Tom Curran: Sources made 'clear to me' decision to move on from Belichick made after Germany game

Bill isn’t going anywhere. Kraft isn’t going to pay two coaches. The only way Bill leaves is if another team wants him in a trade.
I keep hearing Mr. Kraft could trade BB. However, I haven't heard if BB possibly has a no trade clause in his contract.

Who was Curran “having conversations with”? Not sure I buy it. Curran hasn’t had good sources in quite a while.
The local media including curran get very pissed when any news about the patriots leaks via national reporters. like he says in the video "as reported by nfl or espn" . He claims he confirmed it wasnt a multi yr extension as was suggested. But why didnt you break it first.
They seem to get no direct news first and get annoyed when nationally it breaks first.

BB also has to agree to a place he wants to coach. And that team giving up a high draft pick which he could use himself.

Honestly it's one of the other for me. Just go full tilt either way. So much of this **** was predicted on player safety, which they've proven time and time again they don't actually care about. The mere existence of the NFL and tackle football is antithetical to safety lmao.

If it's all about safety, then go full tilt flag and let that develop into whatever it will. If you want to keep the brutality, then ease up and stop giving this ******** excuse of safety. The NFL, in the end, just wants have both, and the results are stupid.

Agreed. One solution might be teams emphasizing bigger, more durable quarterbacks (a la Josh Allen) and prioritizing capable backups. Some of the halfway measures appear to be working, such as mitigating concussions, etc. But I am no fan of most rules changes over the last 20 years throwing the game off balance. Taking away kickoff returns tops the list.

He brings defensive acumen. Great but that's not what the team needs now.

He might be "his own man" but he's only learned coaching from one guy. The guy that's presumably going to be fired in a month. More than likely he'll use what he learned from BB which is a system that, again, hasn't worked post-Brady.
A lot of the brady dicussion is also recentin the last 10 yrs. A lot of the current brady version was built over 20 yrs which also BB was a part of. It wasnt like - draft brady in 6th round, insert brady and dominate for 20 yrs. There were a lot of coaches and players added and removed by BB. The last few yrs apart from brady, there have been huge coaching departures all together and BB has failed bringing up coaches in the ranks like he did before.

Preach … I blame Rodman for running the NBA… I blame the NBA for ruining the NFL.
I am gonna have to disagree with the Rodmnan ruining the NBA comment. The way he played the game is why I used to love NBA basketball. He was the most skilled rebounder I have ever seen. I could have lived without the antics, but his style of play was a joy to watch despite hating the teams he played for.

It's just time. All good things end eventually. He can't be here forever.

If he really wants that record maybe he'll get it elsewhere. I still think he will retire and then the Patriots can honor him at some point like they did for the GOAT.
It maybe true. But its hard to win in this league. Teams even with start QBs havent won much. Replacing coaches with #1/2 pick doesnt always work. Look at the bears and panthers or even the colts. Need to know who is better out there right now for replacement unless its mayo already decided.

Regardless of what happens, i havent seen the local media dancing on the grave so much for the departure of the most celebrated coach they have had. There is curran, there is giardi who says "why are they waiting till end of season" and says its BB is like jeff fisher. Bedard is is his own clown ..

In fairness to them, they're all battling to stay afloat in a world where insightful X's and O's articles don't garner the same attention, and pageviews, and such are becoming more and more difficult to come by.

Without people reading, nobody can survive. So it's a fine line they're all trying to walk where opinion pieces outperform intelligent posts significantly. I can speak for that here based on the data I've seen. Just a bad time all around and they're all trying to keep their collective heads above water.

