Mayo's Intoductory Press Conference

I don't mind if Mayo is naturally more personable....but I want a coach that is focused on one thing only....the next game.

Screw the media...they never did us any good....
Agree 100%.

Plus all these entitled fans think they are owed answers/explanations for what transpired during a game.

I'd like for Mayo to add a bit more color into decisions but at the end of the day it doesn't matter.

He owes me nothing

Meh, not sure what everyone wanted him to say? “My first act as HC is to rid the place of Mac Jones, Bill O’Brien and Joe Judge effective immediately.”

The whole weight room thing sounded like a 9th grade gym teacher though.
When he said we don’t want finger pointers or complainers.
I said bye Mac, and when he said he wants coaches to care about players I said Bye Obrein.
I think we will see a new offensive system.
Also I don’t think we will be in on Caleb.
Seems too soft for Jerod.

I’m really impressed with Mayo he will get so much out of his players.

One thing seems as true as we all suspect from the outside:

BB had been sensing more and more of a splintered locker room, and even coaching staff over the last 2-3 years. Which probably made the culture of the entire organization a more prickly place of late, causing BB to be quite dictatorial.
It seems Mayo needs to cull the herd first, and see who's worth building new with. I just hope they land a top-level OC.
Well said. Agree with the hire or not, he has to be able to hire his people and fire malcontents/underperformers.

Personally, I see no way Billy O can stay given how Mayo was hired.

Rather see Beineimy brought in as not a lot of chance he gets poached for a HC job as he’s had 4,569 interviews already.

1.) Mac Jones is virtually untradeable.... so short of cutting him, he'll be in thee QB room next year, IMO.

2.) It doesn't mean he will be the starter or even given enough reps in camp to "compete". He also needs to beat out Zappe as well plus a possible additional veteran if we bring in both a rookie and a vet.

i think he gets reps and time in pre season, if nothing else than to raise his trade value

i'm not convinced we see zappe come the end of camp......i think the odds of mac being there in august are greater, but who knows

Even if Mac gets fixed mechanically and mentally, I fear he'll always be the guy who will drop F-bombs on his OC on the sideline if he doesn't like the way the game is being called. Or *****es out teammates if he's having a bad game. And the vibe I am getting from Mayo is, if fear, he's going to get walked all over by malcontents.

you know, some of the behavior and the calling of old coaches makes a hell of a lot more sense now, though

bienemy can't be brought in as an oc. they can refuse any interview that isn't a promotion.

we have fans who wanted bb out after 5 years with no playoff wins and six titles. tomlin has 17 years,1 title and it's been since 2016 since pitt has won a playoff team. so the bb dumpers would settle for this record??????
Bill was here for 24 seasons. Along with the greatest QB created something that will.never be replicated. Tomlin has 1 championship. He replaced a great coach in Bill Cowher. NO ONE is coming close to what Bill has been. So I'm lowering my expectations. Mike Tomlin is a great coach and never had a loosing season he's won with mulptile different QBs outside of Ben.. of course he doesn't have the rings Bill does.. now neither does 31 other
head coaches.

So, is everyone feeling that the Pats are in a better place now since the season ended?
All that matters is week 1 September 2024 and beyond.. we can't make any judgments until then..

I feel bad for Mayo if that happens, because I don't think it will be him making that decision. Let Mayo start fresh with his own QB, don't saddle him with Belichick's problems.

And if they come back with Mac, no one can hold the Patriots' record against Mayo.

Having NO CHANCE at winning enough because your QB sucks is absolutely demoralizing for the entire offense.

This is a new day -- don't saddle Mayo with that.
Mac may or may not be the #3 QB this year.

And yes, we are all afraid that Josh will be hired and Mac will be competing for the starting job. They would still take a QB in the 2nd or 3rd.

No. This is beginning to look the start of a **** show. I hope we get some clarity once coaching hires and titles are announced. Right now we’re the same team minus BB which does not make us better.

tomlin is the GOAT mid coach

I don't really care about Mac all that much because I view him as damaged goods, but I think there was and is a pretty high chance that he goes somewhere else and we end up seeing him going back to 2021 Mac or even better with more talent and heads that were here at the time were going to roll anyways.

As far as keeping him. I'm of two minds. One, he is not the answer. Two, we aren't winning next year, so maybe it makes sense to get Harrison and load up on offense and then make a big play to draft a QB the following year. Any QB that comes in next year is in a **** situation where the majority of the talent they should be relying on will be either younger draftees or guys who just came in via FA to learn the system.

Wouldn't mind punting and hanging Mac out to dry another year to focus more on longterm and then identifying a QB prospect and making a trade up to get them.
I seriously don't get it.

If he can be the #1 for someone else, why isn't possible that he could be a #1 or #2 or #3 for us, with Josh as OC?
