Imma just leave this right here...

Yep, left just like a pile of on the sidewalk.

You leave out all the important details.

The Jete were bidding against no-one for Rodgers services.

The Packers were going to CUT HIM!

If da Jete had any balls at all they would have let him hit FA and then not had all that money on the books that they had to do something with.

And of course, they would not have given up first, second and sixth rounders this year, and a second next year that becomes a first if he plays 65% of the snaps this season (which is the one good thing da Jete did, since he probably won't last one season behind the Jete OL).

But nope, Woody had to give dopey Jete fans a name and a hope to cling to, so he got on his private jete (lol) and washed Aaron's balls.

As usual, Jete will take it up the ass in the long term, they're just too dumb to realize it.

They gave up primo draft capital this season and next, and are gonna be taking the accelerated cap hit in a year or two from now, so they will not just take it up the ass, it'll be unlubed.

You'll figure it out eventually.

110 guaranteed before. 75 guaranteed now.

It was 112.5 guaranteed when he signed it in 2022. He was already paid 37.5 (for last year) bringing the remaining guarantee to 75.

You’ll figure it out eventually (dumbass).

You'll figure it out eventually that the guarantee only exists because the Jete were too stupid to let the Packers do what they were going to do anyway and cut him.

The only part of the Brady experience da Jete will share is the accelerated cap hit when void years get cancelled.

We worked through our pain, now check out how Tampa is doing, and you'll see where you'll be in a season or two.

Incorrect again.

They could have cut him, but they still were on the hook for 110 mil.

Right, but now they aren't, da Jete inherited the contract.

That, plus getting all that draft capital for a player they were going to cut anyway, makes it a huge Packers win.

And now arod has taken a $35 mil guaranteed cut.

We can agree to disagree on whether GB would have eaten 110 mil to cut arod. That seems absolutely insane to me.

The Green Bay contract was so spitefully structured on both sides. Last two years are under market so it forces Rodgers to retire and then he won’t get all his money, or the Packers to cut him so they’re paying tons of dead money. It’s a complete disaster of a contract and had been redone multiple times.

The noteworthy part is that he had 75M remaining in guarantees (when you subtract the huge payments he already received as signing bonus) and 37.5M AAV. It’s too complicated to extract this like a typical FA contract because all of the previous deals, clauses, etc. The new deal is simply a streamlined contract for 2 yrs of service at the same rate of 37.5M.

Also Rodgers can seek FA in 2025 and the Jets do not have two under market years like the Packers had. If there was some amount of guaranteed money reduction, that’s a consideration as Aahole isn’t under contract after next season. He did not simply lop off $30-40M as a goodwill charity gesture to the Jets.

Need to post this yearly ... tradition.
RIP to you Frank ... but ...

Sorry Ice, I'm going to believe the cap and nfl professionals over you here.

Ok, then take the word of the guy who ran the Packers cap for 10 years and signed Aaron to his first NFL contract, when he points out how bad da Jete screwed up by taking Rodgers off the Packers's hands:

“So let me get this straight…heres the deal…Packers get a first-round swap this year, a high second round this year, a second next year that likely turns into a first, they get $60 million taken off their books. And if he plays two years, they get 100 million taken off their books. 100 million dollars! All for a player who in no way on God’s green earth was gonna play for the Green Bay Packers ever again. That’s a good deal.”

Arod just took a $35 million pay cut. /end

You can discuss the trade with others. That was months ago.

Being impatient and not waiting for the Packers to cut Rodgers is exactly why the Jete have the void years on their books.

They could have waited and paid Rodgers the exact same amount of guaranteed cash, without the void years, and without the lost draft capital, if they and their dumb ass owner didn't get a giant hard-on and just let things play out.

You want to ignore the deal, but it is exactly what set up the current set of circumstances.

Oy vey...

No. 3: Rodgers is cut

Not going to happen. It’s not even worth really discussing this, but for completeness let’s do it.

If the Packers cut Aaron Rodgers he will count towards $99M of the cap in 2023. If they chose to split that it would be $31M in 2023 and then $68.2M in 2024. Cutting Rodgers would doom Green Bay for damn near a decade and destroy the organization.

It will not happen.

Oy vey...

Oy vey, indeed!
