Mayo's Intoductory Press Conference

He’s going to learn the hard way that careers are long. You don’t throw shade at your mentor when you take his job.
What did he say?

What's with the super secrecy about the whole personnel thing, they told us thru the years that was all down to Bill.

At least with Bill you could say the buck stops with him, that number 3 pick decides the future of the franchise if Wolf likes Daniels and Groh likes Harrison then what?

This is the dumbest situation going, this is the type of thing that happens when ownership wants a say in personnel.

My concern is that these are just platitudes. Every coach must listen and learn. Obviously Belichick is a walking encyclopedia of information. There's also the idea that there is really not much new under the sun. Even Miami's "new" offense is not new in the least. The key for coaches is listening and then knowing what will be successful. Having your own core principles despite the "new" info you're hearing.

I'm glad Mayo is a defensive coach because the thing I'm seeing in this league is that people that understand offense know how to shut it down the way Miami has been shut down. The people who are ultra aggressive on defense (Dallas and the Rams) end up in a big mess.

Collaboration great to say in a press conference until it's nut cutting time and you're on the clock with that number 3 pick, someone has to make the final decision.

Funny how it's never collaboration when a pick has gone bad 3 years later and people are fired, someone always wanted the all pro drafted 3 picks later in their mind.

Mayo talking about "the next Patriots dynasty" seems a bit.... premature?

“Needed a break from Bill” when referring to his stint working in finance
Pretty sure this was said in jest. Especially when he refers to Bill as a mentor.

If they skip out on a QB and believe in Mac that decision could set the franchise back for years. I know the draft is not guarantee however we know Mac isn’t a legitimate starter.
I feel bad for Mayo if that happens, because I don't think it will be him making that decision. Let Mayo start fresh with his own QB, don't saddle him with Belichick's problems.

And if they come back with Mac, no one can hold the Patriots' record against Mayo.

Having NO CHANCE at winning enough because your QB sucks is absolutely demoralizing for the entire offense.

This is a new day -- don't saddle Mayo with that.

I am not going to have a lot of patience with this change. It already looks clumsy, and my interest in the Pats and NFL is waning.

I am not going to invest a lot of time in a dysfunctional franchise if they don’t get this right quickly.
