Compensation if BB signs elsewhere??..

We know how most coaching contracts work. We have no idea what Belichick's contract actually said.
We know that every coach contract ever discussed was guaranteed.
We don’t know the sun will come up tomorrow, do we?

You are granting an asset it's mobility based on your satisfaction for it's worth in the market.

That is control.
So, you and others here are saying BB ain't worth **** to anyone?

I didn't say play hardball. Coaches get traded for assets now and again - Kraft's been in on such deals twice.

He didn’t really grant anything. If he fired him, belichick gets his $$ and freedom. The alternative is to keep him. You can’t get rid of him and retain rights to him.

I did not say that.

...and I stated why he should not do that for BB.
He could only do that if belichick agreed. It would require retaining belichick. If he didn’t want to retain belichick then there can’t be comp. Comp only happens when the coach resigns, at which time compensation is required to release him from his ****ract.
Belichick would have just stuck around and coached the patriots.

Why would he agree to go amicably if he doesn’t get the 25 mill he would get for being fired. There would be no downside to belichick to demand that.
Because an internet moron finds it amazing that everyone doesn't recognize how nice and chummy RKK and BB are after working together for 25 years. It just wouldn't be good form for BB to put his personal needs ahead of RKK's feelings. Right?

He would give up the $25 million to have no strings attached. Otherwise he couldn’t work for another NFL team without Kraft giving his approval, and that would require BB’s new employer giving up draft assets Bill won’t want to give up.
There is no way Bill gave up the $25m. No way. Even if he goes to another team it is very unlikely anyone who hires him will give him anything close to $25m per year. They worked out some sort of agreement/buyout.

I’m not sure I understand what you are trying to say here.

Are you saying belichick handed back the 25 mill to make Kraft happy?

LOL, I am saying that yesterday you were adamant that everyone loved each other. Today, you are saying it's not surprising the BB is playing hardball. WTF

He could only do that if belichick agreed.
Yes. Same way Kraft agreed with Brady not to tag him. He could have been a prick was wasn't.

Yep. Kraft wanted good will but he needed to know Bill wanted it as well. They had it.
Belichick would have just stuck around and coached the patriots.

No they would put him on ice and have made him a consultant so he keeps his money but loses a year not coaching. Bad blood ensues.

When did I say that? I said they worked together for 25 years and have 25 years of interaction leading up to this. I said nothing about their feelings toward each other, mostly because that isn’t relevant.
In what way is bb playing hardball?
He has a contract. If he is fired he gets paid. To suggest he would say “ok Bob thanks for firing me, jerk the 25 mill” is ridiculous and not doing so is certainly not “hardball”. He in fact did the opposite and went along with the mutually agreed story and held a press conference completing Kraft.

He didn’t really grant anything.
Sure he did. He isn't asking for compensation if another team wants him.

Thats not what happened.

Thats what I think happened as well. He got < $25m and freedom as opposed to getting $25m, not potentially have a good shot at catching Shula and in a place that isn't 100% his preference.

Brady has nothing to do with this.

Nevertheless you can’t trade a coach unless the coach agrees.

Kraft wanted to not be seen as the guy who fired the GOAT. So they agreed to call it mutual because the was no reason for BB not to. But you can be sure he gets his money.

To my knowledge, and to nfl rules, you can’t have a contract that takes responsibilities away and have that person be forced to stay.

Sure he did. He isn't asking for compensation if another team wants him.
He can’t ask for compensation because he fired him. The only way he gets compensation is if bb chooses to leave on his own against krafts wishes.

Why would he not be able to go to a place that is his preference?
You cannot trade a coach without their approval

Do you think Kraft could trade him to whatever team he wanted without belichick agreeing to it?

I don't know why this thread is still alive. There is no compensation for the team to get. BB didn't resign RK fired him.

Brady has nothing to do with this.
Yes it does. We know how Bob views these things.
Nevertheless you can’t trade a coach unless the coach agrees.
That didn't happen. They probably negotiated the conclusion of the contract based on agreed-upon terms

I'm sure he got something in exchange for.....

See Pete Carroll. They did something there. Prob kept his comp/contract length the same

Yes. They didn't fire him.

Are you serious with that question?

Preference meaning go somewhere less optimal just to coach.

Kraft avoid all that BS

100% serious. Kraft could not trade him anywhere without him agreeing.
