Sad cause he was my number 2 wr I scouted in that draft after JamesonWilliams.
I was convened about Pickens attitude and getting separation against top DBs.
I may be as bad at Bill at evaluating WRs since I loved Thornton and Chad Jackson.
To be fair I would of hit on Stephon Diggs, and Amon Brown,

Please let Thornton developers, if not mystery injury on PUP or IR,
Would love to see Boutte look more than Jefferson than Thompkins.
I wished I could have locked BB in room and make the George Pickens selection that Draft what a whiff on a sure thing. That said I like Tyan T but not necessarily where we Drafted him.

I am pretty excited about double D. He was a very agile quick and shifty player in college. Hoping adding 22 pounds of muscle does not impact his quickness. Not saying he will be Julian Edelman or Wes Welker, but his agility and quickness are on similar level.
Can not find 3 cone drill times on him...but as far as the eye test goes...if you look at his play..he makes extremely precise and quick cuts.

I think he has a very high ceiling. But I guess he could flame out in TC. The fact that BB put him in with starters on day 1 of TC means BoB wants to get a long look at him.

Here ya go:

His shuttle times are surprisingly Awful for his size, though his 3-cone is pretty good but not eye-popping.

Watching a lot of his highlights has shown me somebody who uses his instincts & leverage to his advantage, and who knows how to play the Inside game... If he can translate those smarts to the NFL then he could be of big help to Mac in those 3rd/3-5 situations.

Ask and ye shall receive:

Flashback to last year. It's still an absolute insanity that BB did what he did with Matty P. He had to have known a few days into camp. And only pure hubris or fear of losing the players trust, or his job, caused him to go through with it for the whole year. Absurd that this is in our - OUR PATRIOTS - legacy now.

That's why I call you Coach cap for a reason Douglas should be a walking First Down in third and short situations.

They're likely looking for that TE3 - giving Sokol, who's a much better in-line blocker than Gisecki, a long look, probably Firkser, too.
Sokol has the size, athleticism, and brains. Both his parents are 1988 USMA grads. West Point.

He was a QB in high school.

Did almost nothing his senior year. The offense was putrid. Jet sweeps to the short side of the field.

But in Mich ST’s pro day he kicked arse and opened up the eyes of the scouts.

Who the hell is he? you could see on their faces.

Third day of training camp, I don't care, I can't stand it!

No NFL stats to date is kind of troubling though.

So everything I read is offense is struggling with no receivers getting separation. Sounds like same old problems.

Almost like DeAndre Hopkins could've helped

That said it would be very interesting if Matt Sokol found himself or a NFL game in TC 2023. Maybe that's why they didn't Draft any of the Top TE's last Draft.

The Pads aren't even on yet we just have to wait and see.

I'd love it if Board were more than just a special teamer. Makes me feel a whole lot better about our LB depth.
That indeed would be a benefit

I have a suspicion the Pats will try to move one of Judon or Uche for a WR on a manageable contract.

I thought this before the draft but with both coming up for new deals Patriots don’t typically pay top of market value to the same two positions.

Only example I can think of is Gronk and Hernandez,

They traded Seymour to Pay Wilfork.
They let Talib go to pay Revis.
Welker for Edelman. I get this is redundant.
I just don’t see us paying both of them.
I love Uche but he is going to command more with his youth I think if you move on you trade him.
Judon is incredibly popular and is a great example for younger players.

Thoughts?

The pats may have a top 5 CB trio with Jack Jones suspended in Gonzalez, Jonathan Jones & Marcus Jones. Their group with Jack Jones will contend with the jets for the best in the NFL.
Let's slow down some with that one... Jonathan didn't look real good outside the numbers last year; he's better-suited at either FS or SCB; Marcus is also better Inside than Outside; and Gonzo hasn't yet played vs anybody but his own teammates.

The pats passing game success will be through running the ball & play action. They don’t have the personnel to win consistently on passing downs IMO.

Not panicking on the offense yet as they are outmatched in camp & their strengths won’t be emphasized without pads either.

Agreed.

Patriots have really sticky corners, especially with the addition of Gonzalez. I am not concerned about separation at all. Like others have said. Add pads, a running game, and a game plan and it will look different.

It's awesome that the secondary is so good.
