Re: Honestly, can we now all agree that Maroney is NOT the answer as an every down ba

You know the homers who beleive every Patriots player will become a HOFer

Hell, with some of these homers you can put a guy with no legs in a Patriots uniform on the field and they will think he will be a future 10,000 yard rushing great

Maroney to be a bust? - chances are probably 70%

Maroney to be in a primary 1 back situation? - 1% probability IMO

I agree, If you question a player its like you are insane. All the stats and excuses come out. The insults and the denial.

The fact is Maroney is not worth his draft pick. The kid is not special aside from a few things. Hell you know the kid is a dissapointment when you get excited when he actually does his job once in awhile.

DaBruinz, you're kind of a mean prick, has anyone ever told you that?

Re: Honestly, can we now all agree that Maroney is NOT the answer as an every down ba

Okay, here's my last Maroney related post for a while. I've had enough of this discussion, it seems that the only way to make up from down is to start flinging insults because of what a sh!tstorm the conversation turns into.

Here's some stats for you, Deus Irae, DaBruinz, and the rest:

1984 Dolphins
Marino throws for 5,000 yards and 48 TDs
Woody Bennett rushes 144 times for 606 yards and a 4.2 YPC
Joe Carter rushes 100 times for 495 yards and a 5.0 YPC

1989 49ers
Montana throws for 3,500 yards and 26 TDs
Roger Craig rushes 271 times for 1100 yards and a 4.0 YPC

1991 Buffalo Bills
Kelly throws for 4,000 yards and 33 TDs
Thurman Thomas rushes 288 times for 1400 yards and a 4.9 YPC

1998 Minnesota Vikings
Cunningham throws for 3,700 yards and 34 TDs
Robert Smith rushes 249 times for 1200 yards and a 4.8 YPC

1999 St. Louis Rams
Warner throws for 4,400 yards and 41 TDs
Marshall Faulk rushes 253 times for 1400 yards and a 5.5 YPC

2004 Indianapolis Colts
Manning throws for 4,600 yards and 49 TDs
Edgerrin James rushes 334 times for 1550 yards and a 4.6 YPC

Yes. You are all right. A prolific passing game precludes the ability of a primary back to put up numbers and make a significant contribution. :bricks: :bricks:

2007 New England Patriots (projected)
Brady throws for 5,000 yards and 54 TDs
Laurence Maroney rushes 156 times for 650 yards and a 4.2 YPC

THAT is an awesome post!

So much for the "We're a passing team and that is why Maroney only gets 7-8 carries per game" argument...

Re: Honestly, can we now all agree that Maroney is NOT the answer as an every down ba

DaBruinz for some reason makes me think of Sam, the world's ugliest dog.

Da bruinz think's he is right all the time. If you dont agree with him he starts insulting you and melting down all over the place. See my 20 word posts about how maroney is a dissapointment, followed by a 1000 word dissertation filled with rage , insults and excuses by da bruinz.

Dont worry it will be called lies by the Maroney excuse makers!!!

I have found out that people in forums who are bullies are actually usually 5"3 120 pounds in stature and have been beaten up at school and had thier lunch money stolen everyday.

The computer and typing stuff bullylike can make these types of small midget-like people feel godlike since its not possible in thier own in real life to be able to show power or open thier mouths to someone.

A bunch of unrelated statistics with no context

Re: Honestly, can we now all agree that Maroney is NOT the answer as an every down ba

Is Maroney Phoney?

I have never called him a bust. At this point , it does not seem crazy anymore.

I would think a first round back like Maroney should start looking like a top back after 31 games in the NFL.

If you take a look at your own list, the Marino from 1984 rushers basically have the same stats as maroney.

Edgerrin james, (the only other back whose QB throws for a # around what brady is projected to throw for) will have more than twice as many carries as maroney is projected to get - how do those examples help your arguement?

Re: Honestly, can we now all agree that Maroney is NOT the answer as an every down ba

A lazy response that doesn't address those statistics in any way whatsoever

..........

Re: Honestly, can we now all agree that Maroney is NOT the answer as an every down ba

IMO Maroney cannot and will never be able to carry Addai's jock strap or be good enough to clean Jones-Drew's locker but I may be wrong, but I doubt it

Where those rushers highly coveted first round draft choices with high expectations?

So you have the same guy writing your jokes as your football commentary, huh? My first thought was that it was your wife, but who's stupid enough to marry you?

LMAO!!!! That's funny.

Re: Honestly, can we now all agree that Maroney is NOT the answer as an every down ba

The 1984 Dolphins stats offer the most compelling stats in favor of the argument that a prolific passing offense makes it impossible for a feature back to compile yards and carries. However, they had two backs that were used more or less equally, similar to the situation that we would have had if Sammy Morris was still healthy, a scenario in which Morris would have frequently carried the ball and that argument would never have even been offered on this board.

The point is that in the rest of those years, where the passer racked up huge touchdown and yardage totals, their primary back was able to crack 1000 yards in every case. So the argument that Maroney is going to finish this year with 600 yards "because why would you run when putting up those pass numbers?" doesn't hold water.

Exactly. Guys like DaBruinz who are quick to call someone an idiot, moron, *****, and other names on the computer to those who disagree with him wouldn't say two friggen words if they were face to face with that guy at the bar.

Re: Honestly, can we now all agree that Maroney is NOT the answer as an every down ba

..........

With three games to go Maroney and Morris total 1034. Add in Faulk, Evans and Eckel and you're already in the bottom of your list.

Add three games, you're in the middle somewhere.

What have you proved? Only the ability to use the copy and paste function.

Let's see, 13-0. Does that hold water? How many teams have gone 13-0? (It's not many).

What the hell does 13-0 have to do with the discussion about a 1st Rd running back that obviously isn't considered GOOD ENOUGH to take carries away from the passing game when EVERYONE and their grandmother knows a true STUD like LT, LJ, McGahee, and others WOULD be good enough to get more involved in the gameplan? Hey, I applaud the Pats for passing every down. I don't even want to see Maroney's bum can on the field. He sucks. I just assume put his can on the shelf for the rest of the year. He is useless anyway. I do, however, think it is fair to call this kid out for absolutely, positively NOT living upto his 1st rd draft pick. Because if he was GOOD ENOUGH he would warrant more carries in this offense and our offense would be even better!!!
