He is a true Pats fans who bought the team and saved them from moving to St. Louis. He made the momentous decision to hire Belichick.
He funded the stadium mostly with private funds.
Overall he has been pretty hands off as an owner and gave almost complete control to BB.
This town could do a lot worse than Kraft.
If you don't believe me look what that cheapskate John Henry is doing to the Red Sox. He doesn't care at all about the fans or the Sox.
That poster is senile. Now I'm confused here. They traded Garoppolo to SF in 2017. . . .
Dolphins approached Brady and supposedly Payton, not the other way around.I am not ignoring the time-line at all. It fits quite nicely.
2014 - Belichick drafts Garropolo as the succession plan. He wanted to trade Brady as he gets into mid 30ths. This article and many others have discussed this to death. Bill's plan was probably trade Brady in 2015 or 16 after Garropolo gets up to speed. By then Brady would be mid 30s.
2015 - We win SB #4. Trade plan is now on hold as you can't really trade someone who just had such a year.
15-17: Brady plays lights out and wins another SB. Brady is now untradeable and Garropolo's contract is coming due. This is when Bill could not entertain Brady trades with 49ers.
19: Brady wins another SB. That offseason (summer 19) Brady approachs Bill asking for a long term contract. Bill does not budge and Kradt supports Bill.
It is at this summer of 2019 that Brady gets his contract changed to ensure free agency. All parties at this point knew Brady was done next summer.
After that and only then did Brady approach Dolphins. I would not at all be surprised if next week or next year or whenever, it comes out that Bill started reaching out to potential teams way before this Wednesday or even last game. It is normal business practice to set one's self up for next job when you know current one is about to be done.
They only hear what they want to hearDolphins approached Brady and supposedly Payton, not the other way around.
That’s what she saidHarder…
Wickersham's article was about 2017!!!!!!
What trade plan from 2014 and 15?
Where did you ever come up with that?
And now you're defending Brady showing up on the Phins owners' boat? They're the archrival, he's under contract. Having an agent reach out during late in the season is one thing, but BEFORE the season starts you're on someone's boat? You're defending that? Seriously? We had games to play against his supposed team. We even lost the final game against them.
This is honestly nuts.
Everyone talks about Brady showing up at Kraft's house (again, according to Wickersham) and delivering the news he's leaving. So sad. Because according to you, this was all a phony show. He was out the door the year before!!!
You can't have it both ways. He was out the door in the summer of 2019 and he was just putting on a phony show in 2020.
They are trying to hurt Belichick's appeal to a new team. They want to destroy him so it doesn't blow back on them.
The Krafts are snakes. Let's face it.
You've got to give Bob credit for keeping them all together for as long as it lasted though. Imagine having to deal with all three of their egos for 20 years. That's a ****ing long time.It sucks that we won't have the opportunity to simply enjoy the greatness that we all enjoyed. Thanks to the media and the egos of the chief protagonists all we are left with is memories of the GOAT QB who ultimately became a diva and wanted to get away from the GOAT HC who helped him become successful, the GOAT HC who couldn't check his ego to find common ground with the GOAT QB when things got dicey and an ownership group who is more focused on how they look than making difficult decisions which led to behind the scenes meddling which ultimately brought it all crashing down. The fact that the GOAT QB and the GOAT HC were so good for so long that it made any normal succession planning impossible and took too much attention away from the team owners did not help the situation. I look forward to the next chapter once the pent up vengeance has been achieved by all parties. I hope that all will retain their dignity in the end.
Well said. Suffice to say that a certain clique of posters here will lose sense of purpose when this tediously perpetuated Brady vs. BB drumbeat fades to nothing. In that respect, thank goodness for the passage of time and good riddance to their butthurt campaign.
Jonathan is a Harvard MBA who cut his teeth working for Bain. He’s a bean counter and a hatchet man. Guys with his pedigree don’t need to know anything about the underlying business. They just need to be able to count heads and dollars and cut to the bone when their counting says there are too many heads and not enough dollars. The Krafts are becoming as bad as Snyder with their meddling.
It really is a disgrace.
Jonathan of all people is going to tell us about football.
10 ---> 8 ----> 4The Krafts are quickly going to realized what irrelevance means. BB sure has made mistakes but he was very close fixing all of them.
The Krafts acted like fans vice clear thinking owners. They should watch Manchester United to see the future they are going to get, changing coaches every 2 to 3 years.
Regardless, I would say any Head Coach inheriting the Patriots job has a tall task ahead of him. Finally read the entire article and wow…this isn’t a good look for the Krafts. Mayo has a tall task ahead of him.
Who do you think kept them together for 20 years? If certainly wasn't Bill.Kraft's capitulating to BB was disastrous. He let BB damage the Franchise and in the end self destruct.
I have never been impressed by Kraft. His drunken "we are all Patriots" speech in 2001 was cringe. I think his Orchids of Asia debacle cost us the chance to keep Antonio Brown and win another Superbowl in 2019.
His handling of SpyGate, DeflateGate and CameraGate was despicable.
Now he has lost both GOATs. He could have and should have prevented this awful denouement.
So kraft can step in and release a statement of hiring BOB and extend mayo without BB;s blessing byt cant overrule what he wants to do with Brady ?Kraft is an idiot for taking Bill's word that Brady was in decline. That's Bob's fault. In any case thank goodness its over and we're moving on.
Says the guy that listens to the Buffalo media. LolWe've gone over such twisted narratives, we've demonstrated why they're wrong 100x, what else is there to say? You guys listen to Boston media too much, the media in Boston is full of haters, and you're easily lead astray. I'm going to defend Kraft and Mayo from them from now on because their ethnicity/skin color means a lot to the Patriot radio guys. And they are going to be attacked on that basis. Kraft is cheap, Mayo is dumb. That's the narrative that's going to build in the next year.
Nope, but we're getting Lavishka Shenault - half the production at a quarter of the price!I mean, are we getting Tee Higgins?
