DRAFT Jake Andrews - Round 4 - 107th Overall

Why are so many people on this board more concerned with knowing who our starting RG in 2024 is than who our starting LEFT TACKLE is for THIS year?

Tying themselves in knots attempting to justify these ****ING AWFUL AND UNNECESSARY picks… It is to laugh…

This guy looks like a guard playing center. My guess is he gets injured by day 2 or day 3 of training camp.

He didn’t take Luke Wypler, so I’m projecting Andrews to get arrested for engaging a prostitute and selling stolen cars, it only makes sense.

Doesn't Dave Andrews have some recent health issues with blood clots? I wonder if they are acting up again (pure speculation on my part).

Andrews has been a really good player for the Patriots, but he’s clearly wrapping up his career, drafting Center makes perfect sense.

How’d that work out last year?
Crappy. The same with the rest of the ENTIRE O-line except Onwenu. But it's amazing how quickly you ignore the piss poor coaching on the offensive side of the ball when it suits you.

That is unfortunate because driving around with an unlicensed submachine gun on the back seat is a misdemeanor.

He said he likes Gonzalez and White in R1 and R2.
Do you have a quote for that? I honestly cannot remember the Cap'n ever outright liking a BB draft pick. Only his silence was assent.

Sorry I do not keep quotes, but I am sure he said in a redraft that he would not change R1 Gonzalez or R2 White. Almost positive. In another post I remember him saying that R1 and R2 were OK.

You’re right. But these are guys being paid millions of dollars to be professionals. I can’t get that removed from my thinking.

That’s why I love former Patriots like Matt Light, who would have risen above the mess that was last season.

The biggest coaching error that has never been explained is the decision to flip tackles. Having Wynn moved to RT was the kind of mistake that ruins QBs. And the blindside wasn’t great, either.

I’m surprised Brian Hoyer was able to get up from that vicious Rashard Gary hit in Green Bay when Wynn decided to pick daisies.

I didn't realize he lost his job and was cut. What was your film grade of him?
Sorry. Gotta pay me to do that. But Trent Brown was inconsistent. And he should be moved to RT. Mac Jones doesn’t trust the Plodding Bear.

He ain’t dancing no more.

How much of that dysfunction was on him and how much was on a laughably predictable and incompetently run offense?

So an aged career tackle, with no history of excessive penalties, all of a sudden in the twilight of his career becomes bad at knowing what the snap count is?

Or was it opposing defenders knowing what the play was, knowing when the snap was coming and getting a massive jump on it… and as a left tackle nobody was more susceptible to that incompetence than Brown?

I think the entire line was at a disadvantage last season like every other offensive player was… that’s why everyone gets to start over and start fresh. The last time Brown was in a contract year he played at a Pro Bowl level.

I’m not concerned that Trent Brown forgot how to play football at 29. He has to stay healthy, motivated, be a part of a successfully run offense and he’ll be fine.

I don’t think this pick was necessary at the time. Kody Russey who has played center for years isn’t going to be beaten easily as backup.

This will be the keenest competition perhaps in training camp, aside from seeing Boutte possibly earn a roster spot.

Good points. We’ll never know. But TB last played really well at LT in 2018. When the Raiders acquired him the following year year after his dominance they moved him to RT.

That’s where he belongs today.

Tom Cable, the Raiders OL coach at the time, made the call. IMO he’s the second best such position coach after the Eagles’ Jeff Stoutland, who is clearly the new Dante.
