Remember BB's mantra of "a year too early rather than a year too late". To BB's credit, he lived by that particular sword and died by it.
Yeah he ain't getting job over Ben Johnson or Bobby Slowik next year either approaching father times territory.

That's irrelevant to the question of a backup plan. Garoppolo was the backup plan. Kraft had huge issues with Belichick even preparing a backup plan. He freakin' holds the chart Belichick showed about aging QBs against Belichick for even showing him the chart. Brady was 37 yrs old when Belichick prepared that chart. He was drafting Garoppolo to be Brady's successor. So after everything that happened in 2017, the last thing Belichick is going to do is draft Lamar Jackson in the 1st round. Not after the 2017 drama.

Back up a little bit and realize that Curran has been reporting that Belichick expected Brady to come back. Personally I don't think so, but that's what he expected. I also think Brady saw the writing on the wall about the extreme old age of the team in 2018. He ended up on Ross's yacht because he wanted to move on from the Patriots, and he wanted to do it in a way that didn't hurt his legacy. This was stupid by Brady since any move to the Dolphins would've destroyed his legacy. But no one wants to ever talk about these things.
Ok.. so Brady wasn't worth 25 million a season? Again I'm just stating everything that's out there. Please understand this isn't a Brady Vs bill debate. Brady broke the whole mold of a career expectation from a QB. The guy as SAS reported directly from Kraft, Bill said he couldn't play anymore? I believe when his contract was set up by Bill in the 2019 off season that he was done.

You just read right over the inconvenient fact I posted. So I'm not sure what you expect from me.

It is plainly obvious that the Patriots were unwilling to prepare for the future because they were going all in on the old roster, all in on helping Brady with offense. 5 draft picks expended on WRs in 2019 alone (1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 6th).

And as for not being prepared for Brady's departure by taking a QB in 2019, consider the QBs who were taken: Daniel Jones, Dwayne Haskins, Will Grier, Ryan Finley, Jarrett Stidham!?!?!??!?

Texans played 4 playoff teams this year. Next year they play 8. Texans are not making the playoffs next year.

Good luck to the team who takes this kid:

You can't criticize them for making a backup plan to Brady and NOT making a backup plan for Brady's departure. People want to have it both ways.
Yes we 100% can. It was grossly mis-managed. An utter failure, and we all saw the results.

Your schtick has been to absolve Belichick 100% of every single thing that went wrong. Either you blame someone else for draft picks, FA signings, or trades that never happened; or you come up with ******** "reasons" to justify his malpractice. You would have us believe that Mac was 100% the reason for this season's disastrous record. Nobody is buying that man. Yes, Mac sucked. Bill sucked worse.

We get it dude, you're his biggest fan, but you have zero credibility continuing to push this delusional narrative that Bill did no wrong. It's quite laughable and you sound like a clown.

Really so you don't think C.J. Stroud is something special?? "Sings" only you...

Actually, he survived it, a year too late.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the pick of Mac Jones was thought of as a great thing by media, sportstalk and fans in general. He was coming from a pedigree program, great completion % and overall looked good for our offense. He did OK with a McDaniels run offense, but crapped the bed under Patricia and BOB. Personally I thought he looked like a country club kid who was used to a very good life and always minimally got participation trophies.

The 2021 draft was an anomaly among anomalies.. consider pick #2, Zach Wilson; #3 Trey Lance, #11 Justin Fields and #15 Mac Jones. Trevor Lawrence the #1 that year is pretty good, but does not break the thresh hold that was expected.

I am forever skeptical of high QB draft picks..
The 2021 draft class is much worse than advertised. Trevor Lawrence has not been nearly as good as he was supposed to be, but is still definitely the best of the bunch. Second-best is the 4th guy taken, Justin Fields, even though he still is somewhat unproven 3 years in. Even though it's dumb, 3rd best would have to be our 5th guy selected, Mac Jones simply because he had one decent year before faltering. #2 overall Zach Wilson has been terrible throughout, and #3 overall Trey Lance (whom SF traded a massive haul to select) has never done anything at all and looks like a career backup at best.

Definitely worth being skeptical. Caleb Williams has tons of physical gifts but there's also plenty of reasons to wonder if he will actually be a great NFL starter. Same for Maye. There's certainly a chance Daniels is better than both after some time. Or maybe they all end up being bad and like... Spencer Rattler is the best. Or something.

What don't you understand about draft value?

They used 2 first round picks and 1 second rounder.
All busts where they were selected.

You are absolutely incapable of dealing with facts. As always.
