Former New England Patriots Quarterback Steve Grogan Reviews the Week 12 match-up: New England at Baltimore

Re: Grogan\'s Grade: Week 12

Grogan's perspective is always interesting.

But RR Marshall asked this question...I don't think it matters what Tagliabue has to say.

RRM: Did you see Baltimore linebacker Bart Scott throw the penalty flag into the stands? I wonder what Paul Tagliabue will have to say to him about that?

The offense was far from perfect with some key penalties and some dropped passes. On a night when the wind is blowing like it was and its cold they needed a running game and they really didn’t find one, so I think that has to be a little bit of a concern.

Wow looks like Grogan also noticed that the Pats weren't getting the job done with the running game! I'm glad that at least one other person was not too blinded by homerism to notice that they did not get the JOB DONE with the running game. Hmmmmmmm. We know who they are, but I won't name names, and just let you guys think it over.

Now, I agree with Grogan as well, as long as you define a successful running game as requiring the whole offense to be in sync during a running play. That's execution by the OL, QB, RBs, WR, and TEs in carrying out their assignments. To imply it's a problem with any one position is not realistic. Homerism, no. Reality, yes.

BTW, the Tagliabue reference is priceless. At least he didn't say Rozelle.

to cry about the pats not running the ball on baltimore is knuckleheaded --- list me the teams that have a lot of success doing that.

I'll cut R.R. some slack...he was working off of shorthand late Tuesday night and basically transcribed the wrong name from his question to Steve. I should have caught it when I was reformatting it but missed it.
