What about Steve Belichick

If he knows what's good for him and has 2 brain cells, he does not follow Bill whatever happens.

Nobody will take him seriously if all he does is work for his father and sooner or later his father will retire.
Just go to another team. I'm sure someone would hire him as a DC.

I would be shocked if someone hires him as DC. As far as the rest of the NFL is concerned he has not proven anything.

His best chance is he is DC here but I would be ok with that only if Mayo wants him. If not he will probably need to be a position coach somewhere else.

The only people that think SB hasn't proven anything live on this forum.
Nope. Literally nobody in the NFL will hire him to DC (one of 3 top coaching positions in a team) because nobody can actually trust his role was due to competence and not fatherly love.

What do you think BB was doing on game days? Whispering sweet nothings into SB's headset? Doing SB's homework for him during the week? Just come out and say it.

Nope, has nothing to do with my feelings. Nobody will risk their livelihood to hire Steve as DC because they will not know for sure he is capable. It is a risk not worth taking.

Outside of his dad's next team or here, he will need to start lower than a DC. That I am fairly certain of.

I think Steve B is gone. Not necessarily to work with his dad but somewhere other than Patriot Place.
I suspect all hints and remnants of the BB era will be gone.
How's that when all Mayo knows is Belichick's coaches. He's never played anywhere else or coached anywhere else. I suspect they might actually be scrambling to keep some of the same guys.

Why, because he worked for his father as coach of half the linebackers?

Naah, his best chance for DC is here.

I do agree that he could go elsewhere, but I think that he would be a position coach.

Imagine staying with a company after they fired your father.

This is some weird **** if Steve stays.
It's a little different with these millionaires, in a normal workplace like we have yeah, but in the NFL it's different.

Does anyone here realize that SB knows more about coaching than Mayo? You can go all apoplectic on the NeP0tIzMs but that is a fact.
Going to be wild in 5 years when Kraft is welcome SB as the next HC of the Patriots and RK is getting all teary eyed over hiring the son of the guy that made his franchise relevant

I was definitely hoping that Bill could hang on until Steve was ready to take over, but with the big time failure of Mac Jones, that went out the window.

I think that Steve could start as the defensive coordinator of at least half a dozen NFL teams and have some growing pains but settle in OK, especially if Daddy stays out of the picture and lets him be his own man.

well the pats just hired a hc who has less coaching experience than steve does. so...

They need to keep Steve if possible as Mayo is going to have his hands full..

He earned his experience and is also a very good former NFL player. Steve is in the NFL and a Pats coach because and only because of his father.

Ridiculous and disingenuous comparison.

The hoops that BBs boys were put through were just as hard or harder than those of others. I get it- Mayo is a BB guy who isn't. SB is an accomplished coach who isn't. They are both Patriots employees because of BB, but aren't. Mayo is his own man. SB is an amoeba with a snoot full of dip. It's all good. Perception is everything. Both of these guys have earned their way.

Both Belichick boys need to move on and prove they aren't nepo hires.

Will be good for them if they're competent.

No one respected Kyle Shanahan when he worked for his dad.
