Yea this is the play I was talking about in another thread

Announcers are so careful these days not to call guys out too much, but even they were like what is that

Or the sneak where Mac just decided to take a nap instead of grinding for the first down

He's so afraid, so soft. High school QBs could do better than he did yesterday

Welcome to Mac Jones Fan Club.....

Population 1
I feel bad for the kid. He was put into a tough situation and isn't handling it well. He also doesn't seem to be quite good enough, which spells trouble for the Pats future.

Gonzalez and Judson were in the first 2 drives when Dallas went over 70 yards each drive for a score. If you look back to last year in all our losses against decent teams we are down big early and having to try and claw back. That’s not to say it’s the D’s fault, but with this O you can’t get down early. The D wasn’t good yesterday, it just wasn’t as bad as the O.

I see what you're saying, but going into Dallas I simply wasn't expecting much even with Judon and Gonzalez not yet injured. Again, their secondary was drained of Jon, Marcus, and Jack Jones. Maybe I'm just being pedantic, and I think we agree on the overall premise. It had to be a generationally, absolutely stellar defense to make up for the ****show on offense, and that's doomed from the jump. We got by against the Jets because, well, it's the Jets. That entirely injured DB core was bound to rear its head at some point.

Just sucks. I feel hard for Gonzalez. He needs all the reps he can get to secure the contract he deserves. Judon's absence hurts the soul of fans and team, but at least the guy has been paid.

Bill the Coach doesn't care about offense, he can't draft offense, he can't evaluate offense. How do I know this? In nine full seasons without Brady (91-95 Cleveland, 2000 Pats, and 20-22 Pats) Bill the Coach has had an offense rank in the top 10 in points per game only ONCE (#6 in Mac Jones' rookie season). He had five seasons in Cleveland and had had four seasons with the Pats. Bill the Coach's offensive rankings are downright putrid without the quarterback that **** Rehbein found:

91 - 16/28 teams (18.6 ppg)
92 - 20, 17.2
93 - 15, 19.0
94 - 11, 21.3
95 - 25, 18.1
00 - 25/31, 17.3
20 - 27/32, 20.4
21 - 6/32, 27.2
22 - 17, 20.4

and this season Bill the Coach ranks 31/32 at 13.8 ppg

So the average offensive team for Bill the Coach ranks 18th in the league in offense. Is this what people want moving forward in a league that caters to offense?

Damn, looks like the team can’t give up more than 14 points a game because this team can’t score and finish drives. Very telling.

An offensive coach ain’t going to fix this dumpster fire. BB the GM has been crippling this team with poor draft picks on the offensive side of the ball. Whoever takes over this team will have a long road ahead to fix things through the draft. We will have a painful few years if Kraft doesn’t get rid of BB by the end of this year.

Yeah, just like he ruined that one guy ... what was his name? Tom-something?

What an asinine theory, that BB ruins QBs.

The much more likely and obvious answer is that Mac Jones is a bad quarterback. End of discussion.
The Pats actually had an OC here who threatened to end a player's career. I'm not saying that Bill is doing that, but it's clearly possible for any coach.

It's over.

The whole operation is going nowhere and needs blown up, Mac Jones will never be a legitimate NFL quarterback and anyone who still believes in him are just too stubborn to admit they were wrong.
I wasn't being stubborn about being wrong. I was hoping that Mac was going to be right. He isn't.
Without a decent QB or weapons on offense this team is in a bad place.

So, did Saban know this kid was a ****y but not tell Bill? He should have known and should have told Bill.
Saban had a nickname for him and his temper in college. I’m sure they discussed it.

Pop tried to teach the man how to Dougie, 6 just couldn't keep up.

I fail to understand why he isn't on the field at all times. 15 out of 55 snaps. JuJu had 26, for reference. If Douglas has a weakness, get creative on how to coach him out of it, or scheme him differently.

This loss was tough for me to stomach. I can’t stand the Cowboys. Upon rewatch, and seeing Mac stare down his reads, it’s not any better. Dallas just outclassed us with speed on the defensive side of the ball. The team speed badly needs to be addressed.

Lowest point in the BB era AFTER Brady. Belichick’s time has come and gone and he should be thankful to have inherited Tom Brady…..now he has been exposed as the slightly above average coach that he is. Time to move on
Bill's way better than a slightly above average HC. He makes less mistakes in a season than some coaches make in one game. But it's his GM decisions that have held the team back lately and we can't have one without the other.

Sad thing is, they said specifically they've been targeting speed... Of course, the highlights there are Thornton (perpetually injured) and Strong (traded after a year).

It was a bad effort all around. The Pats were badly outcoached too.

Well, he really does come across as soft. And he seems to be regressing, which kind of tells me that defenses are catching up to his weaknesses, as opposed to him improving his game.

It's odd how much less confident I am after just one loss, but it was a doozy.

Yeah, but that’s akin to an elderly person saying they are specifically trying to eat right and exercise to extend their lives. In other words? They should be targeting speed. They’ve been fielding one of the slower offenses in the NFL since the latter part of the 2019 campaign. If you’re targeting speed then what the hell are you doing about it? Why is Juju still getting more snaps than Pop?

I wasn’t going to be too hard on Mac through most of the game yesterday. Every QB has games where they stare their guys down and good defenses make them pay for it. We see it weekly. Then, I saw him smiling on the sideline after getting chewed out and pulled. What the **** is there to smile about? It’s funny that we’re losing by 35 and you’re getting pulled for Zappe? I remember Brady getting pulled against the Saints in 2009 and the Chargers in 2005. He wasn’t laughing. He looked like he wanted to kill someone.

That play had me up off my chair, yelling and laughing so hard that I woke up the wife on the couch. It's those type of plays that represent the best part of the game and it's enjoyable to see that kind of athlete on athlete crime when your team isn't the victim.