The only exception is Reiss, but he's also under the umbrella of the World Wide leader so he's safer than most in that regard. That and he's since started holding significant bits of information for his Sunday column, which also now makes it a must-read.

no, i get it......but they made their own bed......the pendulum didn't swing on them collectively, collectively this is where they swung the pendulum to

there are plenty of folks still making a living doing actual sports journalism, actual journalism in general.........but you have to to be good these days to rise above the see of ******** artists.......pat mcafee sells ads, even if he's an idiot.....

but chasing the quick buck from the lowest common denominator has pushed the industry to where it is......granted, the NFL as a whole has pushed their product into a sea of mediocrity by chasing the entertainment dollar vs maintaining the integrity of the game, so it stands to reason that the industry that writes about it would do the same

****ing kids on my lawn, man

The interested team will want to have a conversation with Bill prior to any trade.

He was a bad ass defender and amazing rebounder. I loved it when he joined my Lakers in 1999 and was an instant fan favorite.

Bill of course absolutely will be honored. He has nothing left to prove. The debate ended March 12th 2020. We know how that went. Kraft even said he'd never want his players to go after individual accolades it all about team success. So that there pretty says to me Bill will likely get the record elsewhere if he so chooses.

I'm all for embracing Mayo as the next guy. It would not suprise me one bit to see Mickey D back as his OC...

Kraft is getting publicly embarrassed in the media now. People like Mcaffee are catching him off guard and it becoming a story, the big Germany game that was supposed to start the Patriots push in that market turned into a total dud that could be damaging longterm, and fans not showing up to recent games is becoming a topic.

Bill isn't going to let a trade happen. But Kraft see's the writing on the wall. Having to pay two coaches isn't going to hold back a modern NFL owner back anymore. Davis isn't as rich as Kraft and is paying Josh and Gruden a fortune to not coach.

Yup. Brady didn't get to get the TD or yards record as a Patriot (though he got the yard record in the stadium), so there's really not much merit in keeping someone to break a record. Especially when that record will take years. It's not like he's getting it in the next two years.

I am not believing Curran ever again. That said I hope BB and Kraft have a gentlemans agreement that he will relinquish his duties and just Coach. Let somebody else shop for the groceries. I don't think BB at his age wants to go a new organization leaving one he himself built.
The assumption is that he has to build in a new org. If he went to the Chargers, he has less building to do than he has here now. Same if McDermott gets fired and goes to the Bills. And I think he would jump at having carte blanche if Daboll gets ****canned and he can go back to his beloved Giants. He'd probably love the idea of going back "home", getting the record there, and then getting to do a rebuild to potentially be competitive and send them off on a high note.

Absolutely correct, and Brady broke the TD record in a season with moss as well in 07. But yes at this rate 3 wins.. 2 years ago had 10 wins.. just another thought on just if we could have been in content with so much Flux in the AFC would of been a great year to sneak in the playoffs. But Curran is pretty dialed in.. I believe he and riess the most when they report.

I would guess Mayo see the offense needs a lot of help and would do something about it. H's not a dumb guy, he seems to be very intelligent.
We don't even know if Mayo would be trusted to be the GM to begin with. He's still extremely inexperienced to get that much control if he does indeed become HC.

I am not advocating for Mayo but with no big name coaches on the horizon and knowing Kraft and his emphasis on loyalty, i think that is the direction we are headed for.

Good news is maybe they could bring Ziegler or Riddick or “fill in the blank with your favorite GM candidate” in as a competent GM
This is all the more reason to just fire Bill now. Bill gets to go start talking to other teams. Kraft can kick the tires on Mayo and see if it's even remotely a good idea to give him a free path to HC.

To me it would be malpractice to not have an open interview process with everyone on the same playing ground.

I keep hearing Mr. Kraft could trade BB. However, I haven't heard if BB possibly has a no trade clause in his contract.
It doesn't even matter if he does. Bill is a coach and has no incentive to get traded if he's going to continue coaching. He can just tell any team "I will not coach your team if you trade for me, and I'll happily wait out my contract and Kraft can decide if he wants to fire me or let me go find whoever I want

I guess that explains why you just voted to keep Belichick on as GM and coach.
Numbnuts

IF you had a brain.
