Belichick signed to long term contract

We just have to beat the Bills to cool things down.
I don't think that alone would much affect my concerns over Bill's present competence.

This could very well be the most uninformed, ignorant statement made in the history of this board.

LOL! Coming from the guy who refuses to see that Belichick has built one of the worst and undisciplined teams in the NFL and think he is the only one who can turn this team into a contender.

People are outing themselves all over this thread. It's comical.
Let me take this opportunity to out myself as a dork. I know this comes as a shock.

This leaked to stop people from having the idea that Bill is going anywhere.

They NEVER leak **** about his contract.

I don't want him gone but I do want someone else picking the players and if they don't compromise that part of the equation then we're ****ed.

Bill came out of last seasons misery and proceeded to have the off-season he had this year. He doesn't get it. Maybe he never did.
I think it was leaked from Bill's side to say "I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to keep doing my job."

Kraft certainly can still fire him but it would be a huge financial hit. He could try to trade his rights, but if Bill doesn't want to leave, it becomes difficult.

I think the most likely outcome is that Belichick does 2 more years, but that we might see more active involvement from folks like Mayo soon and that Bill may start making radical changes to the roster.

Goddamn we really need to have a good showing against the Bills today LOL

Why? I'm not being trollish. How would a win help us, going forward? It's sort of an ugly question, but a relevant one, I think.

Absolutely awful, the signs are there for a few years now it's not just the roster building, this team doesn't have the football smarts anymore, situational football, they are badly trained, stupid fouls, players out of position.

Man it's time.

Wow. 10 more years??!!

Bill forces out the sole reason for his success. He then hoodwinks the owner into extending him. Finally, he leaks it to the press at the most opportune moment.

Just doing what's best for the team.

I’m fine with Bill staying if they bring in a gm that can make personnel decisions.

Every person who has ever built a roster has made choices that didn’t work out.
It’s a phony argument to expect that the best player is picked every draft choice, it has never been done, by anyone.
A decision maker is a judged on the totality of their decisions and no one has made more good ones, ever.

Belichick got the patriots in this situation by effectively extending the dynasty to go to 5 SBs in 4 years and wining 3 of them.
You apparently would rather have taken an approach like, say the Packers who were in a similar situation in 2012-2015-ish and win NOTHING but are now mediocre or Denver who won nothing and are in the same boat now.

I prefer to have won, and accepted after it was over there would be down times and I don’t need to find a target to blame because reality happened.
The “down” times are because of ****ty drafts and ****ty FA acquisitions that were made because of the ****ty drafts as well as ****ty decisions like Patricia and Judge running a ****ty O.

Perhaps those of us who want to see winning football return to New England can start a Go Fund Me to payoff the rest of his contract.

Since Brady left? You can name what about a dozen teams or more who have done better. San Fran clearly does a better job even with the Lance debacle. Philly has done it better. Miami has done it better. And those are the teams without a top QB.

Hurts and Tua are top QBs.

It is clear Belichick or his people leaked it. No way the Krafts would leak this.
Drafting a new QB and rebuilding on the fly is very difficult, if not impossible in the NFL. As fans we are reacting to the extreme ugliness of the losses this year and the struggles of their most visible player. The Kraft's benefit by ending all of the pressure to fire BB in the short term. While not the popular opinion here they also benefit by getting the message out that Bill is here for the long haul during the rebuild.

I can't believe it...

Hopefully, the extension is in line with where Bill is in 2023 as a HC/GM. Lower half of the league.
