSIVE WEAPONS!!! Too funny. Please let me know your master strategy and prove me wrong. Please prove me wrong and lay out your thoughtful strategy.

You are looking so closely at one position when there are 22 positions on the field. Yes, TE is important, but we have a lot of holes.

We have no depth at outisde CB. After Gonzo was injured, J Jones was our outside best 2023 outside CB at 3 feet 10 inches tall, and we were still had the 9th best D in 2023. After Gonzo at CB, we have no-one.
Fortunately it's not up to us. Wolf's FO staff will need to take care of it. No, I'm not for saving cash. I want them to spend, spend, spend, incl. void years so we can get elite talent.
That a boy!! Spend, spend, and spend. You forgot to mention why we have been so frugal because of BB or RK? We have the most cap space in 2024, 2025, and 2026 combined (where is @Sam Bam Cunningham with his expert FA insight?) So do we sign defenive FAs and have a Top 5 defense or sign offenive JAGs? You suggest offensive FAs. I think that is stupid but I still love you.

No.

You don't just have to trade for Jefferson, you have to give him a top of the market new contract.

With no QB, no LT and some holes to fill that would be dumb.

Feel like some desperate team will throw a second or maybe even first for him. Hope to God its not us

Here’s the 2024 Patriot’s roster with some of their own free agents signed and the useless players crossed off:

OFFENSE
QB – ?, Bailey Zappe, Mac Jones,
LT – ?, Calvin Anderson, Vederian Lowe,
LG – Cole Strange, Michael Jordan
C – David Andrews, Jake Andrews,
RG – Sidy Sow, Antonio Mafi,
RT – Mike Onwenu, Conor McDermott, Andrew Stueber,
TE – Hunter Henry, Mike Gesicki, Pharaoh Brown,
RB – Rhamondre Stevenson, Ezekiel Elliott, Kevin Harris, Jamycal Hasty, Keshawn Vaughn
BIG WR – ?, DeVante Parker,
FAST WR – Tyquan Thornton, ?, Kayshon Boutte (S),
SLOT WR – Demario Douglas, Juju Smith Schuster, TJ Luther

DEFENSE
DT – Christian Barmore, Lawrence Guy, Davon Godchaux, Sam Roberts, Daniel Ekuale, Trysten Hill,
DE – Keion White, Deatrich Wise, Jeremiah Pharms, Will Bradley-King
SLB – Matthew Judon, Anfernee Jennings,
MLB – Ja’Whaun Bentley, Jahlani Tavai, Chris Board, Raekwon McMillan,
WLB – Josh Uche, Mack Wilson, Joe Giles-Harris,
SS – Kyle Dugger, Jabrill Peppers, Adrian Phillips, Marte Mapu,
FS – Jalen Mills, Ameer Speed,
BIG CB – Christian Gonzalez, Shaun Wade, Marco Wilson, Isaiah Bolden
SLOT CB – Jonathan Jones, Marcus Jones, Azizi Hearn

SPECIAL TEAMS
K – ?, Chad Ryland,
P – Bryce Baringer,
LS – Joe Cardona,
GUN – Brenden Schooler,

Assuming they re-sign some combination of Onwenu, Duggar, two of the three TE’s and either Uche or Jennings they need:

QB, LT, K and another WR or two if they don’t bring Bourne back. They can flood training campo with WR bodies.

I don't know what you're mad at me for. I was honestly hoping the Eagles or Cowboys would fire their coaches and Bill would take a job at a ready made team. With the pieces already in place he doesn't have to worry about a rebuild and nailing the draft he could do what he does best, game plan for the weekly opponent. I will root for Bill the same way I rooted for Brady when he was with the Bucs but I just don't fall into the BB worshipper club. He made lots of mistakes down the stretch in his career here and seemed to want to double down on some of them. I appreciate what he did here and honestly hope he ends up in a good spot next year but him missing out on a job this year stacks the deck even higher against him when he will be 73. If he doesn't get a job I am hoping we get to see Bill on TV and see the Bill we hear about from former players and coaches. The quick wit, the ability to recall the random minutia of the game, and his overall insight into the league without all the cloak and dagger crap that comes with being a head coach.

That is your assumption. The Pats have the most cap space in the NFL over the next 3 years (due to not using void years which would have required more up front cash). You assume the most cap space over the next three years is due to BB's mistakes, but is most likely due to RK who controls the purse strings. This is where you assume things, and you know what assume did? You assume that BB is responsible for the fact that the Pats are 32nd out of 32 teams in cap space over the next three years (32 out of 32 is too much of a conincidence to be accidental), and so it is difficult for me to understand how you missed that anomaly. I am not mad at you, when someone can not see something that is obvious, that is not on me, that is on them. The fact that the Pats are 32nd out of 32 teams in the most cap space available over the next three years is not a conicidence. It is a fact, and it is most likely due to the owner. Sorry to burst your BB hate bubble.

BB turned down the Falcons job according to Boomer Easiason. I see that you want to parse Boomer's words to refute that report. You accept every sports journalist's report that aligns with your beliefs, but when a report, like Boomer's, does not align with your emotioinal position, you malign the report (parse Boomer's words). Typical BB hater. Admit it, be honest. Trying to back pedal now is embarrassing. At least @1960Pats and @Thelonious own their hate and ugly disposition.

Players like Fields are great for teams that are just some type of functional QB away from being dominant. Like any of the Cowher era Steeler QBs. Most notably, Stewart, of course.

The Patriots are not that team. They don't have guys like Bettis, Thigpen, Wolford, Steed, Lloyd, Woodson, etc. They don't even run block well.

Thelonious here. Say now, did you ever get around to ****ing yourself, as I suggested? Yours, a concerned friend.

Silly. I will respond when I am at my laptop. Unfortunately this is probably the common approach on PatsFans. The focus has to be on FA value and winning, not short term solutions that are long term mistakes.
We've had plenty the last 4 seasons. No QB =no success. Proven fact!

Did you go to anger management classes? The new Thelonious is so nice, kind, and thoughtful. You already told us what a great school administrator you were, and now you are a great person too. So nice.
