O’Brien is going to demand accountability of the receivers

I think this is big. For all the talk last year about the o-line and Jones last year, the receiving corp was awful last year. Bad route running. Not looking back for the ball. Not finishing routes. Poor sideline management.

From Giardi’s report, looks like there was no accountability for receivers last year and that is going to change.

I am betting that DeVante Parker will be first on sidelines watching with OC BOB. Chalk that up to lack of separation.

Yea why not. He only caught 66% of his balls and led the team in YPC and yards per target.

His issue is health - not poor play
Not going lie Rob I don't like Parker's skill set for our Team @ WR. We have not done well with those type of WR's.

Other than Harry, who has done poorly with Parker’s skill set? My recollection is that the Pats haven't had many big possession “jump ball” receivers.

I think everyone should get a mulligan for last year including troy. But alot at stake this year and next. For the most part i just want bb to accept his failures last year and realize the guys that ‘acted out’ maybe were right about alot of things? Move on, Start with a clean slate and see what we can do with this year’s additions. If any of last years drama spills over into this year itll just be more wasted time.

It was pretty obvious that at the beginning of last season Mac was coached to put the ball up for grabs by Parker. That was terrible coaching, you don't force the ball unless you are desperate, receivers good at contested catches get plenty of opportunities to show off that skill even if targeted when supposedly open.

Getting separation is always important, but Parker’s role is to be a big target that wins balls outside the hashes and in the red zone. However the offense has to be running properly for players to be able to get their jobs done in the overall scheme. If there is poor protection, or players aren’t doing their jobs within the play then everything breaks down. Last season was the worst coaching job of Belichick’s career, as he is ultimately responsible for how the team runs in every facet. But the offense, in particular, was the worst I can remember in years and years. H

The Great Randy Moss.

Randy Moss wasn't a jump ball receiver though. He could win the jump balls yes, but he was also blazing fast and a smart route runner (and overall player). Also, we shouldn't be comparing any player's performance and skill set with Randy Moss, any more than we should judge a TE's performance with Rob Gronkokwski. Nobody looks good frame by frame next to a top 3 all-time player at their position.

EDIT: @Chevy beat me to it!

I don’t have a problem with Troy Brown not complaining to the local media about how much of a disaster his boss (Matt Patricia) created on offense.

Troy is a capable coach who’s a team player. Let’s see how things work out in 2023.

That's fine. We've had worse than Parker. We aren't talking about Donald Hayes or Ocho Stinko here. The man produced and did well.

I really think BOB will have a better idea how to use him, too.
