You're not alone. There's a lot of people that believe that. Thing is why?

1. Is it to finally be able to unload Mac over RK's objections?
How do we know for sure that RKK and Bill aren't on the same page with Mac? How do we know that RKK didn't sign off on all of this? Ship out the mutineers, leave Mac hung out to dry, all while playing nice with the media (talking about RKK, obviously), with the plan to move on from him at the end of his rookie deal. Mac's lack of performance just speeds this up.
2. To get a better draft position? That's very doubtful in my mind.
Yes. They can either draft another QB, in which case the position is still under the rookie contract for another 4-5 years, or they can go get a vet and draft Harrison if available. I don't think they (RKK and Bill) want to pay a Mahomes level contract, and tie up 15% of the cap in one player. I think if they can sign a vet to a reasonable deal they will, but those rookie contracts are dammed enticing.
3. Regardless, there's a huge risk over everyone asking for his head. Unless, he's confident his contract makes it extremely painful for RK to unload him.
Unless of course that RKK and Bill are on the same page. They were just a short few months ago when Bill signed the extension.
I don't think he's tanking. I think he's lost it and what we're witnessing is the end of his career, even if he stays. Item 1 still intrigues me. I honestly don't believe Bill liked Mac but RK for whatever reason protected him. Maybe Mac gave him a handy.
I think you might be looking at RKK like this magnanimous old grandpa, albeit a horny one, as opposed to the ruthless businessman needed to be to be successful in the NFL in the 21st century. I think RKK has cultivated this image thru philanthropy and going from a semi-drunk fan to a dottering old man. He's neither. He's a ruthless killer who will do what it takes to win in business. He has Bill to be the bad guy face to the media, all while playing nice and kissing schmucks like Goodell in the ear.
.
From all reports, Bill is still Bill, so players are either protecting him or he's still on top of his game. What's more likely, he's suddenly lost the ability to coach up mid level players, or he recognizes that Mac is not leading them to the promised land and seizes the opportunity to move up in the draft to get a better shot at a top talent? I think the brain drain is a real thing when it comes to his staff, but I cannot wrap my head around the fact that they are trying to win and look as bad as they did. I also think it's convenient that they won Thursday and did not damage their chances at the second pick.

I don't take anything at face value when it comes to the NFL. I think it's horribly corrupt, and I think that everyone and his brother in the NFL
knows who's going to be the first pick. They can't leak it, because there's an industry that's out there on the NFL draft that's worth a chunk of change, so everyone plays along. Then we will have another Draft-stock scene with fans looking like they are attending a giant rock concert, to watch suits walk across a stage and say "with the upteenth pick of the 2024 NFL draft, your favorite team selects THIS GUY from State U."

Yeah, I think it's all theater. Players still play, but if the NFL can manipulate it, they will.

I thought it was great. And when the Pats beat them again and knock them out of the playoffs I'll like that even more. Man it's great to be a fan of a winner. The funny thing is if the Pats beat the Bills and Jets again they'll be 4-0 against them but still pick in front of them in the draft.
Can't payback the Dolphins this season for 2019 but we can definitely give some payback to the Bills for 21 and 22. Sweeping them would be nice.

I mean we don't know. All we can do is look at certain events and try to connect the dots.

1. RKK spoke highly of Mac during the '22 and '23 off seasons saying he was the guy. Mac was seen hanging around Kraft's home, riding a limo to a C-game w/ him. RKK was seen looking very dissapointed during some of the games after Mac threw picks.

2. Bill never really spoke highly of Mac as his QB1. There were many instances where he was unwilling to vocalize his support. After the '22 season when it was disclosed: Mac reached outside foxboro for advice, players leaked how horrible it was dealing with Fat Matt/Judge, and all the histrionics on the field yelling at coaches; Bill never committed to Mac as the starting QB. I believe Bill knew at the end of the '21 season that he wasn't the guy. Then all the benchings, not committing to name him as starting QB, etc.

Based on the above, I believe RKK wanted to hold on to Mac over Bill's objections. Fat Matt, his good friend, was the fall guy that he had to dump for/because of Mac.

Sure, but that's common sense, it doesn't mean they planned a tank job

Nah, I think RKK is a shrewd sob. He just doesn't seem like Ross who we know wanted BFlo to tank. Maybe I'm wrong.

Everything you're saying means Bill is back next season as GM/HC which is depressing enough. Lol

Bill's a miserable SoB, to be sure. We know his coaching style is not for the faint of heart. We heard him giving Brady a ration of **** and telling him he could get Johnny Foxboro to throw an out. At that point, Brady was clearly a HoF'er and the GOAT talk started. My point is that Bill doesn't play warm and fuzzy with guys. I don't take any consideration into that when it comes to Mac. I think Bill played hardball with the kid to toughen him up. Instead, he turtled.

Aside: I know he did talk glowingly when Cam Newton was here, but I always thought that had more to do with Cam playing for peanuts than it did his love for Cam's game.

Bill: Look Cam, our cap situation is f*cked, this is what we got left.
Cam: FIne. I'll play for you for whatever you have left to pay me, but I don't wanna hear any of that Johnny Foxboro crap. I'll help you out, you help me get the next contract.
Bill: Deal.

Maybe. Perhaps Bill walks away and goes fishing. I know there's all this Shula talk, but how much of that is media driven, and how much of that is **** Bill cares about? Yes, I know he's a student of history of the game. I also know he's an old school and likely cares more about Halas' record than Shula's. Bill's place in history is secure, regardless of where he is in the all time standings.

Two more 4 win teams won tonight.

Very good.

They would pay it if the new QB is a Mahomes level player.

If they try and cheap out on a great QB, there won't be hope for success in the future.

They aren't getting another great QB who will give discounts like the last elite QB they had.

This weekend was INCREDIBLE. Just need Washington and az to each win one more and that should about lock up the 2.

Curious: How's Mahomes' receivers this year?

Terrible

Luckily, I'm not seeing any other elite AFC teams sans Baltimore.

Not sure I trust Lamar in the postseason.

Maybe they'd be doing better if he took a little less and, you know, kept a good WR or two?

Not feeling great about Maye after looking at his mug shots, too much like Darnit Darnold. Bit of Daniel Jones too. Not very confidence inspiring.

Lamar has better passer/rushing numbers than Mahomes on a lot of categories. His 21/6 total TDs to INT is much better than Mahomes' 23/11. Their completion % is almost the same.

Here are the QBs that beat Mahomes. They certainly don't look any better than Lamar. His total passing yards is lower because they rely more on the run (ranked #1). He has the highest Y/A and RTG of the 6.

BAL also has the top #2 defense in total yards and points. I wouldn't underestimate them beating the Chiefs, especially if played in BAL.

Better bring this back up.

They won't get that franchise QB.

Wow...

Well they’re beating the Jets so get ready for 5-12 and pick number 7. **** all this.

Doesn't matter! You play to win the game! So what that this win means absolutely nothing! Players play football! Football is a sport! Ketchup is a condiment!! Idiot!!
You realize it matters right?

They don't have a starting QB.

They can still get Jayden Daniels
