Giardi wants to 'test drive' Jerod Mayo:

I agree with this. If you are 100% moving on, the correct thing is to see what Mayo is like in action so you can decide if he's something you would even consider before just having this coaching search with this supposed succession plan factoring into the math.

I think you have to go WIlliams or Maye if one of them is there. And Harrison should be the consolation prize if not and then you look at a second round QB. Maybe you even trade up from 32 to get in the 20's and snag someone.

Bill talking up Tomlin and the Steelers:
"Ton of respect for him and the Steeler program. Very consistent thru the years. They are good every year sometimes great. They're right there again this year. Solid team, don't make mistakes not heavily penalized, don't turn over a lot, can takeaway the ball, good fundamentals. Have to play a good game to beat them. Seldom make bad plays and mistakes that cost team the game. Kicker is a weapon, with a guy like that you can win most close games. That's a sign of a team that's well balanced and can make plays they need to make."

Sounds like he's being wistful about his own team just as much as talking up the Steelers...

Bill on Malik Cunningham or rookies getting a chance off the PS - what type of mastery of the system do they have to be in so you'll be comfortable that he'll execute his job and limit mistakes?
"Every player falls in same category. They know what to do, they are dependable, they don't put any of our team at risk. If that ability is shown on the practice field then they will get a chance in a game to show it. The same is true for everyone. You earn your opportunities when you get them. The more successful you are, the more is coming your way. And vice versa"

Riley Reiff won't be returning this year. I don't know how much he had left...

He had Nothing Whatsoever left.

...but you can't help but wonder how much better the OL could have been with him at RT and Onwenu back to RG. At least Sow is getting reps.

The offensive Line would've been Worse with Reiffer on it.

I like this mindset.... or in other words "We might be out of the playoffs but we can still screw the Steelers, Broncos and especially the Bills in regards to playoff chances/positioning, knock the Chiefs down a peg, and also continue the embarrassingly long Jets losing streak to us"

Looks like Pop and Boutte are both officially declared OUT if it hasn't already been mentioned.

Boutte.

I'm not against drafting MHJ but I'm definitely against bringing back Mac. Trade him for a 5th or 6th, go back into the first round by giving up next year's #1 if that means you can draft LSU's Daniels, and sign Kevin Cousins for 2 yrs and $30m.
I have been thinking the same. Not a draft guru but Williams and Maye are not a sure thing. They both have warts
MHJ seems like a once every 10 years protege at his position.
Picking possibly in the Top 3 means we cannot miss here.
Problem is I do not want Mac and I think Daniels fly's up draft boards after combine and might be long gone before we try and move back up.
I Truthfully like Daniels over Williams and Maye. This Is only from gut. I’m no film junky. Williams seems like a diva. Maye has all the intangibles. But does not blow me away. Daniels has good leadership and strong arm and running ability. Just too thin. Maybe a Pro training program can help that.
We need a QB this Draft. Trade down a few spots to gather picks. Choose Daniels and then move up a little for a WR/OT. Then with extra picks and our picks load up on Offense. Especially OLine
