Player Signing Patriots sign WR Jalen "Always Hurt" Hurd

Unique guy. Not your usual 90th man added.
Yeah, obviously with the constant injuries in SF it didn’t work out, but if he’s relatively healthy now he could be used as a “gadget” player. I think BOB would really like to throw him out there a few snaps a game just to create a mismatch. On low snaps, re-injury risk is minimized. Do wonder if he plays Special Teams.

The Patriots must be desperate if they think he can help.
Yeah, those fringe, camp body, roster spots have always been key pieces in Superbowl runs.

Shut the **** up already.

Hurd was out of the league for 4 years and was never in the league. Unique situation. Like a rookie but has pre-season experience.
I thought he was with the 9ners? 3rd rounder??.. I know he was a 2019 draft pick.. so wow 4 years.. I thought it was 2 years..

San Fran is an injury factory...If he's signing now on the eve of camp it's got to be for short money... Basically camp competition... Maybe it works out, maybe it doesn't... Nbd either way
I love his size.. always want bigger WRs on the roster.. Parker is only one over 6ft.
At 6" 5 I'd absolutely love it if he came in and turned heads enough to make the final roster.

Fans: Bill, i want Deandre Hopkins!"

Bill "but we have Deandre hopkins at home!"

Deandre Hopkins at home....

Whats not to love about that... but we need to be cautiously optimistic... guys like that rarely shake that Injury Prone Tag... Some do, but to takes a lot of work and dedication to do so... Fred Taylor is one example... I believe he got a nickname early on in his career, which was "Fragile Fred"... but he worked at it and was able to shake that tag, least for a little while...

Hurd flamed out because of injury, and hasn't contributed one stat in the NFL. Useless.
We have plenty of big guys who don't separate or create quick completions. Why don't we get a true slot!?!?!

Agreed, I was reading that he didn't have any health issues while in college. I'm rooting for him as I want there to be as much WR competition as possible.. I don't anyone feeling entitled to anything.. this will only likely get everyone's best.

I certainly remember Fred Taylor we signed him at the end of his illustrious career. We have some injury prone guys already on our current roster we certainly don't need more.. lol but a 6'5 WR if he can make plays enough to convince the coaches then it's a win/win..

Can Hurd do anything Gesicki can't do better?
He's certainly not going to push out DP, KB, JSS, TT - or likely Boutte or Douglas since those guys are draft picks with no baggage.
So, he's a camp body for emergency reinforcements mid-year.

I don’t understand why anyone is *****ing about a summer addition at the very end of the roster. What is the harm in bringing guys like this in? This is how they ended up getting guys like Malcom Butler, that nobody else wanted. You don’t lose anything, and every now and then you get something worthwhile out of it.

I agree with the sentiment and your overall point, but their top 4 WRs, including Parker are all 6ft or over, as is Nixon.

Thank you. Yes I had mentioned Parker...I know Nixon is on the roster as well. I just really like the idea of having bigger WRs.. someone has to win on the outside this season.. if we can have someone.. anyone that can consistently win on the outside this season that will make our offense dangerous

I think you need a variety of receivers that complement each other, that’s why I’m hoping Douglas makes this team, as they need a really quick WR to play that role that Welker and Edelman provided Brady for years. The big guys can help outside the hashes, downfield, and in the red zone, but having guys who can get open instantly also plays a big role in the offense working in all situations.

Agreed.. this season more than anything. There are really no concrete roles so to speak. Guys will have to earn thier spots. I just want my team to have playmakers.. it doesn't matter whom.. just Guys that will make plays and be consistent not flash every 2,3 games. KB, juju, Parker I'd say would be the 1s in camp.. at WR. However we know it will all depend on how Guys perform with thier reps. Our defense has an aggressive front and dam good secondary is Mac can make plays against our defense then that's impressive.

One positive here - he would’ve shared the WR room in 2019 and 2020 in SF with Kendrick Bourne, so hopefully Bourne can help him get up to speed with how things operate in NE.
Why get him depressed so early?

Probably about as bad an injury history as you can get but worth a flyer to fill out the 90 man roster.

No he's not.
