He wasn’t calling to have him fix the offense, he was calling as a friend who needed a pep talk.

I actually read the article from Howe today where he supposedly said this, and the point of the article was not about Bill leaving, but rather about whether Bill having the team looking good and winning a couple more games to end the season would have him retain his job instead. So this Savage tweet is actually misleading to a degree. Howe is very plugged in and it seems his take is "it seems more likely that Bill leaves than stays right now, but if the team continues on the trajectory of the Pittsburgh game to close the year out against critical AFC foes in the Chiefs, Bills, Broncos and Jets, that could flip."
