He's on a 4-year, but he's managed to get picked in the first, be on his (cheap) rookie deal, and still have BB champing at the bit to pressure him. I dont think he likes how Mac handled a legitimately bad situation. And if he doesn't take the job in camp it won't be given to him. Granted, he's not up against world-beaters.Mac needs be on the hot seat this upcoming season. This will be the ultimate test for him, he needs to outplay Allen,Rogers and Tua. If he can't then he shouldn't have a future as the starting QB for this team.
He passes the eyeball test. You want to spend a quarter billion cap dollars on non-production based on benefits you cannot quantify, because he passed the eyeball test. If he opens up the passing game, why are the Ravens such a bad passing team with him? Because they didn't have Hopkins and Beckham? I mean, yeah I'd predict he'll look better with new toys (and bear in mind Hopkins is still rumor, unless I missed something.)Disagree. . Lamar passes the eyeball test with flying colors, Mac does not. He makes the running game virtually unstoppable which opens up the passing game.
Watch LJ next year with Odell, Hopkins and Andrews....you will come around when they are in the AFC championship game, while us Patriots fans are sitting around talking once again which QB we should draft in April 2025.
I've been advocating for the Patriots to take a hard run at Lamar Jackson. It's April 26 and you already have predicted the Patriots' upcoming season as an exercise in futility. Your posts are so dour and negative, what do you get from this? Are you hoping to come back nine months from now beating your chest with "I told you so"? What's the joy in that? A fan hopes against hope that his team will do well when the odds look stacked against it. A fan who wants his team to succeed entertains positive scenarios, however possible or outlandish. You might end up being right with your dispassionately "realistic," glass-half-empty armchair analyses. BFD. No one will care but yourself.
I've been advocating for the Patriots to take a hard run at Lamar Jackson.
Alternatively I said taking a run at Rodgers made sense (especially for BB).
I even considered that they should take a look at Carr.
I wanted them to re-sign Jakobi. I wanted them to pursue Lazard. I wanted them to trade for Hopkins.
I entertained many "positive scenarios" but none have happened. I want them to take the best available WR at 14 so we'll see what happens there.
I gave a thumbs up on the JuJu signing even though I ultimately see it as a lateral move. Gesicki is an upgrade at TE2. O'Brien will have a positive impact.
I'm down on the QB. It's the worst position possible for one of your team's weaknesses. Especially when it's now a strength of each of your divisional opponents. And I don't have to say I told you so in nine months because I'm saying it now.
I know the offense and defense were both excellent in terms of rankings in 2021, they couldn’t beat good teams and lost by 40 in the WC game. Not sure what fantasy that is, but it’s unfortunately real lifeMore nonsensical crap from you. All you know is what your fantasy points tell you. You know Jack about the actual game.
The Pats defense was excellent last season. The offense, not so much. The offense will be better this year (barring injuries) .
You clearly are a parrot without a BrainYet, all you are is a fantasy stats guy..
Bill forced Brady out so he didn't get a dignified exit. I'd have no problem seeing Kraft show Bill the door now. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. It's about the players and Bill has failed recently. I think his age has caught up to him.I would think (hope) that Bill would have constructed the roster differently with Brady than he did with Cam in that mess of a season. Maybe Bill making the move for Diggs was too rich for his blood but Hopkins was available then too and went for less as far as trade compensation. Even guys like Emmanuel Sanders and Robbie Anderson still had something in the tank at that point and would have been upgrades over who we had. If Bill doesn't take a receiver high or make a move for Hopkins or Jeudy (or a guy in that skill range) then it seems pretty apparent he doesn't value that position even with a young QB who needs a lot more help than Brady ever did. Bill set Brady up to fail at the end here and so far it seems as if he is doing the same to Mac.
I am hoping that Bill at least gets a dignified exit and that it is framed as a retirement more than a firing. I think he has earned that and Kraft would be willing to play along. What I am not so sure about is whether Bill would go quietly so close to the record. I honestly think he would take another job for a season or two to win the record and that makes me wonder if Kraft would rather keep him here a season or two too long and get mediocre results than see him break Shula's record elsewhere after just watching Brady win a ring elsewhere.
I'm not sure of Jones yet but like all QBs he needs players around him more than anything else. The players on offense for the Pats are anemic compared to the rest of the AFCE.Mac needs be on the hot seat this upcoming season. This will be the ultimate test for him, he needs to outplay Allen,Rogers and Tua. If he can't then he shouldn't have a future as the starting QB for this team.
