Mayo's Intoductory Press Conference

What did he say?
Several sentences strung together, Needed a break from Bill, he'll change things so there's no echo chamber, he appreciates diversity of thought and will listen more. Each of these sentences came right after the other. Unless you understand them as part of the same context, they can be understood as criticisms of Bill. If you take them separately, maybe not.

I feel bad for Mayo if that happens, because I don't think it will be him making that decision. Let Mayo start fresh with his own QB, don't saddle him with Belichick's problems.

And if they come back with Mac, no one can hold the Patriots' record against Mayo.

Having NO CHANCE at winning enough because your QB sucks is absolutely demoralizing for the entire offense.

This is a new day -- don't saddle Mayo with that.
Has anyone confirmed the Pats are thinking about this at all? Or is this more just a fear.

Let’s not go to that scenario yet.

I don't think it was intended to be a serious dig, relax lol.
To the contrary, it's a constant theme. It keeps happening. "We need to break down silos in the coaching room."

It's perfectly OK to go about things differently. That's fine.

Drafting a bust at #3 is forgivable, trying to band aid the QB position with a Mac Jones and sinking the franchise into the toilet isn't.

I would rather swing and miss and keep swinging to try and fix the most important position in sports.

Great answer about racism by Jerome to add context, and differ, from Kraft's answer.

It needed to be said because there are so few Black NFL coaches relative to the people who coach football at all levels and play it.

The problem they may face is this: the top 2 guys go at 1 and 2. The 3rd guy isn't very good (at least that's my position). So they may say run it back with Mac. I would say take BPA at that point and come back later for Penix, Nix or trade for Fields. Not Mac!!!

I think it depends. If they draft a generational WR like MHJ and fix the tackle position and try to "fix" Mac but Mac still sucks, they just end up as probably around a 6 win team, but the rest of the offense is a lot better than it was. Then they can use their high pick next year on a QB. Or alternatively, Mac actually gets fixed and they don't need to worry about the position.

I don't love that plan, and really don't want to go that route, but I understand the thought process.

I guess you wouldn’t have been a Patriots fan pre-Kraft.
LOL... every single owner we've had has gotten into bad messes. Sullivans, Kiam (I dont count Orthwein), Kraft with Parcells.

You know what scares me most?

Mac gets fixed.

Because if you end up fixing that guy, your heart will be broken down the road at a critical spot in the playoffs.

I was a fan when they were still in Fenway.

I followed for so many years hoping that they could somehow become relevant. Saw a possible SB stolen from them by Ben Dreith, the 1986 beat down by the Bears, and the Rat-sabotaged Green Bay game.

I got paid back in spades when BB came on board and we had our dynasty.

I don’t like what I am seeing now, and this recent separation from BB and the aftermath does not fill me with confidence.

We shall see what happens.

Probably, but if they switch offensive systems to something he's a better fit for, maybe he can be decent? I don't know... Can he become as good as Goff is?

Collaboration great to say in a press conference until it's nut cutting time and you're on the clock with that number 3 pick, someone has to make the final decision.

Funny how it's never collaboration when a pick has gone bad 3 years later and people are fired, someone always wanted the all pro drafted 3 picks later in their mind.
Because they viewed the situation as Bill being the problem having ultimate say and it stagnating the rest of the staff who were tasked with identifying talent. They view it as addition by subtraction.
