Cousin,
Good start your day breakfast of toasted banana bread with butter and seedless rasberry jam, OJ and coffer with carmel sweetener.

DW Toys Trade-A-Rama for the 16th year is coming up....16 years!!! I will give you a preview Cousins. I agree with Signbaby in my Trade A Rama. I have us trading down with Seattle in the first and them going after a QB Will Levis to sit behind Geno Smith..
They get our #14 for their #20 and their #52 in the second and a swap of picks in the third of our #76 for their #83 to make the numbers work more equitable. We gain a second rounder.

With #20 I am going Bryan Bresee DT Clemson.

Then the Trades start....Now OL. I tried to fit our needs for LT by swapping second rounders (our #46 for their #60) with the Bengas and Trent Brown (they need a RT and Jonah Williams is reluctant and wants a trade) for said mentioned Jonah Williams. He's on his rookie deal. It give us a year to see if he is our lifelong LT.

DW Toys
I like the outside of the box thinking to get us a LT starter and a young DL to groom.

The Chiefs have only $4.5 million in cap space, prior to paying for their upcoming draft picks. They restructured several of their big contracts, each of the last two years. I question whether they would go down that road again, even for a a talent like Hopkins. They last restructured Mahomes contract in 2021. They could do another restructure of his contract, but that would lead to some massive cap numbers in future years.
A simple restructure of Mahomes’ contract could free up to $23 million of cap space. Thuney and Kelce another $16 million. KC could take on Hopkins contract if they wanted.

Jonnu smith and Kendrick Bourne both said Patriots offered the most money.
I’m guessing the same was true for Henry and Agholar.

Jonnus words were something along the lines that other teams didn’t come close financially.
In and of itself, the Pats offering the most money to two FAs isn't itself evidence that they need to overpay people to sign.

Fair what player has come forward and said they took less to come here?

"[Jonathan] Jones was willing to take a hometown discount to stay in New England, as NFL Media’s Mike Giardi reportedly he could have earned 'a fair amount more' money on the open market."

As I indicated in my post, I know that they could, but will they want to? They already restructured Kelce in both 2021 and 2022, Mahomes in 2021 and Thuney in 2022, so I question whether they would be willing to go down that road again with them. A Mahomes restructure would be the most likely, if they do.

He specifically mentioned the Kansas City Chiefs as an option, stating that they would need him to take a “significant pay-cut” in order to trade for him. Breer agreed that the Chiefs would need to offer a low-end deal similar to the one JuJu Smith-Schuster signed with them a year ago.

Breer also mentioned the New England Patriots, saying they would only consider taking on Hopkins’ contract if they did not have to pay any draft picks to the Cardinals in return. Alternatively, they could pay “way way less” than what the Cardinals initially asked for, and Hopkins would need to adjust his contract in order for them to acquire the former All-Pro.

If Hopkins is cut, there is zero excuse to lose him to the Chiefs unless he just absolutely wants to play for them so bad he was willing to leave millions on the table

We have way more cap room this year and in future years than the Chiefs do, it would be a travesty to lose a great veteran FA WR at a huge position of need to the Chiefs over a couple million in salary

If he is cut, that is an absolute no brainer.. you make it happen!

I'm sure KC wouldn't have a problem fitting D-Hop in after all they are in win mode are still the favorites.

Diggs just recently restructured his deal to make cap room this year. If he was cut or traded it would create $44M in dead money and the Bills would lose almost $30M in cap space (quite a bit more than the space they currently have). They’d need to restructure multiple players just to get back under the cap.

Agee Jones is bought in and as Bill said a perfect Patriot.
I was speaking regarding new free agents from other teams.
I didn’t see that Gesicki turned down more elsewhere.
I’m sure Obrein was a huge part of that.

Since when are we in the divers seat in such a scenario? I think we are in rebuilding mode still: the only way we get him is in a Trade and a contract restructure.

If he's released, we get into the drivers seat by using our cap room and money

History have shown BB doesn't distribute our cap that way not holding my breath even though we have the $$$$.

well he paid Jonnu Smith and Agholor $11m/yr or so

Chiefs have like no cap room once you factor in signing their draft picks. They can keep trying to be cute with restructures, etc but they've gone to that well a few times and it will just keep kicking an enormous can down the road that will eat them alive in a couple years

You can pay Hopkins exactly what he deserves and still be fine with cap, etc... this is a no brainer if he becomes a FA, especially after BB was gushing over him last year

Hopkins does not practice and hates BOB. We keep track of practice participation and hired BOB. Not sure how those issues are resolved - does not seem minor.

Thrust me Mayo I would love Hopkins here he put up Meyers who people were gushing over numbers in like 7 games Hopkins is legit.

I am sure when BOB look at the opposing rosters especially in East he can honestly say. Those Teams have people who can keep DC's up at night unfortunately the Patriots don't! Hopkins with Juju puts us in the mix far cry from last years sisters of the poor.

I doubt it. Are you sure? Why would a guy who started 17 games last year want to back up Poyer and Hyde? The most likely answer is that he did not want to be a backup but had no other offers. The Bills did not offer a contract to a backup at high dollars. Captain is right - we could have signed Rapp at low $$s because it looks like Rapp had no other choices. But we didn't like the Captain says. I have no idea why not.
We could say that about alot of FAs.. I scratched my head on.. made mention of this some weeks back.. I see your point and it's sensible.. however hyde had a season ending neck Injury similar to cam chancellor.. so maybe Buffalo is thinking he could be insurance in case hyde calls it quits.. hyde and poyer are both on the other side of 30.. unless of course Buffalo knows hyde isn't ready to play yet.