With each poor season it's more obvious that Bill lost something off his fastball. Acting like he's Nolan Ryan now doesn't help at all.there's being critical than there's being a whiny twit who offers only negativity. That's what's come out of the mouths of you, Patsfan2, 203Pats and a host of others. You're only half a step above the troll, all3phases.

ROFLMAO. The irony of someone who constantly "moves the goalpost" complaining about someone "moving the goal posts" is rich beyond belief.A few things
1- You didnt say that originally, that was a goal post move
2- They had plenty of room in 2021 to build a roster that they wanted...Bradys deal was cheap, not sure how people dont realize this yet
3- They have won super bowls without all of the people you mentioned in this post, but carry on
Parrot with no examplesROFLMAO. The irony of someone who constantly "moves the goalpost" complaining about someone "moving the goal posts" is rich beyond belief.
Incorrect. Especially if they didnt screw with Brady before he signed his 2019 deal...2/50 for an MVP qb is chump change. They would NOT have been able to build the roster they wanted if Brady had stayed. Yet again, you're showing your inability to understand the cap.
Didnt you just say their defense is excellent? WhoopsThey won SuperBowls with a Defense filled with under-rated stars, above average skill players on offense, and a very good O-line. They didn't have that in 2019 or in 2021. There were critical pieces missing. Oh. Wait. Those are FACTS. You don't like facts..
This is more proof that you don't understand the salary Cap. You're making the assumption that the Pats would have a ton of money to spend in free agency if Brady had been on the roster. Newsflash, they wouldn't have. In 2021, Brady was in the 2nd year of his 2nd deal with Tampa. If he'd been on the Patriots, he'd have been in the 2nd year of the contract that he'd wanted. So it would have been MORE than the $10.5M he cost Tampa. It would have been closer to the $25M of his 2020 deal or possible MORE. Remember, that's what he was seeking on a 2 yr deal when he left the Pats in 2020.Saying the Patriots couldve upgraded their talent with a ton of money in 2021 is not an assumption even with Brady on the roster...You conveniently left off Jonnu, who made a ton of money. He couldve been a quick substitute right?
The only assumption being made is you thinking they wouldve had no success, thats an assumption.
You are talking about leading a capable offense in 2021, then immediately talk about the end of 2022 after he briefly retired...You are having some trouble keeping up here. Also, 3 of those guys were the guys you claimed Brady needed, if it was them, why did all of their play dip in 2022? Whoops
Yet Smith only cost 6.5M against the Cap. Even MORE proof you have no clue. So you gave no point. He signed for 50$ mil, 30+ GTD in 2021...Theres a massive chunk of the Brady contract bud. Thats the point
2/50 for an MVP qb is not expensive. You conveniently just assumed they wouldnt have added extra years like the Bucs did...for your argument only. Remember, that's what he was seeking on a 2 yr deal when he left the Pats in 2020.
All you did was say there was no way around spreading the money around, like the Bucs did. Again, dishonest with yourself hereLet's review the signings in 2021. Smith's Cap hit was only 5.6M in 2021. Hunter Henry's hit was just 6.8M. Agholor's was 6.9M. Judon's hit was 6.3M. They also re-signed DMac (11M), Hoyer (2.6M), James White (1.2M), Lawrence Guy (1.675M), Dietrich Wise (3.69M), Carl Davis (1.09), Nick Folk (1.8M), Justin Bethel (1.9M), and Cody Davis (1.9M). (players in bold are ones who were major contributors going into that season). So, who do you NOT re-sign to keep Brady at the $25M cap hit? The minimum number of players to get to $25M is 4 based on the numbers. One of which would have been D-Mac. However, he'd still have required a significant dead cap hit.
Yes, An MVP qb is better then having Carl Davis and 2 bad offensive weapons....You thinking otherwise is the reason why youre in denial how all of a sudden the Patriots arent good anymore...What a big coincidence! At a minimum, you're talking about not re-signing D-Mac, Not adding Agholor and Smith, and not re-signing Carl Davis. Do you REALLY think they'd have had success with a hole on special teams, a lack of players on offense for Brady since you're talking out Smith and Agholor, and losing their Captain of Defense in DMac?
BTW, SFBs, it's well established that the Offense's play dipped in 2022 because of Patricia and Judge. So, that's not really the "GOTCHA" you're pretending. If Brady had still been here at the end of 2021, he'd have retired, been done, and probably would still be married to Giselle.
You suck at being Ms. Cleo even more than you suck at the Salary Cap. I didn't think that was possible.
And still paying his dead money in 2023...ALmost like you can spread the money out in a million waysYet Smith only cost 6.5M against the Cap. Even MORE proof you have no clue. So you gave no point.
Have you not watched Rodgers in the last three playoff seasons all ending up with losses at home?Or 3.
