Trade deadline thread

I don't want Purdy. We have seen enough of the 49ers to assume Purdy is a product of the 49ers offense more than him being a great QB. Especially after the last three weeks, I don't know if I would want him.
Again, Jimmy performed at a worse level in the exact same system and exact same weapons.

Guy was missing his starting LT the last few weeks and his defense hasn't been able to stop a nosebleed lately, that's enough to throw most starting QB's off outside of a rare few. Even after his bad few games, he's still putting up pretty identical numbers to Jared Goff.

I think people still get extremely hung up on where he plays and where he was drafted. Obviously his system has over inflated just how good his numbers are, but it's unfair to go the other way and say they're meaningless.

If the 49ers were willing to trade him due to being able to land a premium QB, you better believe he would be worth a look at his cap hit. People pay $20-25 million for similar performing QB's.

if youre going to spend in free agency, you arent going to get comp picks. my guess is they plan to spend so i think your statement is not exactly an accurate statement.
I was talking about Washington, the 49ers pick will be late 3rd round, the comp pick will be only a few picks later in the 3rd round, only a year later.

They won't get any comp picks next year with the amount of money they have to spend on free agency.
The comp picks for next year have already pretty much set, they are awarded a year behind, so the Pats are getting no comp picks next year because JuJu's signing cancels losing Jacobi and then Reiff and Gieseke. The Pats signed more players than they lost, so they won't get any comp picks.

This off season is another story the Pats currently have around 20 pending free agents, so by the shear numbers they will most likely end up with some late round comp picks, a 3rd if someone hires Mayo. But you are limited to the number of comp picks you can get (4) so if BB can get something for one of these players whose contract is set to expire, he should.

Why the hell would we trade for Young? We wouldn't pay him anyways so why waste the pick?
Sure, waste a 2nd, and have someone else sign him after season is over.
Would have only been a third rounder and pats have cap space to resign next year.
Why should pats want to acquire elite talent?
Better to sit and do nothing just like Chaim Bloom

I thought Jemeson Williams was drafted to be Lions' WR1. After his injury and then suspension he shows absolutely nothing.
Well, Amon-Ra St.Brown had something to say about being WR1. Williams should be #2, but he's behind Reynolds and Raymond currently, because of the time he missed. It remains to be seen if he can break out of the Curse that Detroit has had when drafting WR named Williams and be productive.

Bill should learn from the Commanders approach.
They will have Caleb or Drake as their qb1 next year and in better shape for future than Pats

How do you know that the Commanders didn't ask for MORE than a 2nd when they talked to the Pats? This is a perfect example of the arrogant Boston fan putting all the blame on BB when you don't even have half the story. You're reacting for blurbs that are barely considered snippets of information Yet you MAGICALLY know what the discussion was like between BB, Wolf, Groh and the Commanders GM. Hell, for all we know, Sweat told them that he didn't want to play in New England so they went looking for another team to trade him to.

As mentioned, it takes TWO to make a trade,

Uche being packaged for Young?

He’s the closest thing to Seymour this team has had.
But this isn’t the time to add guys lol.
Unless you are making him a part of the rebuild.
That needs to be a consideration, whether buying or selling.

Pats should be buyers where they can acquire assets that help the rebuild.
They should be sellers if, and only if, they are selling players that will not be part of the rebuild.

so that probably boils down to doing no trades.

So, you would give up a 3rd to have the same chance as everyone else to sign Young in the offseason. Or perhaps you will want to pay him $20M for next year's play as franchisee.

Of course, we should acquire talent, if we could trade for a player that will be part of our future.
