Dynasty Era Culture & Media schtick the one area I think Belichick firing would win.

The O-line is the problem. Even Brady would look like sh!t behind these guys.

(Yes, Mac had a horrendous game. I'm not saying he didn't but it starts up front)
O line is a major part of problem BUT the entire offense is fundamentally flawed. Mac’s issues go beyond one game. He is not mentally tough and will not successfully lead a team facing pressure.

Statistically, that's not true. Did he have a bad game? Yup. Is he the worst QB in the league? No way.

I'm sorry he's not Brady
Imagine watching this **** show and being all "sorry he's not Brady". Yeah, there are no gradations of performance between Mac Jones and Tom Brady, he's just an amazing player who falls short of being Brady. Christ almighty. Can he be Ryan Tannehill? Can he be Alex Smith?? Those are the questions. NO ONE IS JUDGING HIM BY THE STANDARD OF BRADY.

Yes they are.

Do you think he'd be getting praise for his Week 1-3 performance if people were expecting him to be Brady? All of those games were obviously below Brady standard. And people were still encouraged, posting his "on pace" stats and all that jazz. This is so disingenuous.
Brady was the QB here for a generation. Who else are they going to compare Mac to? Cam? Bledsoe?

The "low energy" came from the club falling behind due to the turnovers. They drove down the field and answered Dallas' field goal and tied things up at 3-3. It's not like it was terrible. Then, the defense adjusted and played well, but the offense fell off a cliff after Jones' two turnovers put them behind again against a pretty good Dallas offense. That put them in a hole that the defense spent the rest of the afternoon trying to give them a chance to get back in it. That obviously never happened.

To your point, Belichick will be fired when it's clear he's lost the locker room or games like this become more of the norm. I don't think we're there yet.

Not saying I'm not concerned we won't see that, especially if their two best defenders are gone and they fall apart, but I don't think energy/effort was the issue today. They ended up down 28-3 not due to their own (the defense's) volition, but because of two really disastrous decisions by Jones. Hard to be happy and upbeat about that.

Either way, I don't think Belichick's the problem from this standpoint. Although, as I said earlier, I do feel like after watching Miami and Buffalo today, that the fact there's not one truly explosive player with a quarterback on a rookie deal is incredibly frustrating.

I didn’t see this game because I was out golfing an intended to watch it when I got home, however when I stopped at a store on the way home I heard someone say that Jones had just thrown a pick 6 and it was 28-3, so I bagged it altogether and found the ther things to do. It sounds like Jones played like **** and the offense couldn’t carry their weight so the defense buckled and they got their doors blown off. At this point it’s clear that they simply can’t compete against the better teams, so they are going to lose a ton of games, as their schedule is brutal. I doubt they will pick up Jones 5th year option, and a QB in the first roundI is a strong likelihood. I wouldn’t fire Belichick, but the pressure from fans on Kraft is going to be huge to do just that. It will be interesting to see what happens, and the decisions that are made this coming offseason. The only one I would really have a problem with would be replacing Belichick with Bill O’Brien, although being a fan of the Draft it would be fun to watch them pick in the top 3 every year.

They lost their two best players on defense in one afternoon, that's not gonna help going forward.

They should put Belichick's head on a pike at the outskirts of town, just to let the next coach know what happens when you win six eff'n Lombardi trophies but can't keep it going beyond a historic 20 year run.

Ridiculous.

Kraft will look terrible if he fires a Hall of Fame coach midseason. If anything, maybe a catastrophe of a season could be an excuse to scale back (or outright remove) Bill's GM duties. Having a new GM could plant the seeds for a new era while also letting Bill chase the all time win record.
My solution would be simple, and if I were the Krafts I would lay out the options - in private - to Bill sooner rather than later so he has time to think it over. I'd do it this week. The basic offer is this: You may stay as HC if you give up the GM role entirely. You would be free, of course, to offer your perspective to the GM, and he or she would be a fool at least not to consider what you have to say, but the amount of weight the GM decides to put on your perspective is entirely up to the GM in consultation with his or her staff. I would hope an agreement might be possible, and I certainly assume the franchise would do everything it can to see to it that the change is accomplished with the greatest respect for Bill's contributions over time and that every effort would be made to save him embarrassment to the extent possible.

