Tom Curran: Sources made 'clear to me' decision to move on from Belichick made after Germany game

Said it years ago; This league blows. When TB and BB are gone so am I.
We've been halfway there for a while now and it's been a struggle. Watching games with music on because the broadcasts are a constant torrent of nonsense. Every other commercial is for a drug with incels dressed up as hipsters riding different colored inner tubes.
Players acting like the Rockettes after every play.
Players groping each other for twenty yards down field before the ref renders his purchased judgement of the foray.
No hitting in the off-season, practice, pre- season, regular season and playoffs.
Every support campaign aimed at anything but straight men.
Charging the military for "Troop Support."
Inviting gambling into bed.
Most importantly; the transition from sport to entertainment.
It sucks.

I'm suddenly depressed.

Actually, I often have similar thoughts. But then I recall recent seasons when those laments recede come playoff time and vestiges of the "old-school" game we know and love, return. With more at stake things get more serious, intensity ramps up and officiating becomes more lenient. I wouldn't throw in the towel just yet. It's still football; at least, until they put flags or two-hand touch sensors on the quarterback.

Currans got his sources which have always been closer to Brady, other players, and the Krafts. Belichick has his own media guys which typically is Shefter and a few others.

Preach … I blame Rodman for running the NBA… I blame the NBA for ruining the NFL.

Jonathan Kraft is going to look back on this as, "Man, we screwed up badly and I have no clue what I'm doing!"

Don't fool yourself, Jonathan Kraft is a bright dude. And definitely more brash than his old man.

If this is true then who does Kraft have his eye on?
He wouldn’t make that move unless he felt he could get his guy.
I hope it’s not Mayo.
Ya know, we have a tendency in society to think people at the top have it all figured out when in reality they don’t know **** and make really good educated decisions. If true, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kraft has his team whispering some candidates in his ear or maybe have a short list of guys he’d prefer but has no clue if he’d be able to get him or not. Thing is, money talks and he cannot be at all happy with the empty seats and the prices some of these second hand tickets are going for. Not to mention lost primetime games, dramatically reduced tv exposure, I’m sure due to the lack of star power he’s taken a huge hit to merchandise sales as well. He might not know who his guy is going to be, but perhaps he knows who it ain’t.

Bill isn’t going anywhere. Kraft isn’t going to pay two coaches. The only way Bill leaves is if another team wants him in a trade.
You know, I never really considered this part of it. You might be right, especially if Belichick really did sign an extension.

There have been a lot of bright people who owned teams but had no football knowledge or background.

Hiring coaches is like playing Russian Roulette in reverse: 5 bullets in, one empty.

Kraft has a lot of exposure here. I distinctly remember Belichick defending his free agent buys by point out that the team was 27th in the league in spending. This didn't sit well with Kraft, I'm guessing. We may get to see exactly who it is that doesn't like buying big ticket items in the FA market.

Well when Bill first got here receivers signed were David Patten, Charles Johnson, Torrance Small, we got Roman Phifer to play for peanuts, cut and replaced Ben the Great Coates, with Rod Rutledge and Jermaine Wiggins.

Only difference will be Mayo won't shop for the groceries. The fruit from Bill's tree has all been rotten unfortunately.

Football has been a big part of my life since I was 7 years old. There are more than a few instances that trigger nostalgia and good feelings but they are more from college/hs ball than televised NFL.

Kraft choosing Bill over Brady will go down as an unmitigated disaster.

Brady goes out and wins a Superbowl and makes the playoffs every year in Tampa.

Meanwhile the team with Bill gets worse every year and bottoms out as a bottom 5 team
