PFT: Bill "has shopped" Mac

By mid 2022 I think it was clear to all that what went down was a fireable offense under normal circumstances. But with BBs resume circumstances are not normal and it's still the right thing to weigh the good more than the bad.

I mean the only way anyone can justify Bill not getting more of a leash is first to discredit his previous accomplishments as being all TB12. Which I just find silly. Otherwise he deserves longer than everyone else with a SB win on their resume nevermind 6.

Somehow Sean Payton still gets credit. He only won one and it was over a decade ago. Yet he gets hired to new a spot and is considered one of the best in the league again even before a game with the new team.

Sean McVay is even better than Payton. Boy genius. All the guy does is win.

This thread is a *********** for Brady lovers/Belichick haters ... oh well ... it is the silly season.
I'm neither, but if Homer's can't figure out it was stupid to get rid of a franchise QB when they are so rare then ignorance truly is bliss.

It's amazing how many people are so dedicated to dumping on BB, Mac, Kraft, etc. vs. actively rooting for them and the team to do well.

Zappe, too. Plenty of over-the-top, nonsense, clickbait posts about him as well. And virtually every other player on the team, too.

The draft is 22 days away, perhaps then this board can move beyond conspiracy theories from "dubious sources"..
Then there will be the bytching and whining about the draft...

Pure comedy gold right here!!!
The comedy is reading the Mac lovers in crisis mode regarding these rumors.

How could BB even entertain the notion of moving on from Mac Jones the winner? Hopefully if Mac goes they follow him.

You hate everything patriots. It has been your shtick for almost two decades. Doesn't it get old after a while? Don't you ever think boy I could be doing something I enjoy rather than posting negativity here day after day after day? Do you get some perverse turnon coming to a patriots board and getting fans of the team upset with you? I simply don't understand it/can't comprehend it. Whatever, sorry I interupted your negativity, I realize I shouldn't feed you and your ilk, it must have been difficult suffering through the last 20 years of positivity.

It's not "Mac lovers" to say trading Mac for pennies on the dollar is a bad idea. Bad teams trade their 1st round QB because the coach is taking a hissy fit. Saying "give mac a year to prove himself or fail" isn't exactly showering praise

Look at it from a logical perspective.

Year 1 - Mac looks promising with a real OC.

Year 2 - bill hires 2 buffoons who have no idea about offense and Mac and the rest of the team look garbage. He ruined his own players

Now Bill mad because players like hoyer, Meyers, mac dare question his bad decision which everyone in the world could see was bad. The real blame should be on Bill.

If this happened and Mac improves with another team under an actual OC (which is a real possibility) and bill struggles with a combo of zappe etc. Pretty sure that would be Krafts final straw

Personally I don't buy the story. Why bring in an Alabama OC in bill O'Brien and Mac guys just to trade him.

I only see him listing TC as the trade rumor source
Depends on how you interpret it. I could certainly be reading it incorrectly vs how Kyed intended it.

I don’t think Bill has a problem with people asking questions. I think he has an issue when they call people outside the organization to ask questions. He probably also has problems with players freelancing and doing what they want on the field. I’m sure he’s open to questions and criticism internally but at the end of the day, you’ve gotta do what coach says even if you don’t like it. If you go rogue, you’re putting yourself above the team.

he had other sources for the old quotes.......he still only listed florio's one source as the only source of the "shopped around" rumors......all of this nonsense was spawned by ONE florio 'anon' source.......

even funnier to see andrew callahan now backing away from the story, after he ran with it yesterday......he argued with me yesterday about the way media uses "aggregation" to write their stories, basically taking someone else's ball and running with it......in this case, he took florio's report from one unnamed, unverified source......and instead of reaching out to his contacts and verifying the report, he took a bunch of old quotes and tied it to florio's piece, and said "see, it's true!".......now today he is running away from the story, and saying nope, others said "no way", it didn't happen, Mac is the QB

it's not even journalism.......it's social media ********

the journalist looks at florio's peice, says hey, let me reach out to the team, let me reach out to Mac's agent, let me reach out to other GMs around the league......let me see if i can find anyone else to verify the claim Florio is making........but it's far, far easier to run a bunch of old quotes that may or may not actually connect to this story, write it in a way that makes it seem like those old quotes substantiate the one source Florio garbage, and then beat the traffic to the Cape to get 18 in

it's garbage

late to the party on this one... 25 pages in, oof... don't think i will read all 25 pages, but eh...

does this surprise any one if its true? not me...

don't rightly care either way... mac is an average QB with a potential upside... make or break year for him ... he either steps up and fulfills some of that promise or he doesn't... i don't believe the Pats are entirely sold on him, and his fifth year option is absolutely hanging in the balance... so the conjecture of him being offered up in a trade makes sense to me...

Jones 2021 season was a smoke and mirrors FRAUD.

Look at the teams where he ran the score up. Look at the Buffalo 3 pass victory. Choked vs Buffalo in the playoffs.

Its very simple. If Jones is a winner and capable NFL starting QB, he will show us all this season. No excuses.

I'm kind of in the same boat.

I do think Mac royally pissed off BB by going outside of the family. Part of my thinks BB should take a step back, acknowledge how awful the relationship was with Judge and how dysfunctional the offense was with Fat Matt (which I think he has), clear the air and start with a clean state for 2023. I don't know if Mac went to BB and privately expressed his concerns but if he didn't, BB needs to ask the question why. If he did and BB blew him off, that's kinda on him. If he thinks Mac can be "the guy" then give him a chance. Parents and bosses can be wrong sometimes, too.

Now, if this rumored "shopping" is based on Bill determining his ability and projections and not some beef, Mac isn't "they guy", then that is a different matter and should pursue recouping as much value as possible (assuming there is a plan in place to acquire a quality starter).
