Thanks, Capt. I wasn't sure if Ferentz was LG or RG but felt like LG made more sense, based on the snaps of others. If he was playing RG, that must have meant Hines was at LG? Unless I'm missing something.

Yep; for most if not all of the 2nd half the OL seemed to consist of (L-R) Stueber, Hines, Jake Andrews, Ferentz & Sow... One would think that Hines would be at RG with Ferentz at LG, but Bill did the same thing with Mafi & Russey during the first half before Russey's injury...

To follow up on this, not sure if posted anywhere else, but on the postgame show Mike Reiss said he spoke with Carl Davis in the locker room, who said he was fine.
Appreciate that. I was wondering how he is.

Based on usage looks like Mafi and Douglas are locks .
Agreed.

McDermott and Steuber have high probability of panning out.
I hope it's only one or the other.

Looks like sidy sow has a probability of being first 4th rounder to be cut or get the foxborough flu. I don't see him making the 53 now.
Not so fast my friend... Though I do admit the experiment at RT has been thus far a miserable failure.

Russey, Hines are definitely getting cut along with Nixon. His high snap counts indicate he is just cp body.

Agreed, on all 3 counts... Thanks a bunch Ernie.

Should we not all have learned by now that preseason means absolutely nothing other than players getting in shape?

BB likes playing head games with the fans and tv guys as much as his own players.
and above all else he loves playing head games with opposing coaches and the rest of the league.

Looking back at the highlights, White is seen standing up along the Edge and has good change of direction. Bill will have a lot of flexibility and can keep Judon and Uche fresh during the year. White looks like he could do some damage year 1 and could be steal.

Strong runs very upright like Chris Brown if anyone remembers in the early 2000's. Looks stiff due to his upright style.

Thornton showed some life with a great catch.

I didn't see much of Mapu.

Great to see Metchie out there beating leukemia.

About. Dam. Time.

I like Trevor Reid... A bit on the small-ish side, but he's bigger than Isaiah Wynn for instance... Good-enough arm length & wingspan... Needs more sand in his pants, but he's not weak either; and he's More than athletic enough for the position:

Trevor Reid - OT - Louisville - 2023 Draft Scout/NCAA College Football

We need a developmental Left Tackle in our building; that should be inarguable... It's practically sinful that one hasn't already been found this late in the process, but when considering that I would've preferred him to Isaiah Bolden at #245, Trevor Reid will do just fine, for now.

During the Pats dynasty, there was certainly a lot more starters that saw the field for at least one drive in the 1st preseason games. Now Bill is doing what all other teams do and don't think his starters need any reps despite having a losing record 2 of the last 3 seasons.
This doesn't reflect Bill thinking they need reps, it reflects their belief that the joint practices are FAR more productive. Not to mention that the CBA requirements that have lightened up on hitting so much make the first preseason game an injury waiting to happen.

Since Mapu has been practicing since the start of training camp with a no-contact jersey, why would you expect to see him at all?

I thought he was done with that.

Ice up son?

Yeah I think Mafi stays on for sure. McDermott is probably the 2nd string RT, Steuber is PS material. Sow, I don't know - need more data. Looked bad so far but everyone was bad. I don't know if the RT experiment will work out but he might still be a fine reserve guard. They'll keep one of Ferentz or Russey IMO - Russey hasn't really impressed me that much to warrant keeping him over Ferentz. Ferentz also stinks but he has a lot of veteran experience. Jake Andrews is the new Russey.

Agree. I just have a feeling one of Steuber or mcdermott might be in. Sow needs to have a solid 2 more weeks before cutdown starts . Jake Andrews not much hope. Not sure if it was a reach . Maybe the Offensive linemen class of this year is underwhelming . Hopefully Mafi pans out .

Would Onwenu be pushed to RT if he does an above average job as RT and sign him to a 4 year 50 million deal.

The top right tackles are making $15M+ per year unfortunately these days. It'd probably need to be at least that range.

I don't think they want to take him off right guard. I think in a perfect situation the line would be best with Onwenu at right guard and an average right tackle; however, they've struggled to find an average right tackle. If it were up to me, I'd move him to right tackle and field the best rookie available at right guard. Onwenu would not be at his "best" position but at least it solves the biggest glaring weakness on the line and I'd be less worried about a green right guard since they'd be playing in between David Andrews and Onwenu. I don't think Bill/BOB/Klemm are gonna do that though.

Onwenu is not a top right tackle hence 4 / 50 here with some incentives to push to 55 . Mafi seems to be decent at guard. Push him in and hopefully he improves.

Brown at LT with reif and Anderson / Steuber/McDermott as swing tackles.

I just don't see a spot for Sow unless it's a backup guard .

Ferentz might be safer than Russey/Hines/ J Andrew for backup center.

Yeah I would field a line of Brown/Strange/D.Andrews/Mafi/Onwenu to start, with Anderson as a swing tackle and Reiff as an additional backup tackle, Ferentz to cover the IOL in general, one other reserve guard (Murray? Hines?) and J.Andrews who would really only play if Ferentz is already covering someone else and D.Andrews also gets hurt. It'd be 10 total linemen.
