Belichick signed to long term contract

While handling offense after Brady went from absurd to ridiculous i prefer to enjoy Bills last years in NE before any great fans favourite saviours.

Every person who has ever built a roster has made choices that didn’t work out.
It’s a phony argument to expect that the best player is picked every draft choice, it has never been done, by anyone.
A decision maker is a judged on the totality of their decisions and no one has made more good ones, ever.

Belichick got the patriots in this situation by effectively extending the dynasty to go to 5 SBs in 4 years and wining 3 of them.
You apparently would rather have taken an approach like, say the Packers who were in a similar situation in 2012-2015-ish and win NOTHING but are now mediocre or Denver who won nothing and are in the same boat now.

I prefer to have won, and accepted after it was over there would be down times and I don’t need to find a target to blame because reality happened.

Name one Pro Bowler that Belichick has drafted and not an alternative replacement. Name the last Belichick draft pick to get a second contract that wasn’t a punter. When was the last time the special teams were any good even though Belichick puts more emphasis on it? When was the last time this team was disciplined and virtually mistake free?

Belichick is the greatest head coach, but he has lost his fast ball. He seems more interested in taking care of his people than putting the best people in key positions.

And let’s face it. Since Ernie Adams retired, his in game decisions have gotten significantly worse.

And Belichick seems to rather have a team his way and be an 8-10 win team perpetually rather than adapt to today’s NFL to build a winner. I would rather take a shot with someone else and fail than stay with Belichick and have a ceiling as a middle of the pack team that can win a playoff game.

This is not something that i'd thought about, as BBs contract is never discussed... At least openly...

I wish there were details about the deal included... What's long term? What lucrative in terms of dollars? It's been guessed that he makes 20-25m a season as the hc/gm...

Player contracts usually leak out - Florio usually gets a hold of them, breaks them down, so we know what is earnest money, what is the term (vs void years), the guaranteed money etc...

Would like to know these things about this "new" deal... It's got to come directly from Robert/Jonathan, no? Who else would have that power in the organization...

You are so ****ing queer for Billy it's ****ing embarrassing. ****ing clueless, brain-dead hero-worshipper.

Your emotional, thoughtless perspective is showing again.

But just so we are clear, while you seem to associate your sexual attraction with men and believe in hero worship, I am a football fan, who roots for the New England Patriots and my only interest is them winning SBs. I care not about assigning credit or blame, I care about results. The results Bill Belichick have delivered are the best anyone ever has, so I both appreciate it and want more of it.
I could not care less about any member of the team personally, to me the exist for what they can do for this team, so I do not need to get angry find a target, call names, give out silly insulting nicknames, call the team I root for a disparaging nicknames, or set out to prove I can be the biggest complainer in the would about something I have no control over. Finally, no I have no queer feelings toward anyone. So we are different in just about every way I suppose.

If this holds Kraft back from moving on, then he's condemning this team to mediocrity for the length of this contract.

Bob needs to find an outlet to release his pent up stress because clearly he can’t handle this. Any ideas?

It‘s funny. There at least a few people on this oars who said the Pats had to whatever it takes to get any of the five QBs in that draft because, the way first round QBs had been performing in the last few drafts, all five are going to great or even studs. People locally and nationally compared that draft to 1983. So far you got a low top ten QB at best and the other four have done nothing except for Jones his rookie season.

Some of them could turn into good QBs in new situations, but none of them other than Lawrence are going to succeed in their current ones.
Some posters here were furious the Bears moved ahead of the Pats for Justin Fields.

Fields sucks royally…

You miss, you pick again. You have to break some eggs to make an omelette.

Name someone who has done a better job. We can sit here all day and criticize any decision maker in the NFL, hell in almost any line of work.
The idea that you think the bar is no mistakes is ludicrous.
Tell me who has been better.

Yes we do.

I am one of them.

Got a problem with that, take it up with someone who cares. They are easily spotted. Basically parrot everything felger and Maz spew out on a daily basis.
People are outing themselves all over this thread. It's comical.

People who vicariously benefited in the dynasty and used it to feel better about themselves, are emotionally incapable of dealing with a down period so they must find blame, lash out, and attack a target.

Great I get to watch Bill not get receivers, have a ****ty line, and screw up another QB. Fun stuff. Best part is I'll have to listen to people who know absolutely nothing about football and have been wrong every step of the way explain why the results aren't his fault

Maybe (and that's a big fat maybe) some other team will take on the contract with the Krafts perhaps paying a portion for some time. I doubt a team would take on the whole thing if it is as "lucrative" as it is asserted to be. I doubt we;d get lucky enough to get somebody to take on the whole thing, but then I always find it hard to think like a billionaire.

This could very well be the most uninformed, ignorant statement made in the history of this board.

How much should a team trade for a coach that hasn't won a playoff game in 5 years, has built one of the ****tiest rosters in the league, has seemingly lost his ability to get his players to play disciplined football, and is going to be highly resistant to give up his GM duties?

Kradt will get mediocre offers for Bill and consider it an insult and be stuck with him because he won't want to pay Bill to go take a hike

I'm actually going to be the voice of reason here, even though I have every reason not to be.

For those who are saying, "Any other coach would've been fired..." : this isn't any other coach. He's the greatest coach in NFL history. The whole league knows that including the fans outside of Boston talk radio.

Secondly, those thinking Mayo was duped aren't taking into account that this contract includes provisions for the transition. Why did Mayo stay? Not because he thought Belichick was going to be fired and that he was going to take over!! But because there are plans for a transition.

Third, every single coach in the NFL is extended beyond his last year. Eating huge coaching contracts is how it's done. This is business as usual. If Kraft wants to fire Belichick, he can still do it. It would be a dumb decision, but there's nothing stopping him.

Fourth, the reason you extend coaches in their last year is because you want your players to know who will be responsible for their careers moving forward, not to mention FAs.
