I fell asleep during the half (jet lag) and woke up when Russ was driving them for the tie at 23.

Hard to not be happy with a win but also very unhappy about the draft impact. Where are we now?

Hope Bill does not convince Kraft to stay (at least remove GM power) and hope they draft a QB high.

That said I was happy for Zappe as his reaction showed what it meant for him. Am I a sucker to think he could be a decent starter in the league if he learns to cut out the dumb interceptions and throw away the ball when a sack is imminent?

He was dreadful in camp and in preseason. Like McCorkle terrible. The rest of the league shared that opinion or someone would have claimed him on waivers.

Maybe he's just one of those guys who does better in the game than practice..

He is the best ever, so he should have a contract as long as he wants one.
As the facts come clear we would be firing the GOAT simply because the QB he took in round 1 held his team back.

He makes every decision in that organization almost exclusively. He's the reason this roster isn't Superbowl worthy. No one else.

He had a good run. But we're almost closer to the Bill of the last 4 years the the Bill that was winning 80% of his games

I agree. But what does Kraft think? It becomes harder to fire him if he goes on a little winning streak here.

Kraft will be petrified to repeat the Brady mistake. Especially if it looks to him like there are other factors to their record

He’s made every decision for 25 years and it’s the best 25 years any organization has ever had.
Every organization has down times. Dumb is to have the best and get rid of him when you need him the most. With the picks and cap space available, he can set up the next 10 years.

I do want to point out that Zappe is playing with the same terrible supporting cast that Mac had, if not worse. And he has done well.

Put a few legitimate weapons around him and maybe Zappe could be a decent QB in the league, despite some limitations.

He's shown no ability to draft for today's NFL.

Id argue that he hasn't been a good talent evaluator in over a decade.

If youre telling me were keeping Bill the coach while someone else makes the player decisions than great. But we both know that ain't happening.

Funny how Zappe clicks with Parker but Mac and Parker just can't get on the same page.
It's just luck. Parker was certainly hurt earlier and didn't fight for those jump balls (half ended up INTs for Mac)
Parker turned into Devante Adams last night, catching every contested ball.
It wasn't Zappe being more accurate or stronger arm, that's for sure.
But - to give credit, if guys want to fight harder for Zappe because he inspires more, then so be it - that's why he's starting.
I'm not ready to settle the QB position for next year though.

Upgrading from Zappe and especially McCorkle Jones really shouldn’t be that hard.

And half of the other half have been Tom Brady, who skewed all the stats.

Far more than half of the QBs not named Brady have been less than HOF.
TB has proven to be a cheat code for whatever you're arguing; anti and pro.
Not YOU personally.
Any football subject or person.
Well with TB..blah blah blah
After TB blah blah blah

Every draft is different. Early on, Caleb Williams was considered "generational." Is he still? Not so sure of that.
I don't see anyone that every team is clamoring to get - no Andrew Luck or Joe Burrows or anything like that (other than maybe Williams, but I suspect other QB-needy teams' draft board have the same responses as here).

It's weird that the top-2 consensus "best" QBs weren't even in the Heisman running, eclipsed by three other QBs (Daniels, Nix, and Penix).
It's weird that there's a ton of uncertainty on who's even coming out this year because of NIL. MHJ makes far more bank STAYING at Ohio State. Williams has hinted that he might stay another year at USC. Ask on this board, and probably others, who's the QB to take and you'll get several different answers - Williams, Maye, Daniels, Nix, Penix, McCarthy...total crap shoot.

We've all been focused on OFFENSE, obviously, regarding the draft, but there are some tremendous defensive players coming out - and it's a strong possibility that the first 5 picks won't all be offense. For the Pats, seems like it should certainly be offense in Rds 1, 2, and 3.
So with that prelude: Last night was a blast to watch. Happy for the team and hoping Ryland put the yips behind him and hoping Zappe continues to develop.

It's going to be a helluva interesting offseason (and I still strongly believe BB is back).

The Broncos forum is calling out “Sucktain” lol

Hey if they don’t want him we’ll take him.

He’s very good, they’re just bitter they got Zappe-d and ended their season

Someone should dub the Titanic song over a shot of Ryland’s game winner. Lol

Does illustrate the crapshoot of “can’t miss QB’s”. Young has been absolutely awful.

Which…

Also forces a dive into “what is around your early rd 1 QB?”

Jury is out on if Young sucks, or Carolina surrounded him with trash.
Well, they gave away the chance to put anything around him by trading their #1 this year to get him.

#1 picks are precious, and should not be sloughed off so easily.

The piper WILL demand payment eventually.

He is the greatest ever. Cherry picking and generalizing while ignoring the circumstances doesn’t stack up to the positives which are far greater than anyone else who has ever done the job.

Nice that you think he hasn’t been a good talent evaluator in a timeframe that include 3 SB championships , yes that is more any active hc or GM.

Gonzalez and White qualify for “today’s NFL”, don’t they?
