Bill is excited about Douglas Mac fully trusts Douglas I grabbed him as an after thought In my leagues but he could turn to a 6 to 10 catch a game guy.
6 to 10 catch a game guy? That's 100+ catches a year. This is the 99th percentile outcome for top 10 picks at receiver, nevermind a 6th rounder. People really need to get their expectations in check with these rookie receivers. The last time a Patriot had over 100 catches in a season was in 2013.

Seems like people already have him pegged for that Welker/Edelman role.

I mean, he could play that role and still be substantially less productive than Edelman and Welker, like Amendola and Meyers were. Not to mention, where is Juju playing if Douglas is in the slot? I don't think he can get open consistently on the outside, especially against man, and we have him for three years.

Oh I agree. I just think that's where people are pulling those numbers from.

Agreed. I'm optimistic about the kid, and he'll get his chances (Parker and JuJu are unlikely to play all 17 games each, so he'll have a shot to grab a role and never let go), but we don't want him being a high volume guy in year 1. He's undersized and a rookie (who often hit a late season wall). Let him ease into a role.

Not to mention, this offense is going to succeed (or fail) based on how well it spreads the ball around. I don't think any one guy is going to be the workhorse.

You're probably right, it's just that rookie receivers have historically been unproductive in this offense and people are approaching these kids with such crazy expectations that if Douglas ends the year with, say, 28 catches for 320 yards they'll be disappointed. Take any contributions from him in the passing game, especially early, as a nice bonus, don't put on him and Boutte the weight of being difference makers at receiver, that's unfair.

The Pats are going back to spreading the ball to the available receiver. I don't think any one guy is going to be putting up huge numbers.

Go look at the list of Chiefs patch catchers. It is remarkably sparse, they lost Hardman and Juju and replaced them with literally no one. If Kelce is hurt holy **** it’s gonna be some Brady throwing to Sam Aiken time in Kansas City.

They'll be okay their Oline is legit and they have a running game in Pacheco.

Jones is the more serious loss

Mahomes proved he doesn’t need Tyreek Hill. He does need someone. Everyone needs someone. Brady is the GOAT and he could only do so much in 2013 after Gronk went down for example.

Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, Marquez Valdez-Scantling, Noah Gray and Jerick McKinnon...Kansas City's pass catchers...If Kelce is down for any amount of time I bet Kansas City averages more points on offense per game than the Patriots in the time Kelce is not available
