This is a great point. He's almost certainly going to have to find a way to fit on the 53 this year with their DB depth. This might be his last shot.
I have liked Wade since they picked him up, but he has shown nothing to establish himself beyond PS. Giving him a shot at safety makes sense. Otherwise I doubt he’ll make the 53. Maybe PS again but by now I think it’s more likely he’ll be displaced by a developmental rookie DB.

I also think it’s important the offense gets into a groove with success moving the ball so they feel they are making progress.
“Defense…we can’t be handing out participation trophies for the offense if you guys continue to play well!”

I did as well. Wade showed serious skills at slot CB in college. Physically he can play the position in the NFL but I think his heart or brains are the issue.

I won't go until the pads go on. I don't see the point.

I hope to go Monday because on Tuesday I'm leaving for Manhatten Beach for a week.
I read this in view of the Manhattan Beach pier. Hanging out in Hermosa until Monday.

Weather here is perfect, as usual, but there's a bacteria warning against going in the water (though a lot of people are swimming anyway). Have fun!

Matt Judon Gives Amusing Explanation For Red Sleeves, Sack Celebration

Judon, ever-entertaining, was asked Thursday about why he wears sleeves.

“On turf … I just get cut up all the time,” Judon said. “I got fragile skin, I guess. … Good skin, It get cut up on turf, so I was like, ‘skip this.’ “

Judon added: I can’t be buying new bedsheets every night … Come home, there’s blood all over my bedsheets. So, I started wearing sleeves, and here I wear the red ones.”

Instead of "investing" in a big-ass scoreboard, maybe ownership should've spent that money on figuring out a way to make natural grass the permanent playing surface there, not just their practice field.

Receiver separation has been a problem, mainly someone having the ability to simply beat the defender in front of them on their own, with certain front liners failing to make an impact and others wearing coverage down the field, leading to inefficient, contested targets.

The big-picture takeaway for the Patriots offense in the very early stages of camp is simple: will they begin moving the ball more easily when O'Brien can flex his scheme and game-planning muscles, or is this a player-based talent issue that can't be solved entirely by coaching?

I think we know the answer to that one.

Parker, JuJu & Dawghouse are All quality Receivers capable of earning a spot on the rosters of most NFL teams; that hasn't really been the issue...
It's that they need just one dude from the next level above them to complete the set and allow the other 3 to draw more favorable coverages while Thornton & Douglas are given more time to acclimate without having to play high-pressure snaps. Hopkins would've helped there; and let's face it Mac needs all the help he can get.

He is seriously terrible. At least Hoyer looked like an NFL QB in camp (not in actual games however).

As near as I can tell, he currently has a job as a nepo-hire for Bill O'Brien because he recruited the kid at Penn State.

There's a strong possibility there's a different emergency 3rd QB on the roster come the regular season, because McSorley makes Tim Tebow look accurate.

I'm a little surprised that a vet QB was never signed after Hoyer's inexplicable (to me anyway) release, and will be a little nervous if one isn't in the building no later than week 2, especially if Zappy doesn't find a way to stop his pass attempts from being batted-down so often.

It was a colossal mistake not to sign Hopkins. Not that he was going to transform the offense….but he would have improved that side of the ball a lot or a little…doesn’t matter….any improvement at the starting positions would help.

He was worth the flyer, but I think it’s clear this is probably his last chance.

He’s gotta stop with this side-arm crap. IMO it’s his biggest problem.

I think they decided the concerns we all knew about (has he lost a step, would he get along with BOB, etc.) made them decide it wasn’t a good enough fit.

I understand…I just think it was worth the risk considering our current roster.

Assuming Jack Jones is out, If Gonzo is a true #1 outside CB as advertised, when he's ready they'll likely have him lockdown the #2 WR 1:1 while Jon Jones gets safety help 2:1 on the #1 WR. That's what they did with Gilmore, Revis, and Talib.
I don't think thier is any question on whether gonzo is the #1 CB. However all I care about is he shows his potential come week 1.. and I'll agree he should be on the #2.. Jon and a safety on the #1.

That's a great formula.

Douglas continues to get plenty of work with frontline players and Mac Jones, and his quickness has been noticeable. He grabbed a shallow cross from Zappe as Bryant chased from behind in 11-on-11s, offering a glimpse of his explosiveness.

Great to see that Douglas is explosive, but almost all receivers look explosive compared to Bryant.
Get used to saying " as Bryant chased him from behind "

Right. That report from Lazar saying that the receivers just aren't getting separation is concerning. Though our DBs are REALLY good.
