I really don't see the point in hiring BB without allowing him the players he needs to compete.I wouldn't be surprised if BB wanting total control could be a deal breaker. If I was an owner I wouldn't want to be looking for a new coach, front office staff and assistant coaches in three years. I would be interested in BB being my head coach only and have him build a solid coaching staff.
Yup. The league is just different. We don't have the whole "dictator coach that controls everything" mentality that used to persist in the past. Andy Reid doesn't want to do it, Pete wasn't doing. The Patriots were the last bastion of the coach shopping for the groceries and if you read between the lines of Kraft's press conference, Bil was fired mostly because they were over having him be the ultimate authority on all aspects of the team.
It's hard to envision a scenario where a team rips apart their front office for Bill to assume total control. Part of it is that he's 72 and not a longterm deal, but part of it is just that the NFL doesn't function that way anymore. Bill was an anomaly here and we kept it going until it stopped working. If he really wants full control, he's fighting an uphill battle and it's limiting already limited options.
Vrabel and Bowles for defense are just as goodThey were in the top 10 in least penalized teams this past year - NFL Football Stats - NFL Team Penalties per Game | TeamRankings.com
The point though is that come playoff time, there's no other HC out there that can prepare a team like Belichick.
What does this even mean?I bet there are some teams keeping their powder dry. If Atlanta falls through, they can come in and get a better deal. Belichick wants that record
Sucks but he screwed himself. The man was drunk with power making horrid decisions figuring none will come back and bite him in the @$$. He could of broken the record long ago but we know that story.I bet there are some teams keeping their powder dry. If Atlanta falls through, they can come in and get a better deal. Belichick wants that record
Agreed, Bill was a great coach time has passed him by. Nobody is going to put up with his act if he's not winning. Can't teach an old dog new tricks.1. Difficult to work with, check
2. 72 years old, check
3. Poor performance after Brady left, check
4. Wants control of talent, had control of talent, team has almost no talent, check.
5. Difficult with the media for no reason, check.
Any wonder why Teams aren’t lining up?
Belichick has reportedly already turned down the Eagles and Cowboys, both of whom wanted him. This should surprise no-one. One of the reasons Bill was going to have very few options is that no GM will want him because he would become their boss and they lose their power.
Of course many people on here did not want to hear it.
I have seen zero reporting on this. All I have seen so far is pure speculation from talking heads and none of which was positioned as reporting.Belichick has reportedly already turned down the Eagles and Cowboys, both of whom wanted him.
He apparently has made it known he's not interested in any large media markets. That rules out LA.
He will be the HC of Atlanta
Looking more unlikely. "Reportedly" the Falcons front office is in self preservation mode and pushing Blank into not hiring Bill.Belichick has reportedly already turned down the Eagles and Cowboys, both of whom wanted him.
He apparently has made it known he's not interested in any large media markets. That rules out LA.

Exactly. There is zero reporting that Belichick is not going to Atlanta. Just pure speculation from talking heads.I have seen zero reporting on this. All I have seen so far is pure speculation from talking heads and none of which was positioned as reporting.
While I agree with your general point the difference with Atlanta is 1) surprise it's not done yet given how quick things happen after interviews and 2) they took more interviews after him.Exactly. There is zero reporting that Belichick is not going to Atlanta. Just pure speculation from talking heads.
It's all speculation and y'all are running with it like it's fact lol.
The reports that both Dallas and Philly wanted him and he turned them down is just as reliable as all those other speculations. Which is, who the hell knows? Why speculate, let it all play out.
2 is the biggest problem for BB right now along with wanting control.1. Difficult to work with, check
2. 72 years old, check
3. Poor performance after Brady left, check
4. Wants control of talent, had control of talent, team has almost no talent, check.
5. Difficult with the media for no reason, check.

I listened to Mike Reiss earlier say he was shocked at how much dysfunction there was inside Foxboro and that ppl were actually glad when Bill left. It was worse than I imagined. Reiss is not known for being a scumbag reporter.I think the scorched earth slander campaign in the media against the Krafts and Mayo undertaken by Bill’s yes men and sycophants still in “the building “ is not helping Belichick’s chances of landing a job.
Why would any owner willing subject himself and his team to that nonsense for a soon to be 72 year old coach?
You do realize that Belichick was 56 with Cassel. And yes, age does matter, clearly as I've been saying for years. This is in the context of a rebuild where you don't have a QB or WRs. When he had those guys and didn't have Brady, the offense was enough to win games with Cassel and others.