He is not doing it. For one or two or all three of these reasons:
1. Fear
2. Loyalty
3. Because he is a ****y

I would demand an answer. There is nothing to be negotiated: this is A or B. My only reason for caring about Bill's reasons for accepting the offer would be that that might offer some insight into what sort of employee he might be going forward. If the answer is no, I would want to move immediately on to how Bill would like the transition to be managed, whether he is transitioning to HC only, or to ex-employee. Bill's reasons for declining the offer would be his own, and I would have no interest in them, beyond their possible relvance to how the transition is to be handled. Bill is owed respect and consideration either way.

I understand, by the way, that this offer more likely than not will result in Bill's being removed from both positions. So it goes. It's a business. I would be happy to see him stay as HC.

New uniforms, new color schemes, new logos, new everything. With Bill and Bill’s rule this team is just a shadow. Go red for home-games and a bombastic red, white and blue for away. Put the Flying Elvis to rest. Get a QB that wants to stand at the post game podium dressed like a pimp. I don’t give AF.

This entire low-energy masquerade of team after team saying all and doing all the same stuff as the Brady-culture era only without Brady. For the true page-turn culture change, I’m on board with giving him one final year with a new QB.

I'm not sure tannehill or Alex Smith would excel behind this OL or with these receivers.

Honestly if you just traded or hit in the draft on an elite receiver and invested heavily in the OL for an offseason. Would do wonders for this offense.

The OL can't run or pass block. And the receivers can't get separation. It's a recipe for disaster. Teams had to gameplay. For Gronk and Edelman. That left guys like lafell and Hogan to rack of big seasons as 3rd and 4th options.

Now we are trying to win with lafell/Hogan as our #1 and #2 essentially

The problem is that Bill has in his mind that elite receivers don't matter and he can make it work with smoke and mirrors.

This is completely reasonable, but I think Belichick would probably opt for retirement. I don’t believe he’s trying for the wins record, and I do believe he was planning on retiring after 2024 anyways.

Once again, the standard isn't "excelling". Can he be the 16th-20th best QB in football consistently? Because with this defense that would win a lot of games. And he hasn't played up to that level since the Tennessee game his rookie year.

If the way he deals with the media bothers you, well that's on you... ewwww, he's so mean to the mediaaa... really? who gives a rats ass about that? its meaningless, and it should be the very last thing that comes up when discussing Belichick

he does need to re-prioritize the way he's building his rosters, given the state of the game

he does need to find a long term quarterback because Clueless ain't it...

One benefit i can see for keeping Belichick is it will piss off some people to no end... and i'm fine with that
I'd have to say that the folks who do give a rat's ass about Belichick's pressers are those people who are trying to make a living covering the team. And they do it for a fraction of what Bill makes. IMHO Bill's intelligent enough and been around long enough to figure out how to talk to the fans and media without giving anything away. He's so bad at it that I stopped watching and listening to him many years ago. As some fans here said a while back, and it's true, his act works well when the team's winning but it won't when they're losing. We're there now.

The folks I want to see pissed off are our opponents and I don't care who the HC is who does that. IMHO the perfect scenario would be for Bill to be the HC and for Kraft to hire a GM. And if that happens and Bill leaves, which is likely in that case, then we'll just have to find another HC. No matter how it all goes down it'll be interesting.

And we'll still have the greatest dynasty in NYFL history.

I kind of feel they did that by retiring the Brady-era jerseys and going with this terrible color rush uniform. When I look at those, I don't see anything left of the dynasty era.

I think this formula would win regular season games. I don’t it would win playoff games
