Injuries happened too, more than our usual it seemed, especially on the defensive side. If I do have one gripe about BB is that he'll shut a player down for injury without giving them a chance to return to help the team. IR or nothing hurt us many times IMO.
We do have a good foundation on the D side.
What I see is, there is a #3 pick available to a team with $100 million in Cap Space. Do I want BB in charge of that? Yes. Find me someone better. You can't. Will it improve to an extra win or a playoff game? Who knows. BB deserves to go out on his own terms, I just don't understand the hatred for a man that did so much here in New England.

Now I understand the where the rabid anti-Jones sentiment came from. Some fans really think this is an awesome team and Jones was the only one holding them back from a deep playoff run lololololololol

Homer delusion at its finest.

None of these things apply. I am saying if the qb play was adequate those are wins. No reasonable person can say those games are not wins if they patriots get average qb play. Hell if they got it for a drive or 2 that might have been enough.
We can pretend that having the worst qb play in the nfl, and if it wasn’t the absolute worst all year, it surely was in those 7 games, means nothing, because we want to be angry and blame someone and it’s not unique to point to the player who sucked.
Facts are still facts though.
Indeed they are.

2023: It's all the QB's fault that we lost 13 games. Singlehandedly held us back from being great.

2021: It wasn't all Brady in NE and he didn't win that Tampa Super Bowl by himself! Football is a team sport.

Certainly no hatred from my end but Bill doesn't get to leave when he wants.

Decisions have to made with what's best for the team, not for Bill.

I would like to see fresh ideas introduced but wouldn't be too upset if Bill stays on as coach but he simply can't be GM ad should have little say in who we draft and pickup up.

AT LEAST, are games that were lost with abysmal qb play that just mediocre qb play would have resulted in wins. I’m not sure how that is even arguable.
I'm going to help you....kind of.

Pats were 4-2 when they had more than 200 yards passing. 0-11 when they didn't.

Pats were 4-5 when they turned the ball over once. 0-8 when they turned it over more than once

Pats were 3-1 when they scored over 20 points, 1-12 when they didn't.

Yes- the NEP QBs were bad. Here is where your argument is flawed.

The Steelers' QBs threw for less TDs and only 100 more yards and they finished 10-7. Why? Pickens, Warren, Harris, Johnson and a very good o-line. Their kicker made 93.5% of his FGs. Ours 62.5%. Their D was also better and forced 11 more turnovers.

Having better QB play improves the chances of winning. The problem is with this roster that is far from a certainty. The offensive talent on the line and at the skill positions is awful and cannot sustain consistent production. We've seen it all year and for you to say it isn't even an argument is laughable.

There were 3 groups of Anti-Jones on here.

1. One group using it to defend Bill the GM.
2. The other using it as an indictment on Bill the GM.
3. And the rest that just didn't think he was any good.

I'd take Zappe and Jones any day over what the Jets had at QB sans Rodgers this season. And they still finished 3 games ahead of us. I wonder why...

So many people here see themselves as superior talent evaluators to BB,

And they project resentment.

If is quite tedious.

Yep. Their kicker made 94.1% of his FGs, had a 1000yd receiver, kick ass RB and their D forced 28 turnovers.

Are you taking into account what the defense did, especially against far better QBs than the Pats had?

That entire draft of QBs sucked. All the way up to Lawrence. He choked today, their one chance to get in. Who should he have drafted?

So if a man climbs to the top of the mountain six times out twenty, were you rooting for a goose to **** on his head all of the other times?

Mac on the Jets would have probably been an 8 or 9 win team this year but he still would have sucked.

Their OL is almost as bad as ours. Jones wouldn't have a chance.

Mind boggling that Rodgers knew this and went there anyway.

The Jets will aggressively address the OL this off-season.

12-4 in 2019-2020
You can wear the blinders if you want…makes no difference to me.

But facts are facts…this team has been on a steady decline since 2018. You can choose to ignore it but it doesn’t change reality.

Significant change is long overdue and it starts with BB. He needs to go.

2019 Super Bowl.
12-4 the next season.

Then they began the rebuild.

Teams go through rebuilds.

It's a spoiled Patriots fanbase that expects it to last forever, but hey, if Kraft royally screws this up, I guarantee you they go through the wilderness of not winning for many many many years

Defense. Maybe a chance if BB had his way? We still needed a QB. Mac was the grab we wanted, and needed to replace TB. Nobody saw him cower the way he did. Not even your besties. The game got to fast for him. If you ask me, that's when the RK meddling began. There's two videos of Mac throwing a ball. His initial try out with BB and the video of RK hanging his head in Germany. That to me takes two years away. I'm more worried that Kraft is out over his skis than I am about him making the right decision.
Like I keep saying, find one better, with the ability to uphold our expectations to make it an immediate improvement. You can't.

Belichick has his pulse on this franchise, and in better shape than he has since we started our winning ways.
