LOL of the people whining at the OP thread title...
I 100% believe Bill the GM would get rid off Mac Jones for a third round pick if he could get it. It is obvious that since Jones dared show displeasure with the "offensive" coaching last year that he has been on Bill the Coach's sh#tlist. If he could get Lance for Jones Bill the GM would do it in a heartbeat. Obviously, Bill the GM would have to convince the owner. Bill the Coach and his handpicked OC can't even bring themselves to MENTION Mac Jones by name! The Coaches hate Mac Jones down at One Patriot Place. Bill the Coach and Bill the OC can't even bring themselves to say one positive thing about their first round draft pick quarterback...it's really pathetic and shows how vindictive and childish they are down there. Lest we forget Bill the Coach couldn't even wear Kraft's anti-semitism pin in the proper place - the guy wore it down under his belly button. Give me a break.

I agree I think as soon as the draft starts and the Pats pick a QB and shocks the world or the Pats watch a team like the Titans miss out on their guy Mac will be a dealt for a second or 2 mid round picks.

BB will not make an exception for Macs behavior.
He wouldn’t do it for Tom why would he for Mac?
I don’t think it’s a coincidence the Pats looked at Richardson and Levis but skipped out on visiting Stroud.

They know everything about Young from OB and Saban.
Pats are going to shock the world.
I will be more than surprised if the Pats don’t trade Mac by the end of Day 2 of the draft.

The curse of the Bambino 2023?

History always repeats itself.
Where can I get this kinda curse ?!?! I’m all in.

Oh no ! We need to win six championships ?!?? What ever will fans do ?

Promise me six SB wins and I’ll gladly “need to move on once that player hits his mid 40s”…

That's not a rumor that's just someone throwing some sports talk fodder out there.

The OP should be permanently banned for posting video of the most unlistenable sports talk show in the country.

That said, it isn't a rumor. It is talk show fodder.

I think Shanahan would make this trade in second. Word was he really liked Jones and was talked out of it by Lynch and the owner after the fan response. That said. Ain't going to happen.

Lance looked like crap last year even before he got injured (even if it was really early in the year). He was always a crap shoot. A lot of amazing physical gifts, but doesn't seem to have any football intelligence. He doesn't see the field and doesn't work through his progressions fast enough (these are Jones' strengths when he isn't in a Patricia offense). He would be awful in an O'Brien offense.

Lance was a legitimate prospect/project coming out of college. Cannon arm, could run out of the building. Due to injuries or whatever else he hasn’t progressed one iota. You would figure he would of atleast adjusted a little bit to nfl speed? To me he looked more frantic than Mac in the pocket when on the field and that’s in a Shanahan offense that has a lot of success making QBs feel comfortable. As intriguing as his skill set is and as outlandish as this talk is I’d have to say no. This isn’t even a rumor, its just a talking head throwing stuff out there.

First: WEEI sucks.

Second: What has Trey Lance done to make anyone think he's an upgrade over Mac, who barely fogs the mirror right now?

Third: Refer to point #1.

He said, 'At this point in my career, I want to coach guys I like. I want to coach guys I want to be around and that's it. ' He said, 'I'm not going to coach anybody else. '”

Belichick’s quote in 2017

This is why the talk of moving Mac could be a very real possibility.

Kraft won't allow it and there is at least a possibility that Mac is with this team longer than Belichick.

I will say this. If Kraft does ket Belichick trade Mac, Belichick will have to win at least one playoff game this year to keep his job. He may have to do that to keep his job even with Mac, but trading Mac would definitelty put Belichick on the hot seat and the expectations would be that trade makes the Patriots a playoff team.

Odds are the Pats aren't going to be in the position of getting one of the four top QBs in the draft. So Kraft will demand that Belichick stands behind Zappe or whatever veteran he can get are the missing piece to the Patriots' playoff puzzle.

All that said, the odds of Mac being trades are next to nothing.

All of the WEEI shows are now worse after all the changes. The two dudes on with Meg-o now are legitimately hard to listen to. I've basically stopped tuning into anything on weei.

Kraft said publicly Bill makes all the decisions.
However I agree if Bill trades him it’s a playoff win or bust.

I understand there are some weird power dynamics going on in SF but why would Lynch need to talk Shanahan out of Jones. Lynch is the GM.

Because Shanahan has a lot of say in personnel. He has almost as much power in that area as Belichick has here. Lynch is more like how Matt Groh is here rather than a GM in most organizations.

There are some moves that Belichick cannot make without buy in by Kraft. Word is Kraft sided with Brady over Garoppolo while Belichick wanted to move on from Brady (maybe not immediately) and make Garoppolo his successor and Kraft won the disagreement and Belichick traded Jimmy away for less than he could have gotten in the previous offseason.

Kraft is not going to let Belichick just trade away Jones after Kraft has made full throated endorsements of Jones on Fox Business and at the owner's meetings.

And to be perfectly honest with you. After last year, Kraft may already be thinking about life after Belichick and be willing to side with Mac and tell Belichick if he doesn't like it, he can resign and they make Mayo the head coach. At the owners meetings, Kraft made it clear that Belichick undermined Mac with his coaching decisions.

I'm ok with trading Mac Jones but I'm not really interested in Trey Lance even he's likely to be better than Jones. The Patriots should have been in on Jackson, Rodgers, or Carr. They passed on all three so at this point it seems obvious the plan is Mac or Zappe.

Shanahan got Lynch hired. He has the final say.

Surprised people still think it’s the other way around.

Yeah, not to pile on, but this is such blatant misinformation that it needs to be publicly shamed. There's no reason to title it the way you did based on that tweet unless you were intentionally trying to stir something up. Going to ignore the thread now, but come on man.
Consider the source...

John Lynch and BB working together to help each other out.

Thread should be re-titled "Mac Haters, Unite!"...
All your boy has to do is win.

No more excuses.

I figure that he has the first 4 games of 2023 to go at least 2 - 2. That's not asking for or expecting too much. He gets another 4 games assuming his play has improved noticeably.

There will be an illusion that Bill is under pressure by Kraft, but Kraft isn’t going to fire him if they have another non playoff season.

You could spin this as being a bad look on Kraft if he fired Bill after bringing the most titles to Boston in NFL History.
