3.) Our D is SOLID. 25 points allowed. 7 of them via a pick six, 6 on a short field, and 3 on a 56 yard FG that could have been good from 67..... and that was a 100% healthy top 3 offense.

Most encouraging is when the game was on the line, the defense gave our offense 2 opportunities to win the game. And they made those plays against a top offense.

Put him behind Philly OL for a month and he'll be zipping. Its all about confidence. Or much of it.
At some point the "reasons" have to stop.
I do agree he needn't wait but put more effort regardless.
maybe should watch some more of Brady zipping it at his preferred porn time..

Yup. Brady was the master of zipping it in. Mac needs to add that to his game and I think he will grow from there. Scoring touchdowns when the team is down 16 points is easier than scoring points when down less than 7 points.

Here are some random thoughts:

- Today was definitely proof how bad the Patricia offense was last season. Start with the obvious one. Burying Bourne on the roster cost the Patriots games last year. He is the Pats' best WR, at least until Douglas develops. He was their best WR in 2021 too. Add to the fact that things were so much more productive today when Mac could call audibles at the line, there was motion in the backfield, and there was some creativity. And O'Brien actually knew he had TEs and that Henry is a real weapon.

- Mac showed signs today that he has the potential be a franchise QB. He does still has some significant red flags that need to be correct from inconsistency and his ability to throw to the right side of the field. But he has also showed he can pick apart a really good defense at times. He needs to work on the consistency. He may never become a franchise QB, but he did show some big flashes today.
Agree, some hot, some cold. The problem is a pro level starting QB is expected to deliver lots of hot and very little cold. Mac's comments suggest he knows it. This is a huge year for him. The team needs to decide important things this off season like an extension or a fifth year option. He needs to show by the end of this season that he's a viable QB1, and he's not there yet.

Miami has a better roster than the Eagles. Tua looked pretty great today vs the Chargers.
Receivers yes but the rest of the team no not really. Case in point the Eagles lines on both sides are much better than the Dolphins. I expect the Pats to have more success on the ground.

We match up way better with Miami imo

It was his first game in a new system with three starters out. So I will give him a few games to show some more consistency.

I think the Dolphins' defense may be significantly weaker than the Eagles. So we may be able to see if he can be more consistent next week. Plus, Parker, Strange, and Owenu could be back.

He is a viable starting QB at the NFL level but hasn’t yet shown his team can win because of him. QBs are leaders and top QBs need to show they can do that.

Was with you, right up to the last part.

The offense has peaked, there's no chance for anyone to learn from mistakes and get better, it's all over after Game 1?

Even with so many new players on the offense, many of them rookies?

They may get better, but you look at the personnel and whats the realistic ceiling for the offense… Just my opinion its not that high. Theyll be good enough to move the ball fairly well and flash here and there, but games like this against the top teams will be full of these gotta have it plays. Without a truly dynamic threat the same thing will happen.

I feel one of two things need to happen. We find the next edelman or gronk… or you need to build a dominant ol to allow rham to take games over and kill teams with pap. I dont think either are coming this year. And its not a complaint about our moves or lack of moves. We focused on d this year and thats fine, I mean we saw how good they are (so far). But in todays game you need more talent than what we have offensively… unless you have a mahomes at qb.

That makes no sense. If they tried the FG the rest of the game would have unfolded differently. They might have or they might have lost, but it certainly wouldn't have come down to the same 35-yd kick.
Kay but the point is you kick a field goal and then kickoff for a touch back and **** is largely the same as turning it over on downs

Philly's OL is way better than MIA. That Chargers defense is not very good.
And the Chargers are led by the worst Head Coach in the NFL

Not an excuse nor do I think it would have changed the outcome of the game, but consistently **** refereeing going against the Pats. That Henry holding call was awful. Just a continuation of last years BS

You can’t take it personal. Romo never beat the Pats. Many players and Coaches that played against the Pats don’t like them. In fact, Aikman and Romo enjoy watching the Cowboys lose.

I met someone from the Spanos family at a party and they made it clear they don’t like the Pats.

I get that but as a commentator you really shouldn’t be slanting public opinion based on your preference. It may not seem like much but having a mouthpiece like him subtly pushing certain narratives to fans who are already pretty anti ne isnt cool.

It's expected at this point. There's no sense even complaining about it in my opinion, because it's just how it's going to be now, and they'll have to overcome that.
